The Account Bank, Greyed out items

captaincelestialcaptaincelestial Member Posts: 1,925 Arc User
I'm glad that the account bank now fits in the bank UI, but there's a bit of a problem with the greying out items when the player is selected in the character status UI.

I understand that greying out items was supposed to help the player sort items that would be 'ground' items, like rifles and pistols.

Personally, I'd rather get rid of that. Possibly have an option in the Options UI to be able to toggle it off or on.

What makes the greying out worse is that all items are now greyed out when the character is selected in the Character Status screen.

Right now, in the character inventory, ship items are greyed out as well as the Tardigrades (Smarty and the Non-combat Tardigrade; the combat Tardigrade never became available to me, despite purchasing the main Disco Operations Pack), which should not be greyed out at all.

Not entirely sure what you're on about here, but I'd hazard a guess that greyed out items are Character Bound and will not go into the Account Bank. So it is correct that ship items and the Tardigrades are greyed.

Press the I key to open inventory instead of using the U key to open it as a side effect of the ship + player status screen.

When opened together with the ship + player status screen, items are disabled to stop you from dragging them to the ship or captain / boff gear set.

For the account bank, open it without also having the status window open.

This context-based disabling also happens when you open the Exchange, to disable bound items that you are not allowed to sell.

All items that characters can use, whether they are character bound or account bound, under the current syestem is supposed to be (for lack of a better term) lit up while on a ground/ship map.

Which means, regardless of whether the items are in the bank, account bank or character inventory, items usable by characters are supposed to be lit up (such as Tardigrades, Reputation items (Alien Power Cells, etc.), R&D items (Entertainment Provisions, etc.), Dilithium Mining Claims, Launch Toy Rocket, and Featured TFO Commendations) when the character is selected.

Looking into my character bank for my Gorn character, even the Summer Event Tropical Tags and my left over Risian Feather Monkey Baby - Red, as well as the Nerve Tonics To Go (all from the Spectres story arc) are greyed out. All items that are earned/used by the character on ground maps.

One thing that hasn't changed is the red highlights around empty slots (that's supposed to show up when someone moves an item that's supposed to be character bound tries to put that item into the Account Bank) still lights up even when trying to put something is account bound (such as the Lockboxes). Mind you, this is probably a hold over from when some items were originally character bound but were later opened up to the other characters on your account.

Anyways, if the greying out of items are supposed help distinguish between what's usable in either form, then character items should be greyed out while the ship is selected. I'm sure the same problems that's showing up when the character is selected will show up for the ship items as well.

It would be better to just get rid of the greying out 'feature' or enable the ability to option out of it.

So tell me why everything is lit up when the ship is selected?

There are times when everything in the Account Bank is grayed out. If you run your mouse cursor over an item the gray is removed.

Lazy programming, tbh. And so deeply embedded in the code that it'd be wasteful to assign someone to fix it when they could be working on the next gamble-box.
