Dilithium Market

constellusconstellus Member Posts: 32 Arc User
Hello all !

Just have a question, hope someone can clarify why.

With The Phoenix Prize Pack and 20% Key Sale and Keyring Bundle should not the Dilithium Market be cheaper ? keys on the exchange are almost the same or the same price and the Dilithium Market is more expensive then before those 2 events start.

In the meantime, thank you so much for your attention and participation.

It is two factors pulling in opposite directions. Phoenix packs increase the dilithium value. The key sale increase the zen value. And then there is the services sale increasing zen value too.
Basically we desire both right now.
So the market gets a bit unpredictable.

If you're looking to cash in Dilithium for Zen, wait until the Flash Sale is over in a couple hours and it will start to drop.

We're also in an Infinity Lock Box event so once the sale ends, Master Key Prices will start to increase. If you want keys, buy them right now.. if you are looking to sell keys, hold onto them for a day or two.

The exchange tends to dip over the weekend during a phoenix event then rise again.

Was about 270 prior to the event so probably go down to 245-250 over saturday/sunday.

There's no 'should be' at all. The Dil Market is determined primarily by players more than the events themselves. Sure the Phoenix box events affect it, but that's only because of the numbers of players buying and selling Dil.

Anything that increases the desirability of Dilithium will bring the Zen prices down.
Anything that increases the desirability of Zen will bring the Zen prices up.
Anything that floods the market with Dilithium will bring the Zen prices up.

So... Events or things that take Dilithium, such as the Phoenix Box, will bring the prices down. Back when fleets were still working on the Starbase, that really brought the exchange rate down.

Events, like sales, new C-Store items, and new lockboxes, typically make Zen more desirable, and raise the prices.

Back when people would run certain events on multiple characters for maximum Dilithium reward, and when the big prize was Character Unlock, events like the Crystalline Entity would flood the market, driving Zen prices up until the surplus was worked through.

I've worked the Exchange long enough to be able to identify these kinds of patterns.

The Phoenix Box would want to bring the exchange prices down because players want Dilithium to get extra boxes.
However, with the flash sale, Zen is still desirable, so it counters.
New lockbox... its not gonna hit quite yet so while people can start speculating, I don't see an immediate effect on Exchange rates. We'll most likely see a bit of a spike when the box is released. However we are in an Infinity Box event, and that means access to a LOT of older lockbox stuff, including Discovery gear.

In this case its hard to say how low the exchange rates will drop because we have so many factors in play right now.

Bear in mind we just had an event ending, which means 50,000 dilithium for every character (and this immediately after another event)

50,000 for every Character that wanted to grind. :)
