Frequency "Puzzle" in Quark's Lucky Seven

svecksveck Member Posts: 18 Arc User
Although this mini-game/puzzle has existed in missions before and presented no difficulty - since all one theoretically has to do is plus or minus until the frequency is correct - I have tried it repeatedly. Eleven times last night, and several times today. I cannot get it to do anything other than start the puzzle over. Please help.

I take it no one can help in any way? Feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone with this simple puzzle/mini-game that I've done many times before, that after TENS of attempts on this mission, it will just not let me complete. As a lifetimer, fleet owner, and avid player, this is a SERIOUS BUMMER to me. Without any live support for the game, my only option may be to just leave the game behind. Depressing. :(

There is a certain number of attempts before the entire thing resets. There are 3 sets as you know. and you have to do the entire thing in under the number of tries you are allotted before it will reset on you. This I believe you know but I find it strange yours keeps resetting after so many tries... it has to be unluck if you are doing it correctly.

I can't finish it as well due to "lag" and non/slow responsiveness of my machine and/or my connection or the server etc (I don't know the exact reason but the effect here is the same - ). Time runs out (one minute overall for all the sets, and you don't always know if a click "counted" or not, while the click which "counted", advance slowly)... Gave up for now.

We arrived up to here, the quest is nice, please allow us to skip it after multiple tries or have the option to raise the time limit. It's not fun to have motor difficulties and a "lagging" comp (on the border of crashing on sto, which indeed crashed multiple times on the 4th quests,) and having to try this again and again and again without any way to advance.

It's not a set number of attempts but a set time, 1 minute, to get all 3 done. This isn't like most other frequency match puzzles in the game, in that it has a specific target number that you must hit, rather than a close enough range, and it only gives you an approximate range for what the target frequency is. Go by 5s until you get to where the direction changes, then by 1s of the opposite value to get it pinned own. Once the Lower changes to Higher, or vice versa, you should have no more than 4 more clicks to go.

If you're having lag/unresponsiveness, though, I could see where this could be very frustrating.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

When I tried it on Sunday, I did not notice the timer over to the other side of the screen. So, it kept resetting on me. Once I noticed that countdown clock...I was OK.

Good words here all (sorry can't find a better way to say) and thanks for putting this whole info nicely and clearly for all of us.
I will try again (later today or tomorrow) and hope will have a better luck regarding unresponsiveness etc. (yes, that's was my problem, along with getting tired from trying a lot this way)

    P.S.
I also personally thank you for the info regarding the 3 set only - it seems there is a chance then in other tries :)

Yes, you get another try if your minute runs out without finishing. You won't get the accolade for completing it in one try, but you can keep trying. Keep watching the window where it says if you need to be Higher or lower and you should be able to get it done.

I tried and tried and tried again. After I gave it a chance again. It's no go it seems.
Please give people a chance to skip it / double the timer if, say, they fail it for twenty tries or more.

It's not reasonable that such a silly puzzle would block my whole progress in a non skippable quest, due to a combination of a bad comp/lag (non responsiveness/slow responsiveness) and mild motorical/really bad coordination issues

And no I don't have a theoretical issue in completing it. I know how it's done. Only a practical one.

    P.S.
While I tried for long, I will try again tomorrow, but still wanted to say thank you for the quest itself it was really fun and refreshing to play - beside sadly that I've got frustrated by being unable to finish the puzzle due to non responsiveness/slow responsiveness and how my hands/coordination are. I really liked the quest itself.
