I'd like to see them expand the cosmetic side more for ships. There was a glimmer of hope with the cosmetic shield but they then ruined that by making it a chance drop from a chance drop out the gambleboxes.

A cosmetic shield or fancy warp trail would likely take less effort than an actual shield with stats and set abilities they might have to balance. BUT with the alure of space barbie they would no doubt be a popular item. Likewise with adding a 4th cosmetic slot for unifying a ship weapon colour. They could even sell an item that creates random rainbow beams for the FAW discoboats.

Back when the store arrived they had cosmetic kits for existing ships, I remember having a big plate of armour on the underside of my hull, again something that could be brought back. Either as an entire look for a ship or even easier a bundle of specific parts like saucers or nacelles on a per character basis for 200-300 zen.

This could not only reuse existing art assets but also help push their pro federation agenda as most options simply wouldnt work for either KDF or romulans.

They really need to take the blinkers off and try some new ideas.

Here's an idea: make vanity shields craftable items.

Not quite the same thing. SWTOR has no real space theme to it. But if you want to use that as an example fine: The way things are is like being able to play a Jedi but not being able to use Lightsabers.
I would say it's more like not being able to wear Mandalorian Armor / Boba Fetts costume.

After all, the canon ships not available at Tier 6 are side ships like the Nova or Vor'cha, not hero ships.

Side-ships perhaps, but still canon and in some cases still some player's favourites.

And I make no apologies for being bitter about this; it's been almost four years. There have been 'teases' along the way too (Harry Kim being in-game, the Rhode Island Admiralty card) and to wait this long only to discover that The Powers That Be have decided that they'll ignore the remaining canon ships that never received attention and don't care about those players who never got remodels/T6 versions of their favourite canon ships? Yeah, sorry - it's actually a bit Insulting!
You're making the mistake of taking it to personal. They don't intent to insult anyone with their ship choices.

This pack now includes the Andorian Escorts. Which also give you access to a Tier 6 version of an Andorian canon ship. That means they probably made a lot of Andorian fans happy. It also includes a Lethean ship. The ship isn't canon, but the Lethean are part of the Klingon faction, and one of the few canon races among the playable ones that don't still have their own ship. So they are probably making a few KDF and Lethean fans happy, as well.
The Anniversary Event gave us a canon Bajoran ship - Bajoran are an important part of the Star Trek canon, after all, an entire show is build around their world and their belief system.

Why have they yet to bring something for Nova or Vor'Cha fans (which are the two ships I definitely want a Tier 6 version of)? My guess is that they have to consider many facts. First and foremost: What will sell, which is also based on what they sold before, both in terms of "we know X to be popular" as well as "We've done a lot of Y lately, we need to ease off a bit because people will stop buying since they're still busy with the last Y".

There was a long drought of Science Vessels in general for a while. And then we got a bunch of them, like the lockbox ones, the Nebula, the Temporal Science Vessels, the Lukari ship, the Vestas. And now it seems a bit like they are putting their sights on Escorts. Their might be more cruisers next, or more science vessels.

They hope to have this game running for a few more years, I figure. So blowing all their canon ship "load" might also not be a good idea, because people are always particularly hungry for those - if they delivered all of them, some might think they're "done" and have the perfect ship of their choice and they won't settle for a non-canon one again. So yeah, maybe you're strung along here, but that doesn't mean they want to insult you. They are very much aware how much people like their ships.

R&D grand prize ships >> Lobi ships >> Lockbox Ships >> C-store ships to an appreciable degree, but the tide lifting all of them is coming in very, very slowly. As long as that power creep within Tier 6 remains fairly low, there's not an overwhelming need to snap up every new ship that comes along.

Choice is good. "Gotta catch them all" is a self-inflicted injury.

My main flies a T6 TSAD. Nothing has come out since then that has even remotely threatened to change that. My other captains are not quite as comfortable with their ships, but they aren't suffering because a new 9-pack just came out. There's a small change I'd like to see to the Annorax (temporal seating please...). The Elachi dreadnought's issues are with separation pets wandering off, not a lack of grotesque killing power. Heck even the 'aging' Tholian dreadnought still wrecks face with perfect serviceability. I haven picked up a T6 Narcine yet, which speaks to what an enduring joy the T5 is to fly.

I don't really see myself having to hunt new ships until the Temporal T5s get their makeover.

It's like in real life, industry develop and release new content to keep the business going. If they don't invent or release new content, industry slowly dies.
It's up to the customer, buy or not.
Can only speak for myself but i like shopping lol - it's no secret. If they add new stuff, i might buy it.
And yes, i buy ZEN because i don't have the time to grind that much dilithium for a shiny new ship.....and i'm impatient as well lol
But it's again all up to the majority of the customers, a few customers might not agree to this business model but it works for most companies very well.

All of which is true. Except that they specifically announced they were pretty much done with other canon ships (like the Nova, in this case). They might still do it; but at this point I doubt it.

I guess I just resent the fact that almost all of the in-game canon ship have received quality attention but the Nova/Rhode Island was/remains unworthy of attention.

I don't think the Nova is unworthy of attention, but I think it is low on the totem pole of canon ships to receive T6 upgrades. It only appeared 2 or 3 times. Heck, we only just got a T6 Miranda last year, and that's one of the most iconic ships in the franchise that isn't named Enterprise.

Sadly , a lot of people buy ships only for the trait. And cryptic knows it. In my honest opinion, going for a ship only for a trait is completely stupid, but well, this is STO.

While I personally would shy away from buying a ship "just for the trait" and also want to have fun flying the ship itself, I wouldn't call it "completely stupid". After all we are talking a service bought either way - the service to fly the ship, the service to use the ship trait. It is not as if some actual item is uselessly filling up our home or rotting away. Of course in the end it will always be an individual decision.

To be fair, that's questionable reasoning really. I mean, the Prometheus (for example) received a quality upgrade and a T6 model, and that ship only appeared in one episode (well, two if you count the incredibly brief moment it was seen in 'Endgame').
But the Prometheus has an unsual shtick thanks to its Multi-Vector-Assault mode, which I think makes it a bit more memorable. (Bonus for Cryptic: Anyone that wants the MVAM needs to buy the Tier 5 version, too.)

Of course, in the end, nothing can really make the frustration of still not having one's favorite ship as endgame option go away or notably diminish.

But here, a bonus consolation attempt: The people asking for an endgame Constitution needed to wait longer for it than the people that were asking for an endgame Nova. After all, the endgame used to be Fleet Tier 5 ships, and there was a Fleet Tier 5 Nova.
People that were asking for an endgame Constellation could enjoy it for a few weeks - and then it was suddenly obsolete again, because Tier 6 was introduced.
