No Sound on my Wireless Headset

zaynarzaynar Member Posts: 138 Arc User
For some reason that I can't figure out, I get no sound in STO on my wireless headset. I recently got it and while it works with every other game, video, or any other source of sound, when I log into STO I get nothing. I cranked all the in game sound up to 100%, as well as the headphones sound, and the computers sound. Nothing. Though I know there is sound as the Master Volume Mixer shows the sound.

    Go into Options, Audio and check what audio output is selected and change if needed. It might just be that the game hasn't auto-selected it for you.

    I have, which I should have mentioned, several times. I've even tired waiting to turn the headset on once I am in game, then it just tells me that there is no sound driver. Also, I plugged my old headset in and had sound. STO just seems to refuse to actually send audio to the wireless headset.

    Your master sound mixer on your computer says sound IS getting to the card from the STO game??? So, that would not be a setting on the STO program.

    But no output to your head set??? Where is it outputting the sound TO for the STO program? I think that is what you need to look at.

    I have the same issue with my bluetooth headset. To fix it I just go into settings when my headphones are connected to the PC and hit reset to defaults on the audio page. That normally clears it for me at least.

    This is exactly what I see:

    Everything seems to be telling me I should have sound, I just don't.

    Here's something interesting I just discovered;

    Whatever is happening is apparently stopping ALL sound on my computer when STO is running. I started some music in iTunes and then launched STO, as soon as I got to the character menu iTunes just stopped. As soon as I closed STO iTunes started back up again.

    Sounds like you have an option ticked in your properties settings. Go to Control panel > Sound > properties for your Sound device such as speakers > Advanced and untick the options to grant exclusive use to applications.

    That may solve that issue.

    Well, iTunes will play, though I still can't hear it while in the game and the game still has no sound.
