Is there anything special about Andorian phaser weapons, cosmetic issues non-withstanding? It hardly seems like they'd be worth paying dilithium for if they're effectively the same as the run-of-the-mill phasers I can crank out with R&D.

As far as I know... just color and sound. Its possible that they have been tweaked a bit with the release of the new Allied Pilot Escorts, but I guess we won't know for sure until they're released.

It was pretty horrible when Delta Rising came out and we had to deal with the Kazon, as at that time they were using TOS phasers, complete with the earrape sound effects. 1 or 2 beams going off is fine. MANY? My ears bleed even today.
