Revisiting....taking warp core breach damage BEFORE the enemy ship even explodes

This TRIBBLE is getting really OLD. I take out an NPC ship, the death spin animation hasn't even started yet, and I've already suffered the EXCESSIVE amount of warp core breach damage, which gives me absolutely NO chance of taking ANY kind of preventative action.

Maybe animation is slower and can not keep up with the computation part of the program?

Lag can be a real itch. It's even worse, for me, trying to roll away from grenades in ground combat. The little circle appears, I frantically tap the keys, a second later the grenade goes boom and I watch my dead body tuck and roll away from the explosion. Even more fun is watching my toon tuck and roll away only to rubber band right back and then go flying from the boom. Good times.

For space combat, I keep an eye on the enemy ships health and start turning away just before it goes to zero because by the time it shows on my screen, pretty much guaranteed the ship is actually already dead with a warp core boom on it's way already.
    LTS and loving it.

I definitely wouldn't rule out the possibility of lag, but it's hard to tell when it IS lag, because I'm not being rubber-banded, nor am I experiencing longer than usual load or map transition times. Problem is that it's so intermittent. I do know that I didn't experience this problem until ViL was released. I'll try an be more observant as to what ships, or what TYPES of ships this happens more frequently on. For example, the last two vessels this happened on, were BOTH Tholian Recluse ships in the Red Alert. I even tried your approach of turning away before the NPC health reached zero, but that didn't work either. The last cannon barrage I fired before turning away, finished him off, which took me out the very instant the NPC health reached zero. Hell, MY ship exploded before the NPC did!

One thing I have found that doesn't fix the problem but at least reduces the frustration level is a skill in the Pilot Specialization. If you get to Tier 3 and purchase the "Scratch the Paint" skill, it will give you immunity to one Warp Core Breach per minute (when the specialization is selected as primary). Some times I will see it working in missions when I am close to an exploding ship, and I see a single red "Immune" pop up over my ship in the damage stats.

If you are in a furball of capital ships, it doesn't always help, but if they aren't all exploding at the same time it reduces the chance of you getting taken out. One thing to watch out for is Borg ships; it seems like a lot of their ships, noticeably the larger ones, get two successive detonations when they die. I'll get the "Immune" pop up, but then it explodes again and does a few tens of thousands of damage.

Yeah experiencing this since last maintenance..Did a Borg RA..Went boom along with the cube as I was turning away, wasn't rubber banding or jumping all over the map..When I saw the toggle on the Defeat popup..Saw warp core breach xxxxxx damage..For the time being will be firing from a distance beyond 2 kms just to be sure not to get caught in the breach zone..

PS: I like to hug targets and go all out..Also makes Ramming speed more potent and likely to work..
