I am not re-downloading the game because the game would not start. At least i will have a fresh copy on my computer, shame this has happened twice in the last month.
what exactly does it do when you try to log in? Does it just lock up and TRIBBLE out, and when it craps does it give any kind of an error code or message? The more information you guys can provide the better so I can pass this up the chain.

it just locks up and after that does nothing. As if its looking for something, the piza wheel is rolling on but nothing is happening.
I re-downloaded the whole game, turned off my pc for 30 seconds, and turned it back on, started up the game and it locked up again. after ten minutes of trying and restarting my PC i finally got it to work. I play many other much heavier games on my system, it runs them perfectly, but somehow this game has stopped performing the way it should. I get seriously bad lag spikes, which i deal with, the game doesn't run as smooth, even in low 1080p graphics (I run in 4k with a 1660 card) never had an issue with this game for many months or even years, until now.
This is what happened the last time, the wheel started rolling and nothing was happening. I went into task manager and it stated that it was locked, Zero CPU usage, but 24 Mb in memory.
When the next patch comes out I do not wish to have to spend a few hours downloading the dame yet again because it crashes and refuses to work.
@lashedtodeck#3095 In that instance I want you to do a trace route for me. This will let us see the route your rig is taking to get to the Cryptic server. This will also give us an idea of where the issue could be, either your end, their end, or somewhere in the middle. If it's somewhere in the middle then there's nothing much that can be done save trying to re-route your connection down another path, but even that wouldn't work depending on where the issue is. The internet is still largely wired and it's not a straight line path to the servers. Instead data is routed over several hops, sort of like a snail mail network, just digital. Sometimes there are issues along the mail route or at certain "sorting centers" if you will.
To run a tracer route bring up your windows command prompt.
Once you bring up the prompt enter the following into the box and press enter: tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com
Once you've done this it will take a minute or two to run it and will display all the hops your connection takes to get to the server. wait until the trace is complete, then copy and paste the data here, or to me via PM if you're not comfortable with doing it here.
@renata666 it probably couldn't hurt for you to do a trace either. For you I do have an additional question or two. When it gives you the server timed out message, is this just the regular server or does it mention account server? Also can you grab a screenshot of the error message just so I can send that on as well?

So, it appears it was the WiFi service at the hospital I was in for the previous 5 days. Everything is working just fine at home. The only thing that puzzles me is why some characters could log in and some couldn't. Very strange.
A tracert would not tell you what the problem is when the program is not even connecting to the server as it did not at the time even leave my own network. If you have the wheel turning before it tries to connect then its a fault with the EXE program and not something which comes after. I did tracerts, pings and everything was perfect so I know it was nothing to do with logging into or connecting to the server that way, this is why I pointed out that it was down to the update itself and nothing more.
Once I re-downloaded the whole game again, and then a little bit of allowing the program through my firewall (as it needed permission due to being a new program, as I have my firewall set-up this way,) then I finally got it to work.
Yes I did check my firewall was not blocking the updated game, yes I did check other settings which could have caused an issue which could have created this problem, and yes the game failed at that time. As I stated, two updates and two full re-installs of the game is not a good start to anybodys day.
As I said, there was nothing wrong with the connection to the server it was actually something wrong with the program itself. If i could have given you data to show what was wrong I would, but there just wasn't any as it did not crash, no crash report, it just hung with the wheel just turning.
I did not have this issue so not sure how they could track down what is causing this to happen to certain players and not happen to other players. Sorry you had that experience. Thanks.
