I wouldn't mind having several skins to use for the Federation Chimeara ship! They'd have to change the console's animations a bit for the TOS style graphics for things like they did with the 23rd century skills but I'm okay with that!
If someone came in here trying to say Jems shouldn't get a vet ship, they'd get boo'd out of the thread. They can use Fed and KDF vet ships, after all! How are they any different from TOS, then? Obviously they shouldn't even bother making one.
Jems shouldn't get a vet ship. No, seriously, they shouldn't (and I am one, in case you wondered). Jems got so many freebie leg-ups already, it's outrageous as it is. Not that I'm complaining, LOL, but I wouldn't dare ask for a vet ship on top of everything else.
We got a free, iconic T5U bug-ship. Consider that your vet-ship, if you must feel you got one.
Very slight deviation of topic, but it always made me laugh that STO made the Bugship, in it's various in-game forms, into some sort of ubership. Not sure what they based that on, as the canon version was pretty useless - it's greatest weapon was suicide!
Do you remember the days before Tier 6 ships and Delta Rising? She was a monster back then, and old T5 Bugship was only starting to have somewhat closer competition with some of the last batches of excellent Escorts that were coming out before Delta Rising.
The Fed Tempest, Undine Nicor being examples. But before those new ships could really make a statement, BAM!
Tier 6, yo!
OBSOLETE!
Yeah - I remember it well.
Still maintain that I don't know why they've always made them so uber though. Again, in canon their greatest destructive power was suicide runs!
When they were first encountered, the JHFs were capable of shooting right through the U.S.S. Odyssey's shields. They just about wrecked a Galaxy class ship with their initial volley.
It wasn't until later the series writers reigned in the JHFs capabilities until they were as bad or worse than Klingon BoPs. Probably because the Alliance was supposed to have a plausible chance against them, even though the Dominion should be a couple thousand years more advanced than most Alpha Quadrant species.
The truth is, that first encounter is the most plausible for an empire that was conquering their section of the galaxy while humans were probably sailing around on wooden ships and crossing the ocean was a major endeavor. The Alpha Quadrant alliance should have been steamrolled all the way through. Plot armor is the only thing that really saved them.
Now, whether the in game JHFs are based on that first episode or just made uber to sell keys for gambling boxes or a mix of the two, only Cryptic could say for sure.

They ignored the Oddy's shields. But even then they weren't really able to take it down quickly, and eventually resorted to a kamikaze attack to stop it from escaping. The Captain was willing to give O'Brien 5 minutes to get Sisko out, which suggests he believed the ship to be capable of lasting that long against the incoming fire. We don't know how much time has actually passed, though, until the kamikaze attack happened.
Later, the Federation managed to find away to make shields work against the Dominion again, and from then on, they had a lot less advantage.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
The dominion might have well stagnated in terms of technological progression on their military side as they seem to be the ones who crush anything before it gets close to being a challenge.
Probably partly why the hurq became enough of an issue for them to require outside aid.
Honestly i would not mind two things. I would not mind a Dominion vet ship as I see the dom faction as a baby mini-faction like the Romulans. I could see them using the Warship or a heavy warship design, even a warship design that would mimic the style fo the older tier five ship design elements.
The other thing is that they don't have a polaron quad cannon you can get via their ships, which is strange as each of the main-faction with an energy type associated with them have had a quad-cannon weapon of that energy type you can get (fed/tos phaser quad, Romulan plasma quad, and a disruptor quad for the kdf). I don't think each energy type needs a quad cannon for them, though via the lockboxes you could add one for each, but atleast each faction that has a specific energy type connected to them should have a quad cannon of that type on one of their ships.
What now you want a ship? Victory is life, not ships!
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
What now you want a ship? Victory is life, not ships!
Well of course. i mean you go into battle to claim your lives, you need ships to live in space, and weapons on those ships to defeat your enemies, which allows you to win an claim your lives once more. so victory is ships

This.
I loathe how some view the destruction of the Odyssey. That 'inital volley' had NOTHING to do with how powerful the JH Attack Ships were and everything to do with Starfleet being entirely unfamiliar with phased polaron weapons, and having no counter for it.
Despite that, the Odyssey withstood the attack and was able to attempt escape under it's own power. The Jem'Hadar, having failed to destroy her with weaponsfire, had to Kamikaze her to get the job done.
This is NO failing on the part of the Galaxy class. Put ANY ship in the Odyssey's place, you get the same result.
Even though it is silly to argue over technicalities in a series as wildly inconsistent as Star Trek was, I will just for fun paraphrase the dialogue between Kira and Sisko as to why they kamikaze'ed:
Kira: Why did they do that?! They were retreating!
Sisko: To show how far they're willing to go.
Not because "that's the only way they could get the job done".
Anyway, if it makes sense to you that a highly advanced civilization that had at least two millennia head start in interstellar technology they used to conquer every species in their quadrant used junk ships with weak weapons to do it, you're entitled to your beliefs. My belief is and always will be writer bias and plot armor are the only things that allowed the Fed/Rom/Klingon alliance to win, based on logic. And even with that on their side they still only barely scraped by.
The best analogy I can think of is if we took any modern army in the world and fought, let's say the Romans. Given that both sides are aware of the conflict and the disposition of the respective armies, who would win? Hell, I'll do one better, any modern army versus Napoleon army. The tech gap isn't even that wide there. Even modern army vs WW II army?

This was pure speculation on Sisko's part. He'd only just encountered the Jem'Hadar for the very first time here.
The TOS "faction" is a glorified tutorial not a faction.
The roms and jems are similar to this in a way but much closer to each other in that they can then choose which faction they join and still have something of their own identity.
TOS is the federation, just older.
That's a very accurate description of the "TOSlings".
And they also have access to the 25th Century Fed one...so no real reason to make a 23rd century one.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

Your entire reasoning, regret to say, is flawed. For starters, the notion that a 'two millennia head start' means anything significant. Species don't necessarily develop at the same rate. And precisely because the Dominion conquered everyone in their own backyard, a cogent case could be made to say their weapons development ere got TRIBBLE, as a result of complacency, rather than accelerated. And the strength of the Dominion was primarily in their numbers, and the ferocity of the Jem'Hadar. But once cut off from the Gamma Quadrant, their defeat was ultimately inevitable -- albeit costly.
Automatic word censoring has been on forums for a long time, it's nothing new but not all forums do it. Also generalizing a whole generation is a pretty ignorant thing to do.

That would be really cool!
As for a Jem vet destroyer I have hopes that we get one sooner than later. Come to think of it there isn’t even a veteran material option on the Jem ships. I think that and the fact that Jems can’t claim the respective faction counterparts of the vet ship are the major hints that there is something instore for us with the next LTS sale.

That still doesn't eliminate the possibility that they couldn't do it. Kira just established there wasn't a tactical reason to keep attacking the Odyssey - she was retreating, the Jem'Hadar won the battle.
Sisko doesn't neccessarily mean that the suicide run was done to make the point. The destruction of the Odyseey despite them retreating could be the point. It establishes that transgressions of any kind will lead to severe consequences, and the Dominion isn't forgiving.

Romulans didn't get one right away either. I think this is just a question about waiting. But a good idea to bring it up so there is atleast focus on it.
On that note, TOS era characters haven't gotten one either, could be fun to see one for them in a TOS era style ship, instead of current era fed ship thats already ingame. But not counting on it, since its been so long now.

I always took the kamikaze run to be the logical outcome of a victory is life mentality of failure means death so they had no real choice but to do it.
Had a look at the skin options for jem ships and they made me remember how much I like the white skin romulans get. Jem ones seem too obsessed by the colour purple.
