What will be your T6 Coupon Ship? - Second edition

questeriusquesterius Member Posts: 8,309 Arc User
Would have preferred to continue the last topic, but alas it's several months old.
https://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline#/discussion/1248465/what-will-be-your-t6-coupon-ship

Now that the 3rd leg for our second T6 coupon is about to begin with the Borg resurgence it might be a good point to talk about which ship we're planning to claim with it.

I got the second T6 with the last event but haven't used it yet.

For the first T6 coupon i got the https://sto.gamepedia.com/Archon_Intel_Assault_Cruiser

For the second coupon i am still debating if i should get

Good ship and available for all factions

I like the miracle worker mechanics and the trait is interesting. Sadly this ship/trait would not be available to my KDF or KDF-Rom characters.
Also not a huge fan of the whole disco ships.

As i find myself often playing a supporting role and keeping a team alive this ships is also worth considering. Downside is access is limited to federation and the disco design.

I figured this one deserves an honorable mention.
As the only Non-Disco/lobi/box Klingon ship missing in my inventory i have had my eye on this one for a while. Drawback is that it is limited to KDF and KDF-Rom.

I will probably not make my choice till the 10th anniversary since i missed out of some free ships previous anniversaries/giveaways since i happened to have purchased the ships only weeks prior.

After that introduction, what will be your likely choice?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

First time around, I got the Gagarin. This time? I'm getting the Romulan Tebok.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

Got that ship. Interesting ship, but i generally prefer my warbirds a bit more maneuverable.

First time I got the Suliban FDC because I like the look of it and can now use it on my Fed toon, however I regret getting the Pralim as I now think it looks ugly and the setup of the Suliban is practically the same. I really wasn't sure what else to get with it.

I still have my first coupon and not quite got my second. I still have no idea which ship(s) I want to get with them.

At least they don't expire once you claim them lol.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

I am myself also not sure. May have to wait until they make another ship since I have almost all of the federation and non faction ships that have traits that can be used well with dps builds.

That's usually my baseline for getting a ship. If it massively increases dps or if it boost dps to a certain degree that makes it worth getting even if I shelf it for a while.

But I will say this the only two zen store traits I use with my current build is the Tactical Star Cruiser (Dam, Crit, and crit severity based fully on the launching of a torpedo. A single torpedo. And it last for 20 seconds and stacks to 3. So yu have increased crit chance and crit severity for almost the length of a tfo) and my all time fav Gagarin Miracle Worker Battle cruiser only because of the build I run it keeps and maintains Supremacy, Supercharged weapons, and can give you fire at will with the newly structured beam overload. So it literally gives you overload beam fire at will. Think about that. It's banana's. Hit beam overload hit one or two separate powers then hit torp spread and bam overload beam fire at will just firing all over the place. Bonkers. And if you are in a miracle worker ship hit beam overload then hit mixed armament synergy then torp spread.... its my own personal design Maneuver that i discovered months ago, would be nice if its named after me.)

But as for the other traits i have I barely used them since I have not had any reason to change my build as of late and probably not into the future unless they release another strong phaser or beam trait or severity trait then i may change but meh.

Yea I'd generally have to agree with your statement there, in the past I had been used to Cruiser's; yet as time moved on maneuverability is key.

I know you previously mentioned the Garagin which I have as you liked the Trait, yet claimed your KDF couldn't earn it; well it is also available on the Qugh Miracle Worker Battlecruiser for the KDF. But yet again the maneuverability factor, and having dual cannon support is pointless without a dual RCS [turn] console, or the difference made up with a SCI crafted console.

I love the Jhu'ael Tactical Carrier Warbird for my Rom's, and the Lafayette-class Recon Destroyer for my Fed's especially in Fleet versions of both.

hmm Maneuverability isn't as big an issue as it used to be. There are plenty of space traits (Deft Canoneer, Helmsman, Fleet Tactician, Fulcrum Shift, Lead Foot, Momentum) and Space Reputation traits (advanced Engines) and even egines and sets out there and the likes to cover any deficiency in a ships mobility.

Personally I like destroyers as well but if i had to choose between a destroyer and a light cruiser or a cruiser or a flight deck cruiser I would choose the cruiser, specifically the flight deck cruiser and add advanced engines and momentum or helmsman. Since it would come down to a lot more firepower for a little less mobility.

Only because I cant see myself choosing the Kline or the Section 31 or the Manticore or pretty much any of the current destroyers over well almost any of the Constitutions Heavy or Light cruiser specifically the Miracle Worker Flight Deck Carrier. They aren't even on the same scale map or league.

So it's understandable players would want to choose a or mobile ship but I believe their are ways to fix what is broken and break what is fixed. So much as you give up a lot less then you receive.

    @coldnapalm

So you haven't used your first coupon yet, is it because you have everything already or because there is nothing in Tier 6 you find interesting.

Honestly I'm unlikely to do the event.

    1) I have far, far more Ships then I know what to do with already, I really have neither the space nor time for another one. I have the Jupiter, FD Raptor, all three Cardassian Intel Ships, the Galor, The Jem'hadar Dreadnaught Cruiser, the Bajorian Interceptor, Corsair FDC, Corsair Retrofit FDC, Corsair Fleet FDC Upgrade, Daciot FDC, FDC Marauder, the T6 Breen Carrier, the Vorgon Carrier, ect..., I have sooo many ships that the only ones I really use for more then a trait and admirality card are Jupiter Carrier, Blackguard FDC and Damar Science Dreadnaught, the Jem'hadar Dreadnaught Cruiser, and the Bajorian Interceptor, and maybe the Ghemor FDC. Okay in practice I'll likely shorten that list to the Jupiter, Blackguard, Damar, and JDC. This is one of the reasons why I couldn't find the motivation to get the new Feklri Carrier despite how cool it is. No space left and no time.

    2) I'm sick as a dog and I don't want to.

    3) some day I might get some Odsessey class ships, especially if they allow the Jupiter to use its bridge , but I'm holding out to see what Picard Series causes STO to do in response .

I haven't used either Coupon yet. Any of the 'new' ships I haven't gotten are still stuck in the 'New' Tab. They keep using that word 'New' but I don't think they know what it means. ;)

I picked the Gagarin Miracle Worker Battle Cruiser for my second ship. I got the Narendra Support Cruiser for my first ship.

Personally, thanks to Romulan ships being claimable by all factions, I'm going for Dewan Ikkabar Pilot Escort, as I want it's trait for both KDF and Fed/Allied Science ships. Not a huge fan of its looks, but I saw one the other day and they've at least fixed the animations on it now.

Last token I got a second KDF Command Battlecruiser for it's visual parts to combine with the Ty'gokor Tactical version, for a ship closer a Stargate BC-304 (like the Odyssey) in looks when the Section 31 Vanity shield is applied. Kinda want the third ship for a different neck part, but not spending a token for that.

Also not a huge fan of the whole disco ships.

The 25C model of the Gagarin is very nice and fits into STO well, so you'd probably want the C-Store skin for sure. Though, the 23C Disc. model doesn't look too bad if you put on the TOS-style 'Type 0' skin, it still has the the square-ish nacelles and all that, but it looks a lot more like a transition from a pre-TOS design than the base skin. Great performing ship too. I can't stand the Qugh's look, though, and only grabbed it for the Trait.

Keep in mind that if you're really wanting the 24C Negh'var skins as seen in TNG and DS9 you could go for the Fleet version on a toon, which isn't too hard if you're willing to grind through Tier 6 in 5 Reputations and pay 100 Marks each for Fleet Ship Modules. I've been flying the C-store version on an alt recently, and I like it more than when it first came out, as it came out in a 'beams are the greatest' era, but now you can use Dual Heavy Cannons quite effectively out of those nice large under-slung pods.

I found out that the 4th newest ship released no longer counts as new and therefore becomes available for the token.

I'm pretty sure it is related to how long (actual time) they have been released and the order not counting backwards.

Well they didn't seem to be clear on exactly how long it has to be before a new ship no longer counts as new, I simply noticed how the least newest ship which was four ship packs ago the Buran and how it is no longer in the new list in the c-store.

nothing; I intentionally missed most of the days available during the last event, so I don't have enough earnt points for this new coupon, and i don't want to spend x days to kill borg, I do already too many times these tfos. I'm going to avoid the button "random" during the event.

I got a Hathos. That is a great little ship.

I put together a fun build with it doing something I wanted to try for a while. Running 3 torpedo doffs, I have a Kelvin photon torpedo which has a 4s cycle instead of the usual 6, and paired it with a Neutronic torpedo. It works just like you imagine, the Kelvin fires fast enough to possibly trigger the Doffs which fires the torpedo which triggers the Doffs, and with the Neutronic set to fire with priority ahead of the Kelvin, the big boy fires first whenever that is off CD, which can happen very quickly thanks to how fast the Kelvin typically fires.

I had considered the Kentari rockets but since I use CRF 3 and HYT 3 for massive single target damage, I don't use them since they become a slow destructible torp with HY.

Of course none of that requires the Hathos to do, but the other part of that build is using the Hathos trait alongside the Qulash trait for some silly EM fun. If I sit still rather than try to run away with EM, I can disable everyone around, and 8s later I have a nice damage buff, which is a great time to use the console (not that I have that sense of timing to use it then.) The railgun console is pretty awesome on its own, but if I only have 1 big dreadnought target for the console to fire at, this ship becomes a real deadly assassin.

I'm sitting on both coupons right now and cannot decide what my "strategy" for using them should be since I usually use zen on ships that I desperately want.

    - Do I use them on ships that I don't really want to fly simply for the trait (e.g., Tebok for redirecting arrays); or
    - Use them on ships that I like, but not enough to use zen to acquire since they'd be used for a very short, limited time period (like the Archon - I like Sovereign look, but prefer destroyers like the temporal warships)

I dunno what ship to get. I pretty much have all the ships I want. Those I want which I do not have forever remain out of reach.
Because I'm not willing to take out a second mortgage or sell my children into slavery to raise 2+ billion in EC.

When I first began playing this game, a stranger gifted my brand new Klingon TAC with a complete set of Mirror Universe Klingon ships. I was stunned by his generosity. I offered to pay him for what was an incredible haul back then. He refused any sort of payment. Except for one.

He told me someday I would be in a similar position to the one he was in at the time. And when I found myself there, to take advantage of it by gifting a ship to someone who had just begun playing STO. So they could enjoy STO as much as he did and I do.

So, since I cannot get a ship I want, I'll give my Coupon to someone else. Did the same thing with my 1st Coupon.

I'm not recommending or encouraging others do this. It's your Coupon. You worked hard to earn it. I'm also not posting this as a way to draw attention. So I can virtue signal and proclaim publicly I'm a "Good Person". HAH! Most of you know I'm probably one of the biggest [TRIBBLES] you'll ever meet.

The OP asked what ship I'll get with my 2nd Coupon.
Whatever ship some new player, who would not have a chance to own it otherwise, thinks is the most fun to fly.
I hope they fly the pixels off of it.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
