welcome to the party ive been getting something to that effect very often i have even reported the error to the devs many times without fail it does nothing they do nothing at this point it falls on deaf ears im afraid but it crashes on me i noticed after a finite amount of times i do like a crazy switching back n fourth like 20 ,30 times between several toons/characters sometimes its not even that it could be switching between characters once each time and ill get it but it does happen im just glad someone else has finally brought this subject up as i had given up any hope of them fixing this issue and i still say they will never fix this issue as the bug issue is a related to connection error that they want to blame on ps4 or your ISP Which most of the time is not the case but sometimes it could be but majority the time its not but they like to place blame on someone else or deflect the issue(s). PS4 error code CE-38700-8 every time it happens

but also avoid big instances like EDS or DS9 thats were i notice most of my crashes seem to happen the most often if you somehow are attached to ESD or DS9 try switching instances to less cluttered instance before switching characters .

Exactly the same thing starts happening to me after the launch of AoD now, ever 2nd or 3rd time crash to bluescreen on character switch. Had the issue before AoD perhaps once or twice at all, now regularly.

i keep getting crashes if i try to switch to a character that's on DS9, it usually takes a 2nd attempt before that character will load. This would be more annoying for Jem'hadar characters since ds9 is their home transwarp location.

I have the same problem. It usually happens on character switch, but I've had it crash once during start of dilithium mining and made me lose my voucher! Annoying error that needs to be fixed...

Since the end of the winter event my jem has been locked out due to this happening since the game punted all characters back to their "home" which is DS9 and now every time I try to log them on I get bluescreened back to the dashboard.

Happened a few times prior to winter (but after the shrinking of the station for VIL) so I made a point of never logging off while on the station but this was out of my control. Also avoid being on DS9 because the station is way too small and cramped for how clunky the game is on console.

Don't care to pass this up the chain but gonna need you guys to be alot more specific than this. When you attempt to switch toons, is there any kind of warning or does it just spaz out straight to blue screen? Also can you get me a photo of the blue screen showing any and all error codes present? Those codes help identify the problem if/when one arises.

    thx for you reply here!
next time this happens, i will check carefully, if there is some kind of an error-message in the blue-screen..
but i am very sure, from the game itself, there is no error message coming.. the ganme crashes, and i find my self in the ps4-bluescreen, which offers me to file a bug report (what i usually do).. but afaik, there is no error number as well

When it has happened to me, it happened when switching to a character that was on a public ground map the last time I logged off, such as Earth space dock or Klingon Academy. It allows you to select the character, then the loading screen is shown, progress bar progresses normally, and all appears fine. Just before the progress bar reaches the end, it stops, then the PS4 blue screen is shown. It asks to submit a report, which I always do along with a comment explaining as much as I know about what happened. It also automatically attaches a video of the past few minutes so developers can see themselves exactly where the crash occurred. I always assumed PSN forwarded those reports and videos to the developers at Cryptic, but maybe not? I don't recall myself the exact error code displayed.

I seem to have the least trouble logging in to characters that were left in sector space and the most problem with characters left on ground maps. DS9 is probably the worst place to log out on. People that do are the ones that report the most blue screens when trying to log back in to those.

Since the 10.00 update yesterday, March 5th, I have been getting this too.
I wiped the game and re-installed, but it still happens.

reinstalling any game rarely fixed anything for me, but deleting a settings file, sometimes did!
once i had a weird bug in sto, where i was not getting drop loot anymore.. i deleted the sto settings, and suddenly i got loot again - strange, but true..

I get this just about daily year round. I have 8 characters and switch between them semi-frequently. The game gives no warning. It just goes to the loading screen and then kicks to blue screen or simply goes to blue screen w/out even making it to the "loading" screen. I typically am switching characters from Earth Spacedock. It happens to me at least 3 or 4 times a day now since the Anniversary update.

Today I've been kicked 6x so far. At this point, no joke, I just expect the blue screen EVERY TIME I switch characters. If you can pass it up the chain darkbladejk I'd really appreciate it.

Been a few days since I was able to check this last. Weather in my area nearly blew me to the land of OZ before I was able to engage emergency transporters. That error code is extremely helpful and helps isolate the problem faster. If you guys get any different error codes than the one sleepwalker posted include them here and tag me or one of my cohorts in the post. I will pass this one up the chain.

I'm noticing that this is only happening to me when I attempt to load a character that was last left on DS9, or when attempting to beam/dock at DS9.

i just looked at my error codes as well an i can concur that i agree i get the exact same code every single fraking time i get the blue screen from STO and don't try and deflect like the game itself is not to blame for the majority of this issue because it is but so are other factors as well . @darkbladejk or what ever for saying we need proof i'll see if i can't rustle up some screen shots since you don't see this as game breaking issue to forward up the chain although it is improving but needs a permanent fix to it

They are not banning you for speaking your mind, you need to do it according to the rules of the terms of service which you have agreed upon. Also, how about posting what error codes you are getting when getting the blue screen instead of slamming Cryptic? Like you did previously in this thread. Cryptic has not abandoned the game. Thanks. :)

Dial it back guys, seriously. keep things focused on the issue at hand.

Secondly, it takes time for them to fix bugs properly. it's not as simple flipping switches as much as we all wish it was. coding is extremely precise and a single one or zero out of place can bring the entire thing crashing down. When trying to fix console bugs they must also work with Microsoft and Sony for their consoles respectively. I wish it was as simple as flipping switches but it's not. Simply because any one particular bug isn't fixed as fast as you would like it doesn't mean it will never get fixed. It simply means that for whatever reason, the fix is not ready yet. Depending on the severity of the break and how it's broken will determine how long it takes to get it fixed.

Same error code as everyone else (CE-38700-8). Happening a lot less today, thankfully.

Same issue, error CE-38700-8 when switching or logging on to characters located at ESD or DS9 ground maps. Usually it'll crash in the loading screen, occasionally it'll load my character and environment then crash immediately after.
