Romulans, what do you fly the most?

nixie50nixie50 Member Posts: 1,347 Arc User
I enjoy the t'varo torpedo boat a lot, and I tried a scimitar, but i don't like the way it handles.. outside of those two, what would you fly?
it will probably be a beam boat with a torpedo. I relly like the hyper torpedo

My Romulan flies the Fleet T6 D’Deridex. I’m still trying to set it up to be as cannon as possible, yet still be an effective team member. The character is really just for that ship. It’s challenging because of how slow it turns because I’ve put DPS ahead in priority. I’ve resorted to beam, single cannon x2, and torp up front with beam, Omni x2, and torp for the rear. All Disruptor with Nausiccan torp up front and disruptive photon in the rear.

I’m kind of wishing my character were an engineer instead of tactical. Don’t want to do the character development process all over again.

Mostly the T6 D'Deridex. My favorite star trek ship. I've got a standard beam build as well as an unorthodox all turret build.

I'm in love with intel, so if I'm using an actual Romulan ship, it's ALWAYS my Fleet Faeht. Disruptor DBBs up front / KCB, Omni, Heavy Turret aft.

Other than that, my Manasa or Son'a Intel Battlecruiser, but those are multifaction, so I guess they don't really count. All other ships collect dust.

    Harpia Dyson ship.

The Laeosa Research Warbird. Great looking ship, flexible boff seating, and a heck of a lot of fun with the space wizardry of science powers.

I have a tendency towards T6 Scimitar variants.

I have not really found a ship I like for Romulans. The T6 Scimitars should be awesome (and I guess they are), but they just seem so meh to play.

Si I fly that on one (Sci-Rom) and fly a Science pilot escort on my engineering Rom

One happily enjoys melting everything in a shamshir, one sneaks around in a faeht and throws torps and GWs around, one jumps bewteen a morrigu and a dinaes and my last rom sits in an intel sheshar mostly because of it's hilarious mini fleet tagging along. 2 hangar pets (frigates), 2 support crafts (monbosh console), 1 assault craft (separation console). I'd love to get a second sheshar for a sci guy and top that off with photonic fleet. :D

T5U Tal Shiar Destroyer (That's herself in it's ready room in the image), Kara (T6 Ha'apaax) and Aelahl light Warbird get the most play. Planning on pulling the D'Deridex and Dyson out of retirement (used to be my go-to ships before those T6s came out) on a couple of new Alts I'm working on, Faeht I've never really got the hang of.

Builds are generally STO canon with Romulan Plasma and some type of plasma torpedo (Hyper or PEP on the more agile ships), Tal Shiar gets Nanite Disruptors and Borg sets although I'm testing out the Kentari missile on it ATM. The Aelahl's practically the Batmobile :)

Think I spent the most time flying and working on builds on the Scimitars (T5+T6), and T5-U Dyson Harpia (protonic polaron, epg, tac, hybrid, etc.).

Also did some fun builds with Faeht (stealth torp bomber) and engineering pilot warbird (speed/handling).

Got a few other Romulan ships like the R'Mor, two Tal'Shiar ships that I have yet to fly, am currently enjoying the T'Laru, and have plans for making more use of the Jhu'ael, T6 T'Varo, Aelahl, Laeosa, Romulan 'Vestas', Morrigu, and Vastam.

Am hoping T6 versions of the Dysons get released, and a T6 R'Mor that hopefully will have singularity core and different stats than the Wells.

A set of full intel & temporal science warbirds would be interesting too, since the Eternal is too much federation, and the T'Laru is still a carrier and not a science ship.

T6 tac scimitar with AP beams and AP torpedo. I make things go boom.

Tact Pilot Escort is one of my favorites. Or the Faeht. I prefer ships with Singularity (for the Overcharge + Advanced Overcharge from the Terran Singularity Core). But ever since Bort had power nerfed, come S13, I sometimes take lockbox ships with Warp Cores too, as I can use the otherwise needed slot for the Leech for something else.

The scimitar never grabbed me as fun to fly.

For some reason a lot of the T6's didn't seem as good as their T5 equals, they just seem squishier.

That said the escort carrier was enjoyable as was the kara once the seperation pets were mostly fixed (they still randomly rejoin the player ship for no obvious reason) and the T'laru is my current ship of choice. (rommie drones are maybe the best frigate pet in game, just don't let cryptic know because apparently only feds and escorts matter in the game at the moment)

My one gripe with the t'laru is not that she's a whale to move since the 4/2 weapon offsets the lack of turning but that the console set bonuses are so biased for fed minded ships with boosts to phasers and photons instead of just torps and beams/energy.

My Tactical flies a Fleet Morrigu which I personally believe to be one of the absolute best ships in STO.

My Romulan Engineer flies a Vastam Command Cruiser, mostly just because I like the look of the ship. She alternates between that and the Scimitar but mostly sticks with the Vastam just because I don't see many of them.
    Insert witty signature line here.

T6 scimi with cannons. Took some work to get enough maneuverability, but it works great...aside from the ships innate desire to Tokyo drift.

I don't have too many other good t6 ships outside of that and the Hathos, but I just can't get the same overall performance from the Hathos.

I have a sci-Rom in the Krenim sci ship and a engi-Rom in a Iconian flight deck cruiser. Sometimes the engi will break out his T5 mirror Ha'feh.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

I have 2 Reman and a Romulan Captain. The Romulan Tactical uses the T6 Malem (T'varo), while my Reman Engineer uses the Hathos, and my Reman Sci uses the T6 Dinaes Warbird Destroyer (Vet Ship).

My backup ships being the Morrigu, Kara, Faeht, t5u Harpia (Tactical Dyson Ship), and from buying the 3pk I have the Deleth, but have not had an opportunity to use her yet.

I may eventually get one of the Romulan MMSV, but no real place in my lineup.

Thanks for the Advanced Light Cruiser, Allied Escort Bundles, Jem-Hadar Light Battlecruiser, and Mek'leth

    You're thinking of Malem.

Currently.. I think everyone has a diff ship. T6 Not-a-D'Kyr on Diaula, Kara on Emani, Silik on Soheth, and the T6 Reman escort on Zdakek.

they fly what ever ship they are working on for ship mastery... otherwise it's a T6 tac scim w/drone ship or a T6 with a warp core w/frigate pets.

My KDF Sci-Rom flies either a Taenan Strategic Explorer Warbird with a antiproton build or a Fleet Aelhal. Eventually I will start working on more perks, but I really like the Taenan, i think i'm getting somewhere with that build.

Fleet T'varo, Malem class. Front almost fully loaded plasma torps and back with two mines. Anybody gets too close and they're in trouble.

Destabilized plasma torpedo plus all the other plasma torps with gravity well is too much fun.
