Thanks to the upcoming Mirror Universe storyline, our Ship Artist team was able to take the time to remaster quite a few of our original, 25th Century Starfleet ships. Lead Ship Artist Thomas Marrone takes you through that process:
Sounds great. Unfortunately I wasn't able to apply any of the mirror skins to the ships listed in the link. Was this actually released today as the blog entry seems to say or is this a feature being incorporated later? Or is it those specific ships as opposed to a Legendary/T6 version being able to use the skin?

From what I am encountering, it must be THOSE hips. If the ship listed is just a variant of a Legendary ship you have, it will NOT work.

I just tried again with a Pathfinder Long Range Science Vessel and I'm not seeing any option for the mirror skins - or presets. Either I'm doing something wrong which is always possible or it's a bug/feature.
2 possibilities about the Mirror skins, knowing the usual Cryptic trend:
-in lockboxes, either as simple skins (less likely) or tactical-focused variants lockbox grand prizes (very likely)
-"We never said players would have access to all those 25 remasters!"
At the risk of sounding really dumb, what does the red text represent in the blog? It mentions restoring files at the top. Does the red text represent restored or 'best guess' text?
It appears that red refers to Mirror Universe and normal text represents the Main universe - but I can't tell why.
These should probably be addressed...unless the goal is to refund everyone who bought the 10th Anniversary bundle, and the Legendary TOS upgrade bundle...
No. Nothing needs to be addressed. The blog clearly says “ NOTE: These new variants are NOT available as playable ships for the time being!”
Did none of you actually read it? Granted it is really poorly written. I get that they wanted it to seem like an in-universe report but it is just confusing and hard to read.
By the way the red text is supposed to be a scrambled message from “ionic interference.”

The one person in the thread that actually read the release.

Hahahahahahaha!
This is why it pays to read the blogs properly, rather than just react to them.
People ask how long have I been playing STO - well the answer is simple: I have been here since the beginning. I just haven't always had a lot to say.

so much for reading it, it also says this
"Here is a breakdown of all the Starfleet ships that have been updated. Some were total remasters, while others were less-extensive material and detail updates. If you have one of these ships, make sure to visit the Ship Customization interface and select the proper preset, then apply it to your ship, to see the update correctly."

I read it. I read past what you quoted and found this (the part in bold is particularly relevant):
The goal with these changes was to be able to put these STO-era starships next to our remastered Galaxy or Intrepid class and have them both co-exist with a similar quality and attention to detail. We can’t wait for you all to get a closer look at the hard work that has been done, and we hope you enjoy taking some of these ships out for another spin.

Andromeda Class Exploration Cruiser
Concorde Class Command Battlecruiser
Gagarin Class Battlecruiser
Edison Class Warship
Pathfinder Class Long-Range Science Vessel
Reliant Class Advanced Light Cruiser
Scott Class Miracle Worker Cruiser
Shran Class Pilot Escort
Somerville Class Intel Science Vessel
Sutherland Class Advanced Science Vessel
Got to read the fine print: "not available for playable starships for the time being."
Ok, so what is the point exactly?
Honestly that's what I'm wanting to know. If this doesn't benefit us, why are we hearing about it?
Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

I'm really confused by how the news article listed a bunch of ships that got updated and to "use the preset for them to get the update applied", but the presets are... gone and you can't pick the updated stuff manually.

The red text represents what imperial Starfleet has said about the ships and the white text is Starfleets entries about the ships, the terrans build their ships in heavy assault configurations so the red text says how the terrans are building it and other details vs the white text explaining how starfleet builds them is my guess
The way i read it was simply they updated the existing T6 variant models of those listed ships while working on their mirror counterparts. So the listed ships all are updated already, the mirror skins will come as entirely new ships. I only have one of the ships on that list, but i can confirm that the Andromeda looks different to before this patch, so it worked exactly as described.
Im always grateful for updating existing ship models and the new ones look amazing as usual, props to the devs. Im just wondering if other T6 ships will get the same treatment like the Hestia or the Resolute? Not that they need them, other are in dire need of an update first (Nova and Sabre for example), but those new ones didnt need an overhaul in my opinion either, they looked quite good before (and look even more amazing now).
Btw, those interiors from the new mission look awesome too, can we get those as playable ship interiors pretty please? They are outstanding!

This is correct the way the red text is portrayed is that we are hearing a audio brief about the ship and then the mirror universe breaks over the channel and that why you see the red text and the brief take a more sinister tone.
Also since we are in a mirror universe chapter this kind of goes well.

what am I doing wrong? this is the Reliant class T6 but have no mirror skins that show in preset or otherwise.

Characters with the legendary versions? The entire class skin is no longer available...despite us having PAID for those skins, in the sales agreement.
