Stupid new idea: Barfight PvP for 'recreational' events.

patrickngopatrickngo Member Posts: 9,965 Arc User
Yeah, it's one of my stupid ideas, and it is stupid, because the whole thing is utterly unwholesome at it's core and not at all...

oh who'm I kidding? everyone knows my ideas are rot, let's get this over with.

Format: Bar location on the map, click the button (something innocuous like 'having a drink with some mates')

Barfight begins via NPC swinging a punch.

all weapons and shields in the activity are disabled (not too hard, Risa already disables weapons)

for the next 5 minutes, it's everyone at the bar against everyone. At the end of 5 minutes, 'risan shore patrol' shows up and breaks it up, conscious characters are 'arrested and fined', characters that have been knocked out can get up.

Awards: Accolades, tokens and title "Troublemaker"-survive 3 Bar Fight scenarios
Title: Brawler (survive 6 bar fights)
Title: Bouncer (Defeat all comers/10 Federation/10 Klingons 3 times.)

and we can add a 'bar room dance' contest too-the dance floor is the bar, after the fight (or before).

and maybe a PvP 'drinking contest' where the drinks mirror the health damage from a player using Ketracel White. (Poison damage) last one to drop (or the only one to survive) in the instance gets the accolade "Iron Liver".

    That's a sport in Ireland, isn't?

it's a sport in any country with bars and men...the irish just do it better

also, i definitely want to see this in one form or another - it's pretty much the only way that one trait (brawler) from the KT box will EVER be used by intelligent players/players that know better

This is a truly great idea!
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

Hellz yeah! (but only if I can get Sweeping Strikes back on my Fed Eng main. When I started playing last summer, bam, roundhouse kicks worthy of Sam Beckett! Then one day, and every day since, nothing! >_< )

Good, that means I could still kick them in a temporal anomaly, bomb them with drones, poison them with a neurotoxin, set or melt the ground on fire below their feet, throw grenades everywhere and indiscriminately or go all Thor/Shazam on them!

Of all the posts and polls I've read, this is the best PvP suggestion I ever saw.

I absolutely dislike most PvP players. In 7 years, I've only met about 5 PvP players that are decent people online that weren't in the game to belittle and harass other players. I avoid PvP ques and zones due to the hostile and verbally abusive community it promotes. I play this game for my entertainment, not to be the entertainment for someone else.

However, I would definitely participate in a bar battlezone as you suggest - if it were melee only with typical bar weapons; such as glass bottles, chairs, and the like, to be picked up and used. The way PvP players constantly harass others online would appear like normal gameplay in a bar battlezone. PvP players are experts in abusive dialogue.

As much as I enjoy and play this game to immerse myself in the Star Trek vision of a better society, bar fights have been in every series of Star Trek. It would probably be the only PvP que in which I would participate.

    Interesting idea indeed.

Need some Accolades to go with this idea. Which ain't as bad as you think, OP. Suggestions below.

Just Like Chick Norris - Successful Crit Hit on five Sweeping Strikes in a row during a fight.
Let Me Rock You Jackie Chan - Suffer five Crit Hits during a fight without going unconscious.
Fists of Fury - Defeat an entire bar full of enemies by yourself.
Ballroom Blitz - Five or more Fleet members involved in the same brawl simultaneously.

Anyone got any more, please feel free to add 'em in.

An excellent idea! Fellow warriors, let us toast to victory and repair to the nearest cross-faction social zone!

As an homage to TOS and their rampant fisticuffs, I've always wanted to see a weaponless PvP fight area, no kits, no guns, no bat'leths, just punchin' and kickin' ;)
  • spiritbornspiritborn Member Posts: 4,424 Arc User
As long as there's ample warning so you won't accidently (or be forced by someone who is looking for an easy KO) so enter the fight this would be a great idea, if in Risa have it be the "rough" part of Risa where the only real rule is "no weapons allowed" (explaining why your weapons and kits are disabled), That way those who don't want to be a part of it won't feel like they're forced to be but those who want to can get their PvP fight.

I'd make it so that once part of the fight you can't exit, you knew the risks when you entered. Cowards who flee from battle are sent to grethor (or however you spelled it again) ;) This could be done by for example having a seperate island you have to beam into and once the fighting starts the transporters are disabled or it's simply a walled of area and the gates are locked until the fight is broken up. This would serve 2 purposes first it would make it so that you won't accidently end up part of the fight (and thus complain about in the forums) and second it would prevent people from disengaging from the fight when things get rough for them only to re-engage when they feel they got easy prey, it's a barfight not a PvP mark farm.

We can have a dilapidated bar for the fight on the west side of the island. But making it populted anough for a fun fight might get hard. Perhaps put bank and exchange etc there as incentive to get more people there

Being able to mock fight with actual players instead of NPCs is all the incentive anyone needs. Bonus points if there's no map change required.
