Question on ship size tech stats

atharun18999atharun18999 Member Posts: 66 Arc User
Is there any resource that shows the size of the in game ships? Namely length, decks, etc... Given that I captain a Mercury class pilot escort, I have always been curious as to how many decks she is supposed to have and what her length is supposed to be given that she is fairly larger than a Defiant class. Also looking at the Enterprise J ships i game, how many decks does that ship have given how flat it is? Those little details are fun to me so if anyone may provide a resource I'd be very appreciative.

Thank you. Based on that, I feel like th Fed pilot ships are too bulky and could be streamlined a bit. I doubt it will ever happen but would be nice.

For any canon ships (eg. Galaxy, Intrepid, Sovereign, Defiant, Connnie etc.) you should be able to piece together the info you are looking for from sites like Memory Alpha, Memory Beta, Star Trek.com and Wikipedia.

This site has a lot of info. too - not sure how canon accurate it is though.

I agree, I should have been more specific in that I am looking for he stats on the in game non-show/canon ships

There's also the problem that ship size isn't entirely accurate in STO due to gameplay issues. People have to be able to see things, and thus most smaller ships are upscaled in game to be more visible. How else can a Vesta with Danube Runabout pets have Danubes almost the size of a Defiant?

I speak from experience on that one. I was parked next to my Fleet Leader's Defiant, and my runabouts were almost as big as his Defiant! We all lol'd over that.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

I don't think those are correct given that the Aquarius would be larger than the Defiant and the Mercury Class pilot escort would be nearly double the size of the Defiant. Then again in game scale but I cold have sworn there was an article about the in game ship scale from Salami Inferno a few years back on how they size ships.

I can guarantee those are correct as they're direct mesurments from the in-game models. The Aquarius is indeed longer than the Defiant. You can directly measure the model or scale it from the length of the Oddy. The pilot escorts are much larger than the Defiant as you can tell from the number of decks (about 10 vs the Defiant's 5).

The game even uses the largest onscreen size for the Defiant (170m) in order to make it visable but they very rarely make a ship smaller than it (The Pioneer and Daedalus are the only two that come to mind).

Indeed, but the Dev's have acknowledged and explained why Small Craft are larger than they should be. All Starships in-game are to relative scale to each other however.

Parking my Mercury next to a defiant, if the Defiant is in the 170 range and the merc is listed as 300, I am not seeing it in game because I don't see it as nearly 2x as long. I could see the merc as closer to 230 range but 300 seems like a lot.

In sector space there's a lot of issues with aligning the plane correctly. In the foundry the planes are locked automatically. I can always double check when it comes online again as I once had a contact (one of the Defiant refits) that was four times the size of the others and didn't resale back to normal until after a patch.

In general, the regular ship scale is canon-accurate, where such a thing can be precisely determined. (The defiant's size is pretty variable on screen). Deep Space Nine is intentionally larger than in canon to not disappear among all those ships trying to dock it. Shuttles are oversized.

Determining the exact deck numbers from these values from non-canon ships is of course guesswork, since there is no guarantee that deck heights match across different ships. But windows might give indicators (but I am not sure that the different Window options are all entirely consistent.)
