A player got down right rude with me when I mentioned that the TF is doomed to fail if we keep splitting up. 2 Players where at one spot. Me and 2 other player where at another. The two players with me kept leaving me by myself and going someplace else. In a perfect world we could be all on our own. But due to this games poor mechanics, you can't. Because if you try to free a Cooperative ship. All you have to do is sneeze and the countdown stops. Now add non cooperative borg ships to the mix...and you get me point. So needless to say, we failed miserably. Either players need to realize this or the countdown part of freeing the Cooperative ships need to keep counting down while your ship gets hit.

One thing that might help is any trait or skill that gives temp hitpoints, like the pilot skill that give temp hitpoints to attack patterns. The countdown only stops if your REAL hull is hit, so a pool of temp points should be enough to complete the countdown.
There are some ways around the issue of getting interrupted. Temp HP I believe can allow you to continue under fire until the Temp HP is exhausted. Having someone who can draw aggro from everything while you rescue is another.
Borg Disconnected is one that does require more teamwork. Generally have your best DPSer alone on one of the three zones, and split remaining players between the other two. Generally you'd want the more powerful players attacking while the others support and rescue.
In a way this queue certainly calls for Tanks that can draw aggro and hold it, or for sheer damage output, enabling you to rescue.
And it gets worse as you proceed.

You're supposed to split up, that's why there are three different areas to defend and rescue. If you're a fresh level 60 with sub-optimal gear, or just plain bad at the game? By all means hang out with someone else on a point and do what you can to help. My sub-optimal characters on my account do the same thing!
But if you need all 5 of your team on a single point? No. Just... no.
I mean, I'm no math genius but if there are 5 players on the team and three spots to defend, it's not very logical to have more than half of those 5 players move to the same spot. And besides, if there's more than two players at the same spot then things can boring real quick.
So, OP, it is quite understandable that they kept moving away.
But I do agree that it is a bit silly to have our actions interrupted with even the slightest hit to our hull - or even our shields. Though what would be the suggestion on how to change this? In Gateway to Grethor you can keep closing portals even if your ship is falling apart but for me the option to avoid all fights and not having to care about enemies at all is very boring.
*cough* 'Hidden Payload'
"Hidden Payload" is the 2-piece bonus of the Obfuscated Strategist Set
Set 2: Hidden Payload
Stealth bonus based on current Throttle percentage:
(Stealth bonus disabled in combat)
100% - 76% Throttle: +4,550 Stealth
75% - 51% Throttle: +4,600 Stealth
50% - 26% Throttle: +4,650 Stealth
25% - 1% Throttle: +4,700 Stealth
0% Throttle: After 3 seconds, +4,850 Stealth and considered Cloaked
+15 Starship Control Expertise
(Improves Control Effects / Resistance to Same)
So, when freeing ships (or closing portals and such), and hanging still, you're effectively cloaked, and thus undisturbed. Ideal for Mirror Invasion and (as I realized) also for Borg Disconnected. And you really *are* cloaked (you even get the cloaking/decloaking sound).
If other players are actively avoid you when you try to join up with them to form a 2 or 3 person team because they either want to solo an area by himself / herself, or prefer to only have a 2 person team, then you have two options.
1. Just do as best as you can to solo an area by yourself.
2. Just "hang out" until the boss fight.
Basically, it is not your fault if other players are actively avoiding you.
It's part of the Competitive Wargames reputation. If you have no interest in the team vs. team missions, then you can ignore the set.
2. You're supposed to cover all 3 spots and unless you have two good players who can reliably solo a spot by themselves there should never be 3 players at the same spot.
3. When a PUG fails, it's always your fault. For pugging it if nothing else.
And why is that, silly misconceptions about the comprep notwithstanding?
A free cloak when stopped sounds pretty useful for something like BD. I'll have to grab that set and test it.
If you do this you can often deal with one side by yourself.
Whats really quite amusing is that often those are when the ickle babby escorts are zipping about so you kind of expect a certain level of pewpewing to happen yet on the final trio of bosses they seem to be doing barely anything compared to me in a command cruiser.
Maybe its just reading comprehension as the objectives are certainly big enough for all but braille readers to see in the case of the console version.
Pretty sure you are correct as I have seen it happen numerous times.
