filled it out its a bit generic and doesn't really allow you to go into to much detail but its better than nothing I suppose and I ask everyone who is having server issues to fill it out the more reports they get the better

Assuming that this poll is logging IP locations, this could be very useful in determining without a doubt that certain locations experience more lag than others.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

I'm pretty sure it's mostly location-specific. It's been fine here over in the UK.

Everyone I know in real life in the UK said its terrible and often unplayable although I don't know people in every region of the UK. Last year I traveled around the EU testing out all sorts of locations which is data I summited last time around they did a survey. Apart from 2 lag free days in Brugge it was none stop lag all over, from the UK, France and more. 90% of the time the problem appeared to be akemi
Guess it's more of the physical server age vs load at this point. Or bottlenecks. Rubberbanding occurs in some missions and doesn't in others, being quite inconsistent. This could be a thing of preloaded info vs streamed server data.
A couple notes: Did the survey, posted my tracert. But its morning on a weekday, so of course it's one of the cleanest/fastest tracerts I've seen.
Second is that I've run tracerts during periods of lag and rubberbanding in the past, and even then, the tracert often looks pretty good (hops not too long, not too many missed packets etc.). I've been of the opinion for a long time that the lag problem isn't with 'internet latency' or bad hops. If it was, it would affect other games on the same days that pass through similar Internet hops.
The issue is with the packet handling and protocols between the client and the server, between Cryptics various servers (account, game, map, etc.), and more recently, between using Akamai as a net filter and Cryptics own software. Unfortunately it seems the only focus at Cryptic is finding ways to blame lag on 'outside influences' rather than analyzing their own internet protocol handling.

for me today it seems to be an akamai problem (again ^^)
I always love seeing people who think they are an expert in how running a server works, especially a massive public worldwide service that depends on speed and safety...

They are correct though. Its proven a large amount of the lag is coming from problems at the akamai nodes. We have known this for around 2 years with plenty of evidence. The problems started when STO changed ISP and switched to the akamai security servers. Node 93.191.173.x seems to be one of the major problem points.

Yet you just seem to know they're wrong even though you post nothing but smug little insults to back up your perspective.
Once again folks, the problem is why the slowdown is occurring at Akamai for those that are experiencing it at that juncture. Is it something that can be fixed easily by changing a couple of settings, and if not Akamai then has to come up with a solution to fix the issue WITHOUT opening Cryptic and others up to DDoS attacks at the same time.

They ask you to do a trace route and paste the result.
Well, I put "no" for lag so I didn't get that part.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
I wish I could amend my survey. For frequency, I put "more than once a day" cause certainly, typically, it's not multiple times an hour. Then today happened. I forget which BZs... Dyson Sphere? So Undine/Voth in "space" and then Voth on ground? Must of rubberbanded close to two dozen times in an hour (about 8 hours ago as of this posting). Rubberbanded a couple times in a patrol, too (which I didn't check in the survey cause it very rarely happens for me).
I know they don't have time slices to code this, but it would be cool to have Endeavors to help. For example, beam to ESD, run from the transporter to the exchange 10 times, how many times did you experiance lag? Or adding a 5th Endevor that simply says "While completing todays endeavors how many times did you experiance lag?". That might show if there are any ingame locations/time of day where lag is more likely.
This is the only game I have lag, rubberbanding, dropped connections. My other games, streaming, work cases no problems. The problem is on your end Cryptic.

Same way here, I have really good internet and game online without issues outside of STO. I also have a high end PC built for VR gaming, so it's not that either.
For years though, people used to say this game lagged, and I always wondered what they meant because I saw literally none of this lag.. ever. Over the last year though, it's started hitting me and when it happens, man is it bad. It's just strange because there are days I log in and it's literally as smooth as you could ever want. No skips, no rubber banding, no hiccups.. just the constantly smooth game play experience I would expect given my PC and connection speed. Then there are other days I log in and I can't even do DoFFing because I click to finish a mission and it takes 10-30 seconds to even register the click.
It's the strangest and most frustrating thing ever. I do appreciate that they're looking into this and I really hope they're able to find the problem.

Ten to one, they ain't looking into this, its just lip service. They have KNOWN for years and done nothing. They want us to do their work for them. Then if its to expensive, they will just come up with some lame excuse.

You may not be wrong there we will just have to wait and see. Kael was asking for data back In October 2019 and there is a sticky thread Lag Hunting Data Submissions round 2 which was created December 2019. We are at the end of May and 8 months on and the Lag and Rubberbanding is no better. I'd say its been even worse Thursdays 28th May Patch

Watch it when you use Zen store or dili, lag is hitting in there as well. Buddy bought a ship from the Zen store, it took about a minute for the ship to show up, he was getting ticked.
"Nuke the entire site from orbit--it's the only way to be sure"
not only that, but doing rep stuff it lags, opening the zen store lags, doesnt pop up with all the tabs at first, and then after about 10 secs or more, all of a sudden the sale tab shows up and others.
just overall lag seems worse this week than prior to this thread coming out.
It does seem worse in fact its that bad I just went over the 40 limit cap for items on sale on the exchange. Certain actions are causing even bigger spikes then normal. Just opening the skill page or completing an Endeavors and all the NPC's, weapon shots in space and everything locks up and freeze's for seconds. If it happens in combat its looks like some sort of temporal time lock. The lag pause seem to be slowly getting longer.

Hope something comes of this, the lag in this game is miserable.
Survey done.

Props for the team for trying to address it.
