So, we all know that in TOS having a redshirt(and not being Scottish) when on Kirk' away team was seemingly a death sentence.
However, according to Memory Alpha, the first on screen death(episode 5 "The Man Trap"), and the first on-screen person McCoy declared dead, was Crewman Darnell, who wore Blue. Crewmen Sturgen(Blue) and Green(Gold) also died in this episode...
No Redshirts were harmed in the making of this episode(that I can find evidence of)
