Will Mirror Event get a remake?

jim625jim625 Member Posts: 907 Arc User
since they did a rework on the breech and made it more shorter and faster paced. Will the mirror event get the same treatment?

I don't mind doing it at all but when you decide to do it with more then one toon it does get tire some near the end of a long 14 day grind.

When I try to comprehend the attitude of a growing number of players towards these events I would turn the whole thing into 14 day admiralty assignment and be done with it.

That might be over the top, but cutting off the horrible time gate and obnoxiously long briefing at the start would be very nice.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    Current Mirror *IS* the remake

The old one was much more fun, but exploitable for ridiculous super fast levelling

    Not bad an idea.

Probably, because, most of STOs content nowadays is long and boring.

Hopefully yes and here are some easyish ways to do it:

Edit down existing mission, get rid of loooong briefing and reduce number of portals back to previous level
Use old version or knock out a similar red alert, maybe a Terran Korfez type thing.
Use edited version of the Counterstrike level, more combat, less ferrying stuff and portals
Use Terran bz and issue token after something or other, that way no queuing and no getting stuck with an afker that wrecks the run
Edit existing queue(s) to feature Terrans instead of normal bad guys
Have a competition and let foundry people design levels, the winner getting 100k zen or a bunch of R&D ships - something extravagant to players but 0 cost to cryptic.

Fortunately, they got rid of the irritating unskippable cut scene of the dreadnought appearing near the end of the queue. The only revamp needed is to make it possible to actually fail.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

Why would have it possible to fail?

Unfortunately, they also got rid of the voiceover explanation and the animation of the tachyon pulse. Meaning all the enemies just suddenly disappear for no apparent reason, which looks totally lame.

Why would have it possible to fail?

Why have it fail....so you can annoy the heck out of any AFK'ers by failing the mission on purpose seeing that they are exploiting the lack of AFK penalty.

As for the timegate people keep complaining about. The Mirror ship will be here in about 15 minutes. Try telling that to whoever in real-life is going to be at your location in 15 minutes (everyday) as they are driving/walking. The conversation would be hilarous....person A says to person B "Oh you need to get rid of your time-gate, it's holding me up from my free coffee". Person B replies "Sorry, I can't leave till X pm, so you will just have to wait and do something!". Some people neglect to see how entitled they are!

I know! Why don't we ask Cryptic to have the ship arrive at a random time of between 10 minutes to an hour! Needless to say, I only did MI on 1 toon because of all the AFK'ers this, and the amount of arranged AFK runs in the DPS channel was abhorent!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Your analogy is terrible. This is a game, not real life. But it is also funny, so I forgive you. Carry on. :D

The conversation where a bunch of people are waiting for the coffee shop to open and some self-absorbed dude is complaining and demanding a system be implemented to punish the other waiters-in-line for having better things to pass the time with than playing parlor games with him, would also be hilarious. :D

Except that we still have to wait the same length of time for the dreadnought to spawn that it took for the cut scene to play anyway, so it didn't really save us any time by removing it, just removed the explanation for the rifts and other ships disappearing.

And now new players are confused. I think the MI has to be removed because it doesn't fit the quality standard pig-2.gif

And bring back the old version, where you won by destroying the enemy instead of waiting for them to inexplicably disappear.

I think they did a remake because of me. My gravity well would destroy entire Battlegroups. Now they are too far apart for me to be as effective.

If shooting ships for 15 minutes a day is too much work, then well, it's more a sad commentary on STO's players than anything else.

I get that people want as much stuff possible for the least effort possible. But that's really not a good thing to actually implement, especially in this game where dilithium is tied (albeit loosely) to how much you play the game. Handing out 50,000 to every alt that gets logged in will end up glutting the system, something they already have a problem with.

Its 15 mins a day per character for two weeks, for me that would be 90 mins a day. If I logged on for dil I can get twice as much in 15 mins per toon than mirror pays.

Actually, according to a couple of DPS logs I read of a couple of groups I was in, the thing lasts about 13 minutes.

Still, I never have any problems flying around and shooting stuff, closing rifts and powering the station defenses. It's fun each time. Even the few times I blew up once or twice.

It's much more fun to do that than to sit in place for 13 minutes and twiddling my thumbs, or knitting. If I want to knit, I turn the game off.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

1 minute briefing, 11 minutes phase 1, however long the invisible cutscene delay is (I haven't timed it) and then killing the dready which of course depends on the team's DPS.

Then I tip my hat at you! :) (See my profile pic *g*). Cuz (in MIA) I die more often than I like, tbh. Feels a bit unfair to me, too, *pout* -- puts on flame-retardant suit -- the way the Terrans can kill you in under a second. Yes, I know, turnabout is fair play, but our FBP isn't nearly as strong (in fact, if it weren't for the Trait proc, it's pathetic vs. NPC's). I wish they'd gave us at least time enough to disengage, so there'd be some element of choice. Not a biggie, really, just annoying.

So, I die an average of 1 times per MIA. Only my Engi main can withstand the onslaught well, with access to double-tap MW, RSF, ET2, and HE1 on her boat. I really love my Rom Tact, but often -- all tongue-in-cheek -- I 'talk' to my Rom alt, on the inside, when I pop a MW, and ask "Do you have one of these?! Why, I do! :P" Yeah, the new and improved Engineer class really shines in MIA. Not saying she never dies, but hardly ever. And then usually because I'm too pig(pug?)-headed to retreat when I really should. But that's just me; even in the 1 premade AFK I was in, I *still* engaged, LOL: I just can't sit still (Now, where did I leave that fidget spinner?)

I'm hoping they redo it so that the total time gets down to 10 minutes. For something that does a single character bound item reward, it's just too long IMO unless the award is outstanding (it hits maybe 50/50 on that).

The event can be completely ignored by players.
They'll only change it if they don't like the metrics of their event.

they should have the mirror event in different locations, like drozana, ESD, starbase 24, and all other starbases.
Replace the powerstations with NPC Science ships, which need protection from us and deal in the meantime with the enemy and their rifts.Makes we wonder why the mirror ships never attack them?
If the scienceships are badly damaged, it will take longer, so if you want it end quick, you better participate.

I said exploitable....and it was.. IF you timed it right, you could team with someone low level just as the countdown started, it would pull them into your level 50 run, and in just a few rounds they could level right up to 50.......when it worked.

There's only one change that would be needed make me enjoy MI again: let us close rifts while being fired upon. It's this alone that makes Advanced such an awful experience for me.
