Do i need to win the races to get enough event rep for the ship, or is it ok to participate in the races, without winning? (because against all the 7years players i'd have no chance anyways and would skip it)
Flying High is a single player race... you cant lose, as long as you complete all the courses.
I imagine that, like the Xyfius, it'll look good in black (imagery can be found here). While the specialist station being just lieutenant-level is a mild disappointment, it is no dealbreaker. The default squadrons being frigates is a bit of a surprise as well - based on its model, one would think the Echentis is a fighter akin to the Widow or Peregrine (in such a case, folks who have the Xyfius as well would be able to embark those instead).
On a related note, I wonder how difficult it would be to expand the Vorgon ships' customization options so folks can modify the 'windows' and 'wooden' portions (both clearly visible in the imagery referenced above).
Weapon Slots
This is not a "Cruiser w/ 2 Hangar Bays" but rather a "Carrier with an Eng-Cmdr seat." Carriers are typified as having 3/3 weapons layouts, with the expectation that their two full hangars of pets will help bridge any combat effectiveness gap. There is only one other ship that shares this subcategory: The Obelisk Carrier.
There are also Dreadnought Carriers, which are specifically Tac-Cmdr ships with 4/3 layouts and two Hangars, but this ship is not a Dreadnought Carrier, but just a standard Carrier.
Set Bonus
A 2-piece bonus will be added to the Console, which provides a synergy with the Xyfius' console from last year. It has not yet been finalized, but will be added in a future patch.
This should have been a Dreadnought carrier, though.
There has never been access to one, through either an event or the cstore, so it would have been nice to be able to have one to fly!
Obviously a dreadnought carrier would have been nice being tac heavy and with 7 weps (I believe the Ent-J and co. is pretty much the only exeption as far as being eng heavy, keeping cruiser 8 weps and 2 hangar bays).
But we kinda knew it was eng heavy for a while (in hindsight, not sure how we knew) so what I'm mostly disappointed in is the shield mod. For a fleet grade ship, 1.05 is really low.
Still a beautiful model though.

I would have preferred a dreadnought carrier as well, but I'm holding out hope that the 2-piece console bonus will be something REALLY good to make this one of the best carriers in the game ... something that can challenge the Jem'Hadar dreadnought carrier with the 3-piece Jem'Hadar console bonuses and the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship frigates.

I'm not thrilled about the way Cryptic does this routine neither nor do I have a Xyfius. It's not like if Cryptic included instead of excluded newer players it hurts the veteran players. Then again I think that Phoenix Prize Pack is only a couple of years old so I'm sure it's their method of allowing inclusion, but with Lock Box Promotional Pack odds & if you win one of the previous event ships which was account-wide it's for only 1 character now. So there's good & bad with it.

- One Phoenix Tech Upgrade Kit is equivalent to 4 Superior Upgrade Kits.
- When purchased in packs of 10, each Phoenix Tech Upgrade Kit costs 4,000 Dil. One Superior Upgrade Kit consumes 1,075 Dil. Therefore, Phoenix Tech Upgrade Kits provides a slight Dil discount for upgrades.
Well, at least one of my characters is gonna name the ship the S.S. Djinn.

Hell, get the Ithenite outfit (for the fez), some baggy clothing, and have a hot babe and a blue skinned alien as BOFFs, then get the Mugato pet and a Sehlat Cub pet, and we're golden!

Things I want in STO:
1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!
Looks like the vorgon carrier is the spiritual sucessor to the mirror Vo'quv (handed out to feds too, nach)...and considering I used to get that up to 200 impulse constant, it looks like my speed 'quv jockey is finally getting a new ship
Also those frigates...ignoring mines, they will be insanely good as they'll have multiple beams on a target regardless of orientation (I daresay they might be close to scim drones in dps terms)...that said, is there a fighter type ship we can use?
To top it off, that trait, creating a repair drone that will follow you...my only question - will it break a bops cloak by attracting mob aggro?

I like the stats too, but sadly, it doesnt mean much it can use grav well, since grav well was nerfed to the ground concerning pull, especially at lt.com rank. You have a better chance to stop things now using Tyken Rift + Chronometric Inversion Field, especially since pets skills Supression Barage sinergize well with this becouse are another - flight speed source.
Anyhow, it seems to be better then the Jupiter, the ship i want to replace, stats and pets wise aswell, since these frigates are using beams.
I am wondering.... the event goes on for 12 days, the ship needs 1000 vouchers and you can do the fly high event to gain vouchers. All this is the same as last year. But the event last year only brought 40 vouchers, meaning you would need 25 days. You can only get half of the vouchers by participating in flying high. So how do i get the rest of it? Only from the lobi store? (which means again, i can skip the event )

Am I the only one who thinks this ship looks like something out of Babylon 5? Perhaps a Narn Cruiser?
I was thinking recently that the Vorgon ships did seem kind of like a Narn/Vorlon hybrid. (then I looked at screencaps from the show and realized that there isn't that much Vorlon in them.... the skin pattern & being a bit more organic-curved than Narn ships is about it.)
I quite like how it looks, it's definitely going to be used on some of my alts. I also like the hull strength, should be quite a tough ship. The question is, for my main character, this or my Herald Vonph with its Elite pets.
Being an engineering carrier one would suppose he would have 4 weapons aft and 4 weapons fore. It is a pity because the hull and shield stats are good. Also the pets should have been drones given that the Xyfius is a frigate. The Console and the trait are good additions and I'm going to play with the ship for a time until mastery lv5 and then return to the Xyfius or pass into the Amarie if I get enough EC

And I will be Flying High for this. Twice. STO doesn't play nice with my son's computer sometimes and he wants it, so I offered to take his main through to get it for him.
I like the way it looks, like the stats. Don't see nothing about it to complain about since it's a 'freebie'. All I need to do is spend 25 days doing something fun to 'earn' it.

This ship looks like a good tetryon platform, with the xifius console and the sticky web console as addons to the regular tetryon boosting tac consoles
Question about the pets, the weaponry per rarity version stays exactly the same, only the abilities go up in rank. Does this mean that getting higher rarity pets does not increase the actual base damage of the pets weaponry? The dispersal pattern and suppression barrage are not really known for the good damage capabilities. So at first sight it seems that getting the higher graded pets is an utter waist of resources.
If I use the starship trait coordinated affords, which grants the pets a beam overload 1, is that the newly reworked version with the 10 seconds damage boost? That would help the pet damage output quite a bit. Or do they just get the, 1 shot boost, aka old version?
On a related note, do team damage boosts also include pets? Like the Iconian 3pc and 4pc set?

I don't own the Jupiter, but I agree based on boff layout and pets, this will be better than the Jupiter, and better than the Breen Sar Theln for the same reason. Beams just work better on pets IMO.

You could try out extend shields or Aux2SIF.
Or, something that got, iirc, a duration extension with s13. RSP3 with a doff to extend it gives a full 28s of protection from energy weapons.

KDF Carrier (forget the name) can use BoPs (birds of prey) for pets... are BoPs frigates? Frigates for pets I think are any player type ships that are not shuttles/fighters type. Dominion carrier can use the bug ship... are those frigates? No they are escort type player ships. The Vorgon carrier should be able to use Xyfius type pets... in fact I hope you can buy em if you have the Xyfius escort.
