I would like star trek online to have an official discord be another great way to keep track of patch notes/new etc? plus be another Social hub for many to use! many people Discord nowadays!
Isn't there enough discord around here already without making it official?

l really don't know what l'm about to say, except l have a feeling about it.
That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'

So the Official Forums, Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter aren't enough!? It's not like Discord has any advantage of the other platforms.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
I already have enough Discord servers I am subscribed to, do not want anymore. Wish that they would use the official forums more and they be consistent with what they say on Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit.
I mean recently Discord has been breaking my games due to their livestreamer feature latching onto them and making them impossible to play due to frame ghosting/tearing/general destruction in ways I cannot fix despite uninstalling, deleting registry keys, folders, and disabling of it all its options, but otherwise it's free, has good voice options, and communities to find players.
Also, STO does have a discord channel, but wouldn't see any point to making it official considering the general cost-cutting attitude of games in general and other limitations of upholding whatever official corporation rules. Devs of other games are part of such channels just fine and apparently do use them without making them official.

Reddit is not official, in the sense that it is not run/managed by Cryptic.

While I dont like discord, most of their competition got an official discord and they need to be more flexible to attract more players so I am not negative towards it, but on a personal standpoint I dont care so much for it too as long as I can see announcements on their forums and twitter
Suprised for the dislike for discord, but I accept the opinions, I am sure I am there are those who use discord more than they view website, although I been thinking of being more involved on the forums.
The Devs dont listen to us here, I doubt having another option would make a difference. Besides, it would be another thing they would have to manage and maintain.

The devs do listen to us here. They just do not always support our propositions.

Also, just because they do not reply, doesn't mean they didn't read it.

I'm already on more than enough Discord servers. An official STO one, if big enough, would probably end up like the few big ones I'm in: Muted and then forgotten.
Ok gosh, we get it.
Now onto the point as to why I want it. First and foremost, detailed patch notes and gamer/developer notification is vital and I for one and complete sick of living in this post beta release world of games. P2W is enough to deal with as it is and goes against the entire MMO genre to begin with.
The entire point of this request is actually very simple and it most likely will not pertain to anyone who made posts above making jokes, although some were funny.
I and at least two other people I know, run a discord community. Gamers who play and have played together in MMO'S since MMO'S began back in Trade Wars. Yes, communities and places you wouldn't join, gotchya... But that doesn't change the fact that collectively our members are active and thriving.
Whichever Dev(s) are listening, we aren't asking for a fully functional Discord server. Only 2 Announcement Channels within a category named after a game, and repeated for each game under your wing. 1 announcement channel for News and the other for patch notes, timely added patch notes, I'll add. No Voice, No Chat needed. Yes, you have someone making those posts into Steam when the updates are posted. All I am asking is for that same person/team, to then also add those patch notes in text form to the discord announcement channel. Us community leaders can then follow those channels into the corresponding channels our gamers come to frequently within our communities, and that will automatically keep hundreds, if not thousands of people in the loop as well as engaged on the topic, in this case of the game we love and have held dear for over a decade. Announcement type channels is recently newly added tech to Discord. If your guys are stretched to thin, I would be happy to set it up for you in an automated way to pull from RSS within Steam and then pass the account over to others to administrate.
Yes guys, there are so many other places for this material, I agree but this isn't about that. Material needs to be dispensed in an official capacity by developers in a traffic palatable as well as financially freezable way. Their main website is obviously one and Discord should always be 2nd if relating to the MMO/RPG/COOP genre of gaming. Despite many of your posts that I have read, Discord is a platform that provides inclusion, as apposed to every single platform you all mentioned which all provide exclusion. MMO's are about communities and Discord directly supports this. Bringing people together is what MMO's are all about and luckily for us Most developers are on point in this same direction and leave places like Reddit and Twitter to the trolls. Loved that need for Snap btw, made me giggle.
Anyway Devs, please think this over and hit me up if you wish to continue this privately. I would surely be willing to help in any way that I can. I am however looking for a response from the Devs regardless of decision.

Link in that post is non-working. You need to use webchat.gamesurge.net or configure your now useless Pigeon for irc.gamesurge.net. IRC is great for your smartphone due to being text only and very low on bandwidth.
