It's a very powerful ship and it's only the high price that keeps it from being seen more often than not.
Powerful how? Compare it to, for example, the Allied Pilot Escorts that are simple ZEN ships - the Amarie has slightly better hull and shield mods, but had lower turning rates.. and doesn't have piloting maneuvers!
It isn't the high price that keeps it from being seen more, it's the fact that there are much better promo box choices. If you see an Amarie (before tomorrow, of course) it's likely the person picked it up during the promo event when it was released, not since... and you still won't see it much among people who have it because there are better ships to main, even of similar class.
So is the Universe class and people still want it... so is the Eternal class, and it's still second to none as a science ship. There are plenty of older ships that people still want and still buy.
A ship either needs to be very effective, or very attractive (in the eyes of the captain, of course) to be seen with much regularity. The Amarie is neither top tier in effectiveness nor particularly attractive in most people's eyes. The one thing it ever had going for it was amenities on the bridge.. and that stopped being as big a thing when sector space travel was trivialized by free transwarping to missions.
The Amarie isn't a bad ship at all looking at its stats and BOFF layout. It offers a strong sci/tac hybrid potential which may or may not interest some people. It is much sturdier than most escort types, and its turn rate is far from a problem. Other ships with 15ish turn rate include the Legendary Defiant, the Morrigu, the T6 Akira, and none of those are bad ships.
At 5/2 it has a better weapon layout than the other escorty ships in the promo boxes, similar to the very new La Sirena, and has a tac commander which the Freedom Frigate doesn't.
Pilot maneuvers are definitely not something that puts a ship on top tier, and can be more trouble than they are worth (even after you fix their controls to your liking.)
Is it a top tier ship? No probably not. Is it worth the Promo box? No, but I'd say none of them are, though. But is it powerful? Yes, absolutely. 5/2 is a great layout, it has strong hull and shields, turn rate in line with other similar ships, and the trait can be useful for ships with significant torpedo loadouts, and can use OSS 2+EPTW3 which pilot ships definitely cannot.
For people who accumulate handfuls of Ultra Rare and EPIC prize tokens from the phoenix vendor there is a common theme. As for myself playing this game the last 9 years as I have these events reward you with a grand prize of a ship mostly. So if you already have these ships there is nothing to get because literally its all grayed out like there is no prize token at all. So I sit here humbly trying to get you on my wave length to understand just waving an EPIC prize token in my face does nothing. So please put some stuff in that low drop rate section that you can buy things with and such. So create some value on that note of the mudd store so people will be more inclined to be getting that EPIC token.
Not bad but... the single NOT account wide Epic Prize Token - Phoenix Prize Pack is the worst choice on this list.
It should either be:
Per Character claimed Epic Token
Account wide unlock of the chosen ship
I mean, every other ship there is account unlocked. Even the Amarie.
So why would a summer/winter ship be SOO much more restricted in this bundle?
$147.50 for 7 ships (or 3 ships, depending how you look at it) I guess is ok, but the $295 normal price is laughable.
Yes the Amarie is currently an expensive non-account wide ship but stat-wise no significantly better than many of the $30 ships that have come after it. So it's usefulness isn't worth the 1.5B EC people ask for it. IMO But if you like the Amarie and all those T6 Temporal Ships, $147.50 is a decent deal, I guess.
Six T6 tokens:
$147.50/6=$24.58 You're only saving $5.42 (18%) off the normal price. We have better sales all the time. If the bundle wasn't 1/2 off now you'd be paying MORE for a T6 ship than it's normal price!
Hard to pin down a value on the Tech Upgrades: 30 of them for $147.50 Not sure how that compares to when we do the Key Ring bundles and you can sell off the keys to balance the costs. And don't feel the need to go work it out atm.
Personally, I'll pass. Not big on any of these ships or items. I'd rather hold my Zen for when I can buy the single Legendary ships I want.
I believe that the Amarie was one of the (only) Promotion Ships that fell down into the 800-900 million EC range for a while back a few years ago under normal circumstances.

There's nothing about this that screams "I'm worth $150USD!". IMO, this at high end at best would be $120. More realistically, I think this should be ball parked $85-100USD. As much as I'd like to get the T6 Wells and Mobius, not worth it at this price point. I'll pass and take my chance on the exchange.

Pro and cons of taking your chance with the exchange.
They are so expensive that people may not feel they are valuable enough to buy.
The stats aren't so great in comparison to other ships in their promo caliber.
The bundle description is so ambiguous that it may put people off buying to begin with.
This may result in fewer sellers and reduced demsnd that may drive down prices on the exchange. It's a tough bet because the sheer expense of the mudd bundle may keep ec prices high for quite a while.
Are there other ships you want to fly? They would be much better value for money and way more accessible.
Edit: hang on a minute. Aren't these ships cstore and therefore impossible to sell on the exchange?

This is beginning to look like a cash grab to me, one expensive bundle after another in a very narrow time frame is worrying. Maybe that seems paranoid, but if these ultra-expensive bundles keep dropping I'm prompted to wonder if the game is due for a shutdown next year or if this IP will be sold to another company?
That being the case, for the time being I'm going to pass on any real money STO purchases of any kind .... say for the rest of 2020.
Nothing is rotten in 2411. You are being paranoid. Knock it off with the doom! Again, they live in the Silicon Valley as well and have to deal with CBS. Besides it is very expensive to live in California. This most likely factors in to why the prices in Mudd's Market are the way they are and not just greed.
I think this is the best way Cryptic can grab as much money as they can for all the T6 they've made up till now BEFORE they make the transition to TIER SEVEN starships. You heard it here first folks. T7 is coming soon to a Trek game near you.
Umm...good. I want a T7 mogai with new skin options please.

I mean they're not wrong about it being a cash grab. Its for sure one. But I'm alright with it. The more lockbox and promo ships that get into the c store the better, because I'm way more likely to buy something like this pack than gamble for the ships, and it would probably cost me the same amount of zen to get them in game anyway.
This is probably more of cryptic exploring alternative methods of revenue for the ships from lootboxes, since there is still talk of legislation against them in many places though most of those talks have been postponed because of the Corona.
Its a good sign though, this isn't as good of a deal as some other packs, but I actually want the ships in it so I'll grab it

F2P game has to make money somehow. But long ago I gave up praying to RNGesus in video games. Give me a fair price on something and if I like it, I'll buy it. I'm not paying to open another loot box ever again. Maybe there's enough people now who think that way that Cryptic is having to try new methods? If boxes were working well enough, I'm not sure we'd see offers like this.

Although there are people like sthe91 who would deny it... in game lockoboxes and promo packs have been progressively doing worse. Some whales have left the game, and newer promo packs and lockboxes have been pretty unpopular. Them constantly adding what are basically c store or lobi store ships to promo packs doesn't help, as no one wanted the Franklin, S31 battlecruiser and a few others, so I'm assuming that must be the catalyst to them pushing hard into other areas to try and renew their revenue.

Your evidence is anecdotal and you do not give any examples to support your conclusions about in-game lockboxes and promo packs doing worse. I would most likely believe you if they were statistics to back up your argument, I would not deny it unless the evidence said otherwise. Of course a certain segment of the STO population has a huge animus against newer promo packs and lockboxes, a hatred I do not have and still do not understand. If you don't want to purchase lockboxes, open them, etc then don't. Also, you do not know that no one wanted the Franklin, Section 31 Battlecruiser, and a few others. Just because you did not want it and others did not want it, does not mean that no one wanted those starships. Also, there is no need to slime me in this, I did not ask to belong to this discussion (I was pointing out specifically there is no need for paranoia and doom threads just because of Cryptic's action since it is an overreaction) and was only giving my two cents on the matter. Also, what is wrong with a business trying to make money? I hear that cash grab accusation several times and question its validity almost every time, if you don't want it, don't buy it. Simple as that. Finally, let us return to the topic of this thread instead of continuing down this rabbit trail. I do not want to pick a fight with you, let's end this. So to those who will get in on it when there is a sale on Mudd's Market, congratulations! Thanks.

I find your post vaguely insulting in some areas. I wasn't sliming you, but anyone who has seen your posts would be aware you are Pro Cryptic to a fault. This is not a doom or paranoia thing, I never said the game is dying so don't falsely attribute intent to me. I'm with the group of traders responsible for a significant amount of the lockbox/lobi/promo ships in the game. And its literally a cash grab. That doesn't mean its bad, but it is one. Not all cash grabs have to be bad after all. And I could provide evidence, but I already suspect you would ignore it as most Pro Cryptic players I have seen tend to ignore anything offered up against their views.
And there can be MANY things wrong with a business trying to make more money. There aren't in this case but don't use a blanket statement.

That reminds me of a quote I once was told regarding research: "If you're not citing all your work then you're citing none of your work at all."
Regarding this bundle I don't think it's a good value, but I recognize my evaluation is subjective. If it had been 12K zen instead of near 15K zen then I probably would've bought it, but as is I don't find the quantity of ships worth it, versus some other bundles, nor their older quality worth it, but they're still decent/good ships. Let alone the potential pitfall of already owning 1 or all 3 of these ships on a character or most your characters. I'm sure plenty will purchase the bundle. It's also worth remembering that Cryptic chooses to not allow Phoenix prize token ships be account-wide unlocks & they've painted themselves into a corner on that decision a bit, but it's not much different than the other gamble ships.
So my comment about the Universe and Annorax classes was a bit of a joke, but I am actually confused as to why they didn't include the Paradox in this. They already have 2 of the temporal ships, I don't see why they couldn't finish the whole set so we'd have access to everything account-wide.
In any case, expect the price of the Paradox to go up.

They didn't probably to see if this would drive more people to buy the Paradox and understand the dynamics of a console set and how it might drive sales of a ship, especially with the lobi event reward.
Personally I don't think this is going to do much, because the set isn't that good. The Paradox trait is a lot better than the other temporal ships, though, but if you wanted the trait, having the other ships doesn't change that.
If the Verne is not popular, why do you see very few on the Exchange and at higher than normal prices for a Lockbox Ship. Remember, we went through lots of ups and downs with the Wells in its day, sometimes climbing into to 750 million range.
Sure the Legendary Intrepid beats it out now for Sciencey stuff but that too has a more limited user base due to its availibilty.

Me too! =D
I will buy every single ship I love over again if they follow through in the way I think they will. I just bought the Legendary ship pack when it first came out for half-price. I'm hoping they'll get a T6+ treatment the same way the T5 ships got their uprated-ness.
CRYPTIC: TIER SEVEN ALL THE WAY BABY! WOOT!! BABY NEEDS A NEW PAIR OF SHOES!!!
Uhg. I'm not showing too much am I? I really am sincerely hoping we get T7 ships. <(-.-)>

If and when T7 ships come out, they will all be Fed. You know it. I know it. We will never see a new Romulan ship in STO.
I rarely buy Fed ships so that would be a mistake on PWE's part. I am much more interested in faction unique ships for my Klingon faction and Romulan characters.
It would be nice if T7 brought some changes as well. Give us 10 (5 fore, 5 aft) weapon cruisers, a 9 (5 fore, 4 aft) escorts, and 8 (4 fore, 4 aft) Science ships to help balance the power creep of the game. More weapons, more power consumption to deal with, some higher or dual or auxillary warp core ships, and so on. We need some new mechanics other than just increasing the tier with a little stat bump and extra console or two.

It should either be:
- Per Character claimed Epic Token
- Account wide unlock of the chosen ship
I'd rather hold my Zen for when I can buy the single Legendary ships I want.
l don't know.
l really don't know what l'm about to say, except l have a feeling about it.
That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'
> Not bad but... the single NOT account wide Epic Prize Token - Phoenix Prize Pack is the worst choice on this list.

Legendary D'deridex. Nomnomnom. Pewpewpew
Hopefully T7 finally gives us a TOS Romulan D7!

I was not insulting you or anyone here. I am not pro-Cryptic and do not agree with all their decisions. I never said you said the game was dying, I was responding to the person who claimed doom. I would not ignore the evidence, I would look at it and maybe change some of my views.
You didn't quote anyone else so how was I supposed to be able to tell you were directing your "doom" claim towards someone else?
Have the Klingon and Romulan T6 Temporal Science Vessels always looked like a Cylon and Dog respectively?
Sure the Legendary Intrepid beats it out now for Sciencey stuff but that too has a more limited user base due to its availibilty.
