Starship Retirement

One of my fleet mates asked if any ships had been retired from the game. I didn't know for certain, I know some lockbox ships are unavailable right now. Has Cryptic ever officially retired a starship?

    The T5U Lobi ships are in retirement as they were updated to T6, but that's about it. They may make a reappearance in C-Store bundles. That doesn't mean you lose access to them if you already own them though.

    Not ALL of the T5 Lobi ships are gone though.
    Also they did outright retire the original Fleet T5 Patrol Escort, replacing it with a refit with a fused tailgun.
    I actually still have an unupgraded Fleet T5 Patrol Escort on one character.

    I suppose that you could say that a few ships that were only offered briefly, and by a means that is no longer available, are at least temporarily retired. Mirror Guardian and Danube from that charity donation promotion and the Tier 1 Kumari from the Neverwinter Founders Pack could count under those circumstances, and probably the Grand Nagus, as well. However, a few others that had been in a similar state have made their way back, namely the Vizier and both versions of the Steamrunner, so you can't count anything like that as permanently retired.
    This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

    No one knows how the Nagus was distributed either.

    Covered the main ones that are not available currently. The only other one that comes to mind is old craftable version of the Delta Flyer, but that's available for purchase instead. Oh, the Tuffli Freighter was retired for a while before being re-added as well.

    Of all the ships, I don't know if it's the T1 Andorian Escort or the Nagus that are the rarest. I think I've only ever seen someone flying around with the former a single time over all the years.

    Well... a T1 Andorian ship is not going to be used as long as the Nagus. On the other hand, as mentioned, no one knows how the Nagus was distributed so who knows how many even exist at all.

    Whatever happened to those old ships that used to be used by fleets for R&D projects before they changed the whole system? Are they still around, and/or do they serve a different purpose now?

    Thinking back the only NPC ship that I remember being removed was the Obex ship that destroyed a Borg cube I had captured.

    I've got the T1 Andorian, the Mirror Danube, Mirror Guardian, and the Nagus.

    You could say that the T5 Ambassador (non-Fleet) was retired, as it was only availible on the initial release of the Temporal Ambassador Mission, or that giveaway. The KDF was the Kamarag, which was the KDF reward in the Initial Temporal Ambassador. That was not part of that subsequent giveaway.

    Was going to mention this ship myself. T5 Support Cruiser Retrofit. (aka T5 Ambasador) Was first a mission reward and then an account wide event unlock (which I wasn't around for) and is now unobtainable. If you had one from either source, you can still use it. Could be added to Phoenix or something in the future, but I'm not sure if they would do it since you could just get the T6/Fleet T6 instead and use the Ambassador skin. Mine is drydocked on my main char. (Doesn't come with any special consoles or anything, so you wouldn't be missing anything if you got the T6 Support Cruiser.)

    Nope this one should still be available from the mission Temporal Ambassador, if this is the one you mean. It's character unlock, not an account. Since it rewards the Ambassador(Fed) and Kamarag Battle Cruiser(KDF).
