Things like vanity shields and fleet modules bind to the character that runs the project.
It would be nice, and the items probably more useful, if this were changed to binding to the account.
I don't know about others, but I don't need 11 fleet modules on one character. When I have one vanity shield, I don't really need the other ones.
Why not let players move these items from characters that have no use for stuff, to ones that could use it but which are still far away from reaching T6.
I would argue for making all gear bind to the account, but even if it were limited to vanity stuff and fleet modules, that'd be a huge improvement.
Vanity shield should definitely be account bound. It is hard to know just how good or ugly a ship looks with a given vanity shield without being able to put it on that ship.
I wish it were all account bound, but at least for fleet modules I can understand the argument for character bound, because anyone can create an alt, and the more recruit events you've done the easier it is to AFK that alt up to max rep and get all the fleet modules you want, despite the sheer amount of time it takes.

True, it's not hard to get a character to T6. But it does take up to 50 days (or 30 when using buy outs to get to T5, but that would be a bit pointless if you do it to get a free module).
I don't think people would really go through so much effort for some free fleet modules. But the suggested change could be benficial for those who already have reputations at T6 and no use for the modules they've already unlocked.
If we could share fleet ship modules, people would buy fewer of them from the Z store.
And personally, I am delighted to have all the free ship modules I can get. I purchased my dearly beloved Goldfish Bowl that way
That's true, but why would people buy those modules through the C-store if they can get them for free anyway?
I don't think those modules are very important to their overall income, cause then I doubt they'd have added them as freebies to the sixth tier.
Even if the lack of interest in modules originating from the C-store were of concern to them, I still think they need to come up with some alternative then to address this allocation problem.

If they made them account bound and not Character Bound, it would only be a matter of time before someone starts asking "well if this is account bound, why not make other things account bound like the rep gear?"
Not a popular sentment around here but I still hold to my opinion that things earned through the rep system stay limited to the character that actually took the time and earned them
The ugly or not question on vanity shields could be addressed by having the tailor have a filter that allows folk to apply the visuals and (just as the tailor does) the option to purchase (queue up) the relevant rep thing or blow a huge eardrum shattering raspberry when its one that's stupidly buried inside a chance of a chance gamblebox instead of simply being a for zen cosmetic that would still make cryptic money without the aforementioned BS gambleboxxing.
Vanity shields should be lower in the tier or be a project that is unlocked for the account when you complete tier 6 on a character. The shields are helpful on ships with few skin options, but only accessible for characters that has tier 6 of a reputation completed. That is just a litle QoL for a lot of work.

I think the purpose of having the vanity shields as a T6 project is to show off that that particular character has completed that particular Rep track. Kinda like the ground flourish thing that people spam on Drozana, only for space, with the added benefit of basically just being the one you like the most rather than displaying all at once.
So basically its a trophy for completing T6 of a rep.
