Graphics look terrible

ltcommanderdata3ltcommanderdata3 Member Posts: 3 Arc User
Anyone else having problems with how things look particularly on ground on PC. I have my settings maxed and the game looks terrible. Is this part of the Nvidia bug or something new?

I know this doesn't exactly help but.. On my computer I am not having any problems with the graphics, I play on the highest settings too. My Nvidia Card is a Dell OEM GTX 1070.

    What card do you have?

I remember seeing some other posts about very bad graphics and textures during the last patch, so it's probably not just you.

Have you tried to verify all files? Downloading new drivers? Going back to older drivers?

This is already known, and acknowledged, and not really an issue caused by the game. This is a Driver/OS Update issue.

Mine is a GTX 1060, I went and updated, and it still has not changed. It's very frustrating, it looks terrible.

I've tried Windows 1709 & 1803, as well as rolling back the Nvidia graphics update as well as trying the new update. The graphics have been messed up since the last patch so I'm not so sure this is a Driver/OS issue.

Do you have dual graphics cards or just the GTX 1070? I'm starting to think the problem is occuring with people who have dual cards.

    I have a single GTX 1070.

Though before on my gaming rig, like.. A year ago? I had dual 1070's.. In SLI, this cause some problems in Star Trek Online. Most noticeable in micro-stuttering and severe FPS drop in windows.. Like a dialoge box, ship status, inventory.. You'd get 10 FPS.

But nothing about bad graphics, it could be related with SLI (Dual graphics)..

It could be a problem with how textures are displayed and shared between the graphics cards. But the patch notes mention crashing.. Not texture problems, but we'll see. Cryptic has a habbit of not writting down all changes in patch notes.

After todays patch I'm not seeing any fix for the blurry LCARs and various environments. They mentioned in a video they knew what was causing the issue but didnt elaborate....

I am having the same problem on one of my two computers. My gaming rig has a 1080 Ti and the texture resolution is fine there. There is only one GPU in that machine.

My gaming laptop has a 1060 and I'm getting the texture resolution bug where all uniforms, LCARS and a lot of ground textures look horribly bad and low-res, despite the fact that all my graphic settings are maxed out. Texture settings are set to 200%, I set renderscale to 2, I even deleted the whole game and reinstalled it. No dice. That laptop indeed has integrated graphics and the NVIDIA GPU, which seems consistent with others have the issue.

I hope they fix this ASAP. Despite being a bit dated, I still enjoy the STO visuals a lot, but the crappy textures are completely ruining my enjoyment of the game. See screenshots below, and remember, this is with ALL settings maxed out:

Cryptic is aware of the issue and have a fix for it, but that fix didn't make last Thursday patch so expect it to see this coming Thursday

Change the settings on the textures to 125%, and make sure the options on all graphics are on max (reset settings if neccesary), then just restart the game, that solved it for me...

I already did... 200% on textures, everything maxed out, even set renderscale to 2, nothing works. Others are saying it's a known bug on some systems.

Yep, I reset Display, Graphics and Advanced and restarted. Same crappy textures despite having everything maxed out.

The only thing i did besides that, is to erase the cache files on the live directory…. then reset all to defaults, and then increase textures to 125.... perhaps that helps?... as i said, i dont have that problem anymore..
