Vorgons are difficult to beat.

rancidmojo#7824 rancidmojo Member Posts: 105 Arc User
I am not the best player I admit it. But is the Vorgon mission a bit too hard? I can't beat it. I hate to say "overpowered" but it seems the Vorgons are. If there is a way to beat them and I'm missing it, I'd appreciate the information.

I find abilities that cause damage through shields, shield drains and confusion to be helpful.

Don't Vorgons like to use Command abilities on players?

What level are you doing the mission at? What ship, equipment and BOFF skills are you flying with? Are you sure you haven't set the difficulty to advanced or elite?

I managed to beat them with my Klingon tac officer, and using the same strategy I did it with my SF engineer. I think my issue was trying to use damage!damage!damage! to beat the vorgon flagship. I couldn't do enough damage to them while their harrassier drones were killing me. So I tried hit and run attacks. I would close, hit them with everything I could muster, then back off out of range to repair quickly until I wore them down. It took a LONG time, and died a few times, but I guess I could say I improved my tactics.

I don't mind a hard fight, but to be honest even though I won it took such a long time I got bored. Still I look forward to the next part of this arc.

    @rattler2
Not command abilities, but the summer event powers. Seismic Agitation Field and Molten Terrain if i am not mistaken.

Both can be tricky when you have to get close to them for the scripted events to start. In confined spaces they can be a royal pain especially since they go right through the shields.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

That is true... I struggled on my first run of that mission. Especially with the confined space.

I brought up the Command abilities because they aren't as common from NPCs so its harder for players to anticipate them and know how to counter them. Heralds use Intel, Sphere Builders use Temporal... I was sure Vorgons were Command... *shrug*

Good point. I am unaware of any NPC using command abilities.
Haven't paid attention, but perhaps the Terran empire or Mirror Leeta?

I haven't noticed any Command from Terrans, as they use the same AI as Federation NPCs. But the sheer number of ships they have means they pack more of a punch than the average NPC group. I mean Command Battlecruiser Torp Spreads are nasty. And the fact they have access to other C-Store ships like the Multi-Vector Advanced Escort, Galaxy Retrofit, Vestas, and the Armitage, complete with their console abilities...

    Yea... Terrans are downright nasty.

Vorgons are one the few fights that are rather unbalanced, that can make them hard (or at least harder) to beat them normal mobs, it doesn't help that IIRC there's only captain level vorgon ground mobs and the ships tend to have full access to their consoles, while most NPC groups have "basic" ships with no special consoles.

Well... to be fair the only Vorgons we fight on the ground that I recall are Named NPCs. So they are supposed to be tougher than the average Mob.

I took them out rather quickly and very easily with a recent max level Reman Science character. No reputation and no spec points allocated. The encounter lasted less than 10 seconds (much quicker than even my veteran characters were able to accomplish in the past). My standard attack sequence is as follows:

1 - Tricorder Scan (with Tricorder Analysis trait)
2 - Cold Flash Fusion Mk XII
3 - Endothermic Induction Field Mk XII
4 - Sompek Lightning Mk XII

I don't recall if I fired my ultra rare Plasma Wide Beam Rifle Mk XIV.

That's more a testament on the effectiveness of science on the ground than proof of how weak those Vorgons are..

Difficult? oh my, and i thought they were the most easy enemies introduced so far.... lol. You obviously are doing something terribly wrong there.

Easiest enemies introduced so far? lol theres so many easier enemies than Vorgons. Not that Vorgons are terribly hard, but you had to say Vorgons are the easiest? absolutely not true.

Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.

I didn't say the Vorgons were weak. I was merely surprised at how quickly they fell in comparison to my other veteran characters (including other veteran science characters with the same kit modules as my "noobie" Reman science character) who are better equipped.

Well... I do not actually wait for after each step to check for a pulse. I just press the keys to activate those abilities in rapid succession since the Cold Flash Fusion and Endothermic Induction Field kits are only Mk XII.
