Only people who didn't pay attention what 'year of Klingon' actually means. Hint: It doesn't mean KDF exclusive development. It doesn't even explicitly mean new ships. It meant revamping the story and give character models a overhaul.
Only people who didn't pay attention that Star Trek Online game have two opposite fraction (and Romulans XD) can write this. It doesn't mean KDF exclusive development. It's mean that other side of players have nothing (and Romulans XD). Do you remember when game have 3 different spec (tac, eng and sci) and 3 different factions (Federation, KDF and Romulans XD)? And we have 3 packs of 3 ships. And what we have today? Legendary Federation and Federation-Aligned ship line with copy-paste same product... so dear friend tell me now what does it mean?
Tbh, I think my only real gripe with the ship overall is that its got a Command spec seat. I think I would have preferred Pilot, or maybe even Miracle Worker, but enh. C'est la vie.
Actually have to confess that I'm pleased it didn't get Miracle Worker as I'm praying that the Nova might get it (if they ever get around to actually doing anything with the Nova.... )
Considering what the U.S.S. Equinox had to go through, they needed a Miracle Worker to get the starship as far as they did before the end
Ship itself looks like a fun platform to strap aux cannons to
Aux-powered cannons are locked to Vesta-class, the only real sci ship that can function off of conventional energy weapon as a secondary minor source of damage, unlike these hybrid ships best flown and equipped differently, as mentioned earlier.
Truly, aux-powered energy weapons belong on such transformer ships (Dysons, Terran Crossfield), and having them wouldn't make them overpowered in any way regardless, so it's just another lack of understanding of their own game mechanics to produce anything worthwhile, short of looking good and having the latest ship tier. For Fed/aligned only, cause TRIBBLE you if you dare play anything else.

Yeah, I realized that after typing it; but didn't bother going back to edit it out. It's been soo long since I've used them that I forgot they're locked to the ships they come with. At some point, I guess I started assuming they were like Quad Cannons, which can be used on anything.
I agree it would be nice to see them be made universal though - it would open up options for tactical-oriented science ships(or 'escort' torpboats) to use energy weapons without having to waste a bunch of power on weapons. It's obviously not a min-max thing with how much better exotic damage scales on science vessels, but it would be nice for flavor-builds.
And STILL no Cerritos, I am FED up with getting FED up with all the FED ship, I make Klingon characters now!! but a California class could make me come back to the dark side (Sarah Kerrigan make FEDERATION the DARK SIDE *on PS4 atleast*) I want a peaceful game and sadly Klingon is the side where they are the most helpful and nicest community where Federation *well Picard got it right* is just a mess of their former glory

On the otherhand, whilst I don't hate it or anything, I've never particuarly liked the Luna class and its appearance on Lower Decks didn't really do anything for me.
>
> And I'll confess that I'm a little bitter that it 'jumped the queue' (for lack of a better term) thanks to that appearance - I do understand why Cryptic would want to 'cash in' on that but I still don't have to like it.
Well I can only speak on performance and under current meta, sci ships perform extremely well in ISE and HSE. Think my current record in hive was set on a sci ship.
Problem with the ship we have here is that it is, again, a hybrid between sci and tac. There are not many (if any) ways around to make such a hybrid work Even closely as good as either a pure Tac or sci focused ship.
I hope if they ever give us the nova, they give us a real sci ship and don’t waste it on another hybrid attempt.
Yeah - agreed.
The thing is, from where I stand it looks like the USS Titan's appearance left Cryptic with a bit of a dilema. They designated the Luna class as a Science vessel waaay back when, and it was 'soft canon', so that didn't really matter.
However, the USS Titan's appearance in the S1 finale of Lower Decks presented us with a ship that kicked *** and took names. I guess they had to cater to the player's expectation of doing what they saw the Titan do to in that episode to some degree.
They could've made it a science spearhead, like the lockbox version of the Crossfield. That would've given it a 4/3 weapons layout, plus the LtC tactical station and 4 tac consoles to make it a more offensively oriented ship that matches what we see in STLD.
I'll probably buy this, but more out of nostalgia than anything else. The Luna was my first endgame ship, back when 50 was the level cap, the game was still owned by Atari, and the C-store had only a smattering of cosmetic items for sale.
Love it!, c-store... damn... i cannot say no... wish for other factions equivalence, the ship staff do ther job prety well... anyway.. i want it.. NOW!!
To be honest you'd be better off waiting a week. It drops into the C-store at 3k Zen today, with nothing in the blog indicating any sort of sale or price reduction on release.
However its Black Friday next week and that means (if they continue the trend from previous years) a Zen Charge Sale at the very least and reduced prices in the C-store. It'll probably be possible to purchase this ship at a reduce prize using a larger amount of Zen than you would have had if you'd paid full price for the ship without the Zen Charge bonus.
I think i still have a 50% discount ticket in my bank.. that's way better that the ones in BF, i hope, if not, maybe i'll wait... maybe..

There is no 'other side'. The story has unified the factions which themselves offer no unique gameplay. There is no PvP (worth talking about) and nothing that would justify faction tribalism. All canon ships for KDF and Romulans are in the game, what is left are original designs without emotional investment.
I picked up STO because I wanted to play a Klingon Targ handler, something I still can't do ten years later. However I also see the reality: Star Trek is fed centric and STO does not have unique factions. It hardly ever did, but today it certainly doesn't have anything left that is worth speaking about a 'other side'.

If you do the event (on PC at least,) you get a Targ. There's another one in the Cstore that forms a set of some kind with the event one. You can actually be a Targ handler now, anyone can, but if that's your dream, you can finally do it.
Profit margin will take priority over any canon/lore almost every time it seems.
I may not buy the Titan initially but I think Cryptic has done well with it from what resources there are for it.
Since nothing in STO is canon anyway (until some aspect of it appears in an actual Star Trek series or Film); what exactly is your issue with that?

A good candidate for a KDF ship could have been the monster Pakled ships.
Just say in their description that a while ago, the KDF managed to easily acquire those ships that managed to effortlessly wreak 2 Starfleet ships, by tricking their Pakled captains to give them away, but they were quickly deemed less-than-useful against non-red-shirt Fed ships and left to collect dust in a hangar until it was decided to retrofit them to make them powerhouses in capable hands.

Why would I do this? It makes no sense. If I would limit myself to a fraction of the game voluntarily why should I complain because I choose to ignore everything else?

The white knighting is looking a bit desperate at this point.
Pointing to the FREIGHTER and trying to claim it's a D5?
...... the Tong'Duj IS a D5, modified to BE a freighter. It was literally seen as such in an episode of ENT, as even then, it was an old and outdated design and relegated to being little more than a freighter ship.
That link to the STO wiki even has a link to Memory Alpha at the bottom that illustrates this.
In terms of science I still prefer to use my upgraded legendary intrepid, in terms of being a destroyer it's still lacking in the boff department since you can only have one ltcom tac seat, there's other sci/tac hybrid ships which I would still prefer over it such as the annorax, tac vesta and lukari scout ship, the only real thing it has over most of them is the 7th weapon slot.

The Titan class is a modeswitch ship: the Lt.Com Tac and Com Sci switch ranks when it changes, so it changes to Com Tac and Lt.Com Sci. The Dyson Ships have this exact gimmick.

It's a TRIBBLE FREIGHTER!
Comparing it to the Miranda is plain stupid. It's a T4 special from an event not a D5. Feddy bears are getting pretty obvious in their prejudice at this point when they point to a T4 special freighter as the reason we shouldn't have a T6 D5.

....... the Tong'Duj freighter...
.... is from the ENT Episode "Marauders"....
.... Where it is CLEARLY a modified D5 class battlecruiser....
This is not a debate, or literally even arguable. It is what it is.
And the fact that the D5 was already being used as a freighter over a century before Miranda-type starships were even developed, indicates it was an aged design and not necessarily a frontline combat vessel literally before the Federation was founded.
Whinge about wanting one all you like, but those are the facts, dude. And literally no one is saying to NOT maybe make one in the future??? You're the one busting into a thread about one ship and fussing about a completely different ship, then getting nitpicky when people point out that ship is technically in the game already, just not in a form you are personally pleased with. There is no need for you to be so obtuse about this.
This faction tribalism thing is just trolling at this point, isn't it? Nobody chooses a d faction. Everything is for everybody.

And what is your point? The NX was literally a unshielded light cruiser which originally was equipped with missiles and we have it as a T6...doesn't matter if the D5 is old, no reason it can't be brought in.
