Do you use Malwarebytes? I do and was having problems today.
Malwarebytes fired off a update today that came with a crash worthy memory bug. If you have it installed, turn off real-time protection (and reboot a couple of times) then download their update. See their support website for full details.
I am on Linux and using Lutris gaming which uses the wine api to run windows games on Linux. To bad Cryptic still hasn't ported STO to Linux yet even after all theses years of gamers asking them to. I am not sure if Lutris uses Malwarebytes or not.

This deals with a potential bug/technical issue which we don't allow the report of in this particular section of the forums. Reason being if there is a bug it prevents the devs from seeing it as easily. The sooner they can see it the sooner a fix can be started. I will be moving this thread after I've posted this. Malwarebytes had a TRIBBLE up in their update earlier today but have since put out a fix. If you're a Malwarebytes user and haven't updated yet you need to do so. As for the game itself can you give us a bit more info? Does it give an error message? Does it just lock up and crash out etc? Also what kind of computer specs are you working with such as processor, ram, video card and like items?
Don't mind helping but to do so I needs info.
@randolf2 I've moved your thread to here. Please keep bugs in the bug reporting areas as it makes it easier to find for the devs posting them here.

No message just stops the STO client completly. Since I am on Linux then it might be wine but I don't think so as it worked fine yesterday and I haven't changed the version of wine that is used. I saw the STO patcher update a bit this morning so probably something there. I have 16 Gigs of ram and an I7 -2600 8 core and a GT730. which I keep updated to the latest Linux NVIDIA driver. There is an indicator in the tray that lets me know when an update is available for anything in the repositorys. The updates are very often, much sooner than Windows updates come out.

I just started playing this game. I installed it Monday Feb 5th and played it all night without one crash. Then after the Maintenance downtime it started crashing. Updated drivers and all I am reinstalling the game. We'll see.

1) Overheating (GPU, CPU, chipset, memory, controller on HDD/SDD)
2) Overclocking taxing components beyond specs margins (CPU, memory, PCI bus)
3) Failing PSU
4) Failing sectors on HDD (or memory blocks on SDD)
5) Faulty/stuck bits in memory (also memory on GFX card)
There can also be malware interfering with system processes causing all kinds of havoc.
