Struggling with the Cardassian Struggle

So... I finished The Cardassian Struggle and am confused. The Mission Journal header for it says:

"A secret organization dedicated to the return of the Cardassian Union and the Obsidian Order plagues the Federation and Cardassian forces, seeking to overturn newfound freedoms in favor of oppression and aggression. Will the fragile democracy on Cardassia Prime survive?"

It seemed like there would be some politics and intrigue, and involvement with a bunch of Cardassians, but it was a really short story where it was a Changeling and a little bits of the Mirror Universe. Half the story was about a Mirror Universe Orb, and the other half about Alpha Quadrant Changelings. The whole story felt really disjointed and cut short, and Laas was nothing like the neutral, distant, whimsical character he was in the old TV show.

Also, was this supposed to be where the Terran Task Force reputation stuff comes into play? Because there wasn't really any involvement with the Terran Empire other than a recording from Admiral Leeta.

Like most other episode arcs, most of the content was removed from the game. Though some of it is still available under the "available missions" tab once your character reaches max level. So yeah... Fun, I know.

There used to be about. A dozen or so missions in that arc and they went like this: kill 5 mobs in space, kill 5 mobs in an enormous ground map, fetch a doohickey, talk to 5 people, kill 5 more mobs, go back into space and kill 5 mobs again.

They were okay but basically they streamlined about half the stories into two of the new episodes.

So you mean it was like all the brand new content in the game and all the old content in the game?

Of course it was like that, Star Trek Online's gameplay mechanics are based around interact with object or defeat enemy. It's quite limited what you can do with that combination, that's why the game requires good storytelling to make up for it.

But I guess judging from the newest content, that's no longer a requirement either aslong as we get enough Discovery content packed into the mission.

There was meant to be some intrigue in the dialogue, but when the mission arc was revamped that was mostly lost - it seems that many players just kept hitting F until the dialogue was done and they could move on to killing the next group of enemies faster. But yes - you are right - it would have been much better if there was some political intrigue, or something involving some choice (diplomatic) phrases, but that is too much to ask for sometimes.

I hope you're enjoying the rest of the storyline - like, the 18th war faced by the Federation in the last 12 months of 'game time'...
