the tool tip for the promotional ship says the ship inside is account bound even though the box is character bound in the description. so i picked the promotional ship atlas instead of 2 c store coupons box. then when you goto pick the ship inside the promotional box it again says that the ship inside will be account bound not character bound. after picking this option i then looked at the reclaim store on multiple characters including the one that claimed the ship and the ship does not appear in the reclaim store. This is false advertising if the tool tips are wrong i would have made a different choice and was tricked out of making an educated choice by false tool tips, if the tool tips are right then the promotional box isn't working and need to be fixed.

The promo boxes being account/character bound refer to themselves and not the contents.

The Z-Store coupons would have unlocked 2 ships for all characters on your account.

The tooltips are correct and gave you what you chose. You opted for a "Premium T6 Starship Choice" which gave you a 'Bound to Account' box to let you transfer it between characters on your account, but when opened gave only 1 character 1 ship.

(Personally, I agree that the promo ship should have unlocked account-wide, but it's not that way and we have to live with the choices we made...)

But in all seriousness I agree, the wording of tool tips and promo blogs often is not clear at all and there are a lot of terms that can be confused to mean something else and all the fuzz with account bound choice boxes, character bound ship boxes or no boxes at all without rhyme or reason is completely unnecessarily confusing.

if you look at the tool tips for both the boxes it clearly says "the starship from the box will be bound to your account" ship is supposed to be according to BOTH tool tips account bound not the box the ship. Also the box was character bound and you couldn't trade it according to the label, and that's my point if it didn't have it in two places on two tool tips both times maybe you would say my bad. but i say false advertising the boxes deceived me i would have made a different choice at least once if not both times. thinking it was account bound after all i chose the one promotional ship instead of two c store ships. then thinking account bound again i chose the ship i chose for its console to help the most characters on my account instead of the one i opened it on. i feel i deserve a do over because of a pair lying tool tips not just one but 2 of them.

That is correct. The tool tip, according to the sto wiki, says "The starship chosen from this pack will be Bound to Account.". If that is the actual in-game text than this is indeed false.

https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/754877359244705793/915716289815777320/tos_ship_2.png here is a copy of it thats my whole point i didnt just make it up if it had said starship bound to character ok but it says account not character. all you have to do is go in game goto the year long event and look. hover your mouse over the promotional pack choice option and look at the text on the bottom. thats why i made the choice i made now they are telling me its my fault that i made a confused choice off of a confusing tool tip and they don't plan to help me. and thats TRIBBLE their programmer messed up twice i made a choice based off of that PAIR OF MISTAKES but it's now somehow my fault, they are going to double down on the mistake by not helping me. all i want is them to repack it and let me make the choice again which they do for players all the time and i mean all the time i have never asked for that before but are giving me a hard time. AFTER I SPENT A YEAR GRINDING THOSE EVENTS DOING THE SAME CONTENT OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Of course i have thats the part in the paragraph above about them doubling down and not helping me!! after i showed them with pictures. Customer support says i'm sorry for your confusion by our tooltip. lol confusion its not confusion its a mistake not one mistake its two mistakes no wait according to one gm 3 mistakes the box is supposed to be account bound so the character bind tootip on top would also be a mistake. But i'm the confused one who can't get a do over.

I think you are confusing account bound with account unlock. You only get 1 ship and it is bound to your account, so you can trade it between characters on your account, providing you have not "used" the ship. If you have already "used" the ship, then it is only for that character.

You cannot reclaim this ship in any way because it is not an account unlock.

It has been mentioned many times, through blog and twitter posts and twitch streams, that the ship would be only for 1 character and that it is not an account unlock.

Even many forum posts asking this question, links were provided that state it was for one character only.

how many times have they blogged one thing and changed it at the last minute or have said something in a livestream and have been called out on it to be liers or at the least misleading the players with promises or half truths. so at this point every post they have at the bottom says subject to change now. When it favors them they say I told you so when it favors us they say we always say its subject to change. the point was it was a series of bad tooltips after blogs that were months ago and they changes stuff all the time and instead of simply helping a person from a misleading tooltip they want to double down but whatever defend bad customer service until you have to deal with it then get back to me. i worked in the field many years so i can say this from a position of knowledge how they handle tickets its wrong. and so because i didnt read blogs months ago or have twitter or watch on a live stream its my fault because i read a tooltip instead. i get it. i have to be on social media to get right information because programmers are to lazy to program tooltips right. thanks for the info.

thats ok im done with this, you will be happy to know the GM's have the same attiitude you do i should have known through social media of which i dont use. i wouldnt be using the forums but thats where they send tickets to die. and im done on this topic its just circular logic at this point.

It's Account Bound, not Account Unlock. They are two different things in this game. They were clear when they announced the event, and many times thorough out that the Premium Choice Box, would be bound to the Account to allow you to trasnfer it to another character if need be and so you couldn't sell it, and that it would not be an Account Unlock.

You cannot point to blogs and third party sites when the actual in-game text is phrased in a way that is really confusing. "The starship will be bound to account" does not read like "the prize box for the starship will be transferable between characters on your account, the starship in the box will be character bound".

I am with the OP on this one. It's not clear.
