So... paywalls for quite a few things instigated by the greedy EA Overlords who are more interested in cashy money and pretty much ignore feedback? Oh... and lets not forget how they shelved two franchises when they got criticizm for how C&C4 and Mass Effect: Andromeda was done.

Yeeeeaaaa... lets keep STO, and Star Trek in general, AWAY from EA. At least the companies that HAVE held the license to make Star Trek games actually care about the products and not how much it will put in their wallets alone...

Totally agreed, you'd think losing 3.1 billion in the space of a week over the Battlefront 2 lootbox scandal would have taught them a lesson (don't anger your players) because players boycotted the game at launch and copies remained unsold for weeks afterwards. The sooner lootboxes are removed from AAA titles, the better because in the old days, you bought the full product for the price of a game and things were unlocked by actually playing and not putting content behind paywalls.

EA is the worst of the worst with their lootbox based progression

While the EA stock has fallen to a low of $100.83 on Dec 4, 2017 after the fiasco with BF2 (the 52 week low was $85.23 in early 2017), the stock has more than recovered reaching a 52 week high of $128.18 on Feb. 1, 2018. The stock has come down a bit though currently trading at $125.99. That is a pretty strong recovery given the approximate 2 month time span.

EA is in a lot of flak, the fact governments are starting to think about how lootboxes are essentially gambling is essentially because of the BF2 scandal. Best Star Wars games are Empire at war and the original 2005 Battlefront 2, both are great games.

I'm recalling the last time I tried to use the so-called "F2P" option on SWTOR. I couldn't run because I was below level 15 and didn't want to lay out cash. I couldn't participate in their "innovative" space-combat-while-flying-between-waypoint-planets system because I was playing for free. I couldn't even use the bloody mailbox because I hadn't bought Cartel Coins. So very much of the gameplay was locked away behind paywalls.

Yeah, I really don't think making this game more like that game would be a good idea at all...

Never played SW: Empire At War. I tried Battlefront 2 and I didn't like it. That's the one where if you died you more or less took control of another character, correct? That was a bit bizarre and jarring.

My favorite Star Wars games are X-Wing, Tie Fighter, KotOR I and to a lesser extent KotOR II because it was rushed out of the door with a lot of content that had been cut. KotOR II's story basically only had two acts instead of three. Good thing the community was able to restore some of the cut content with mods using the cut content assets that were included in the DVD.

On Empire at war, jumping at least four Imperial Star Destroyers right on top of the enemy space station never gets old. It's space and ground RTS/

STO tries to force its players to go F2P and SWTOR tries to force its players to subscribe. Although, their lockboxes seem to have more value than our lockboxes and their reputation is account bound compared to STO's character grind.
