Camera bugged since may 22 update

awesomeweaselawesomeweasel Member Posts: 265 Arc User
ever since the may 22 update the camera is all buggy, when beaming down to any place or loading a character that is out of the ship the camera spins around my character all buggy, and when watching cut scenes that can not be skipped the camera zooms way out them jump back to where it should be a few times during the cut scene all while spinning around.

just to name a couple spots it was very bad:

during the mission stranded in space during the opening cut scene the camera kept circling around while moving further from the play area, then when I beamed down to the freighter the camera circled my character and then when I beamed back to my ship it circled around the freighter and kept circling and pulling back until I was able to see the inside on the freighters layout.

during the mission diplomatic orders when landing the shuttle on vulcan the camera kept circling and moving way out making it seem to take long for the shuttle to land than usual.

normally I would deal with the bug and hope for a speedy fix, but this camera bug is very annoying and almost makes me sick from the spinning and random zooming in and out of the camera during the cut scenes and beaming to places.

same issue here and also to add doing some pves have texture popin the worse 2 are undine assault and gateway to grethor.. and kerratt has missing textures until you zoom in or out manually,
map transfering doing missions is causing crashes to the homescreen and even doing daily crafting/admiralty/duty officers missions sometimes results in a hard lockup and again a crash to the homescreen.
i have a brand new xbox one X and since this update alot of the game has become almost unplayable the camera spinning and auto zooming in and out is infuriating..
please fix this camera bug and play undine assault to see the graphical issues, its hard to explain without actually being in the mission when tuvok calls out an errant rift and you have to litrally fly to the area change camera distance and thats just to get the textures to popin...

I’ve been having similar issues. The most glaring one is in Renegade’s Regret, where if I inspect the center mural, the camera becomes locked on the temple entrance. After that, I can move the character, but the camera doesn’t follow. It makes it impossible to continue as you can’t see the inside of the temple. It’s a pretty glaring bug, but since it’s an optional objective, simply not inspecting that mural let’s me complete the mission. This doesn’t happen with the other murals in the mission.

Other than that, I’ve noticed the camera zooming way out, then extremely close in when transferring maps or starting queues.

Had the same issue pop up, fixed it by beaming to orbit then re-entering the mission.

Just like everyone above already said, I am having the same issues. Graphics and camera angle are all messed up. Please fix this on the next patch.

Today is June 7 and the camera shenanigans are still going on throughout the game. Doesn't matter what content is being played, the UI camera is possessed since the last update. I know that there was one set for today, but for God's sake do I hope that Cryptic fixed this mess. Playing the game is extremely annoying when the camera wants to warp in and out of the frame in nonsensical ways. In case you guys are wondering where to look for a fix on consoles, this all began with the addition of The Renegade's Regret. Hint?

A mere five comments? Is everyone not experiencing this ridiculous glitch? Please listen to captainwells; he is not blowing smoke out of his backside. Wonky camera actions are occupying the whole galaxy here and yes, it is growing tiresome ...........

I'm also experiencing these strange issues. I left a comment on another rather unspecific post about this issue.

These camera issues have been happening since Renegade's Regret was added into the game. I've never had any issues beforehand.

This camera warping is effecting most if not all cinematics, for all factions. As I said in my other comment, this should be patched ASAP considering Delta Recruits is out, and this could ruin the experience for anyone new coming to Star Trek Online, or for those established players who have not played in the other factions yet.

I have been having this problem as well but in addition, the ability to skip cutscenes has been removed as well. I can no longer skip any cutscenes. So not only do we have to watch really goofy camera zooms that go in and out of the world view, you can't skip them either.

I have the same problem. When a cutscene starts, the camera will start zooming waaaaaay out, and I can't see anything that's going on, when the scene changes, the camera will briefly snap back to where it should be, but will then immediately start zooming out really fast....... very annoying. Also affecting my ship's warp-in sequence a bit.
  • Stil Unbstable when playing ....half the time my characters and/or Npcs are not display on screen....other half time the camera this runs in any direction when beaming in or warping in to a mission...its annoying.... Yes i reset the settings. ....yes i uninstalled and reimstalled..yes i check the conroller yes i logged completely out and back in...looking at underground of the city or where ever is cool but annoying.....

I to am one that enjoys the cutscenes but not when you almost get sick trying to watch them. because of the buggy camera I really wish EVERY cut scene was skippable, but unfortunetly a good number of them can not be skipped. maybe they can at least make EVERY cut scene skippable so they can figure out what is causing the camera to go all crazy.

The camera bug really effects my role playing experience. Some of my friends refuse to play the story missions because of the wonky camera.

    I'm experiencing this as well.

    Example One
    Example Two
    Example Three

Those are great examples of what is going on and this type of thing affects a large swath of the content, as I have experienced it while leveling up my new Delta Recruits.

DEVS; are you going to weigh in about this matter or NOT????

I've been having the same problem as of this morning.
Be nice if they could maybe just acknowledge the issue for us as something they're working on.

Quick edit, a couple of my friends recently decided to come back to the game and the camera issue really put them off.

The problem I have is when I enter a cutscene my
The camera slings shots outside of the map instead of focusing on the characters

    no it has not.
on twitter they asked if people could tell them which cutscene(s) have the issue, but I think it would be easier to tell them which ones do not have the issue the answer to that is zero since from my experience with the issue all of the cutscenes have the issue. unfortunetly the ones that seem to be the worse are the ones that can not be skipped. I really wish they would make all the cutscenes skip able.

Making the cutscenes skippable does not solve the problem. It only puts some masking tape over it instead of welding it shut. I'd rather them straight fix the issue than just half-assing the solution.

I agree I want them to fix the problem, but I would also like them to make all cutscenes skippable at the same time

Clearly the Devs have a lot on their plate with a new expansion being incorporated into STO on pc now and consoles shortly, so fixing such a glaring glitch might have to be prioritized. Still, I'm not seeing anything coming from them about this matter and that is a problem? This week's update did nothing to eliminate the wonky camera action and it is becoming a factor that could see me moving along to others games. I enjoy this Star Trek Online quite a bit and play it daily, but enough is enough; at least in the absence of a promise to get this mess under control?

I've notice the cammera is wonky on the end game content missions as well.
  • June 22 and camera bug has still not been fixed. Isnt that what updates and patches are for ???

Yes, the Camera is flying around everywhere during virtually ANY cutscene, on beam in, beam out, warp in....basically, anything where the computer is controlling the camera and supposed to have it's focus on something.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
