Although this mini-game/puzzle has existed in missions before and presented no difficulty - since all one theoretically has to do is plus or minus until the frequency is correct - I have tried it repeatedly. Eleven times last night, and several times today. I cannot get it to do anything other than start the puzzle over. Please help.

We arrived up to here, the quest is nice, please allow us to skip it after multiple tries or have the option to raise the time limit. It's not fun to have motor difficulties and a "lagging" comp (on the border of crashing on sto, which indeed crashed multiple times on the 4th quests,) and having to try this again and again and again without any way to advance.
If you're having lag/unresponsiveness, though, I could see where this could be very frustrating.

Good words here all (sorry can't find a better way to say) and thanks for putting this whole info nicely and clearly for all of us.
I will try again (later today or tomorrow) and hope will have a better luck regarding unresponsiveness etc. (yes, that's was my problem, along with getting tired from trying a lot this way)
P.S.
I also personally thank you for the info regarding the 3 set only - it seems there is a chance then in other tries
Please give people a chance to skip it / double the timer if, say, they fail it for twenty tries or more.
It's not reasonable that such a silly puzzle would block my whole progress in a non skippable quest, due to a combination of a bad comp/lag (non responsiveness/slow responsiveness) and mild motorical/really bad coordination issues
And no I don't have a theoretical issue in completing it. I know how it's done. Only a practical one.
P.S.
While I tried for long, I will try again tomorrow, but still wanted to say thank you for the quest itself it was really fun and refreshing to play - beside sadly that I've got frustrated by being unable to finish the puzzle due to non responsiveness/slow responsiveness and how my hands/coordination are. I really liked the quest itself.
