Dominion Social Hub

While going through the Ten Forward Weekly streams I heard that there will be no Dominion home system or social hub of any kind (at least at launch). I know this is because the team was working on the new DS9 interior (which looks awesome btw) but at some point I would like to see one, whether its a base on a planet or even a starbase. Jem'Hadar players should be able to go into Dominion space for more than just shooting Hur'q.

A Jem'Hadar social hub sounds like a contradiction in terms...

"Social" as in communicate with other firsts and share vital intel/reports/etc. Honestly, how much social interaction actually goes on in the other hubs? (I haven't had zone/local chat enabled in years.)

There's also other vital functions that happen at starbases/etc. that the Jem'Hadar would need to perform. Restock on white, repair the ship, take on new soldiers, etc.

I asked about this myself, and as I understand it, DS9 is intended to fill this role for Jem'Hadar captains.

I hope they add a bridge officer trainer/etc. then in the updated version, because otherwise it would be pointless.

I really do hope they make a hub for Jems that isn't ds9 I do think they need to add something for them in the Gamma Quaderant. Maybe a small starbase or something like the Romulan Flotilla. Hopefully over time they will add onto it and give them that. The Dominion should have its toys too. Ds9 is an Alliance Toy. Jems now have access to but it shouldn't be the main base for Jems. Maybe they could use the Tzenkethi Starbase for them too.

It's not like Delta has a social zone either, it only has a battlezone.

Well there was no playable Delta Quaderant faction. The Dominion is going to be a playable Gamma Quadrant Faction.

This. Joint Command was the social hub of the Delta Quadrant.

You would think they would make Dominion Interment Camp 371 into a social zone. Or the Dosi Planet. Or any number of other Gamma Quadrant locations seen on DS9. Hell, event Vandros IV with its deactivated Iconian gateway should be something of a hot spot for Dominion/Iconian activities and the reputation marks that go with it.

They should make Odo's Flagship the hub

I think it should be DS9. They put a lot of time and effort into the revamp, they should try and encourage players to gather there.

From the story so far, it sounds like the Dominion are here to help, but I highly doubt they are open to the idea of a united gathering spot in the Gamma Quadrant. Seems more likely that DS9 would be the hub for the coalition.
    Insert witty signature line here.

That would be more cramped than the Romulan Republic's Flotilla. The typical format of a social zone is a wide open space with pleasant scenery. The tight corridors of a ship would not make a good social zone, however a station or planet does. For example, Deep Space Nine, Earth Space Dock, Defera (the city), the Fleet Starbase, the Captain's Table, New Romulus, Delta Quadrant Command, and Dranuur Colony.

From what we've seen of Odo's Flagship, it's small, functional and built for scouting. Changing that into a social zone would mean a very small instance cap (the Flotilla has a cap of 10, but the ship's size is rather large to begin with) or a rather confusing change in the ship's size to fit in such an environment. The ship would become more of a carrier size but would be without the carrier's capabilities for story reasons which would mean a rework of the ship itself to fit Star Trek Online's story line.

This is essentially what is agreed upon by the Alliance and Dominion, with lines that state as such in the story. A large Alliance or Dominion fleet deep in the other's territory would be considered a threatening maneuver.

Both spheres have that. The Solanae sphere has the social hub for the dyson zone and the Jenolan sphere has the social hub for the delta quadrant.

The spheres are pretty much their own locations which are connected to a quadrant each and have social zones within them. There's no social zone specifically inside of Delta unlike Beta which has a whole lot. But Delta does have a battlezone and so does Solonae.

The Dominion doesn't need an in-game social hub because they are not a real faction. They aren't even a real half faction. They're just a new playable race for FED or KDF.

I guess if we ever see a social hub in the gamma quadrant it will be open to everybody, not just Jem'hadar. A place in the area where we can access bank/exchange/shipyard would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just a room on Odo's flagship.

During one of the Ten Forward Weekly live streams, the idea of a social zone on the Founder's home world was joked about, but it is unlikely to be implemented until/unless the Dominion were to join the Alliance in some fashion. Keep in mind that the battle with the Hur'q is not yet resolved, so it may be some time, if ever.

Make it like the Rommie flotilla but a Dominion fleet, problem solved

Quite honestly, what need is there for a social hub for genetically engineered soldiers who are not programmed for that specific aspect? they don't drink, eat or sleep, they have no need to sit down or watch things on a screen. They are told to do something and they do it. Vorta are programmed for that point but they aren't in the faction and the founders have no interest in matters concerning solids and their activities.

It's less for the social aspects of it tbh, it's that they have no base of operation in their own territory. Earth Space Dock and New Romulus Command are social zones but they're also command centers for their respective factions.

The Jem'Hadar somehow feel incomplete without a home base of their own.

a small starbase interior and a starbase or a forward flagship and an interior there, similar to the Republic's floatilla.

See, now they could just use this map for it, the Dominion military are clones/lab grown troops, would make sense that their facilities would all look the same.
