Which Fed Dreadnought Cruiser should I go for?

Which Fed Dreadnought Cruiser should I save for, and why?

A bit on my gameplay preferences to help inform your advice:

-The main who this will be used with is a 25th Century engineer. I do have an AoY tactical alt, but don't use it enough to justify that kind of expenditure. The price is irrelevant, it costs what it costs, but I'm not spending resources on a ship which would be seldom-used due to character favoritism.
-I like having a Lt Cmdr Science seat and Lt Cmdr Tactical seat. I rarely use engineering boff abilities beyond Lt seating, but will sometimes have two engineers seated to allow for the secondary shield trait, or Aux2Shields.
-I've loaded cruisers with all variants of RCS Accelerator, as well as other consoles which boost turn-rate. They might not fly as fast as an escort, but they also don't wallow like a fresh-out-of-spacedock porker, and I do like to fly, rather than slowly drifting in circles.
-Other ships I enjoy flying, are the Tholian mesh weaver, the Kazon raider (especially the Kazon raider) and the Ushaan escort.
-I like to use consoles which boost hull strength and hull regeneration, and favor those over shield improvements where appropriate.
-I'll use cannons if I can, but if not, I am happy with turrets or beams.

Visually speaking, I like the look Cryptic has gone with for the 25th Century ships, like the Ushaan and the Odyssey. I don't particularly like how the Vengeance looks, but I've seen a white-skinned one on a sig which I liked, and read in the other Dreadnought thread that the Vengeance has several skin options, so I'm sure I could do something with it which I would find acceptable, and if the capabilities are good, I would definitely weigh performance over appearance. I like how the Atlas Class looks, and would definitely be happy with that as a default skin, if it didn't have other customizing options.
So, which do you think is the best dreadnought, and why?

I used the intel dread on my Talaxian Engineer. Not only is it very survivable, but, with the proper gear, has allowed my *tanked* engineer to push out around 35k-45k DPS, which isn't too bad for a tank. However, due to my engineer being a tank/support character, I have moved on to carriers since, and so long as the hangar pets don't suck, I will be using the Vorgon Carrier for a while. If you're playing a tactical based engineer, I would definitely recommend the intel dread... oh, and don't bother with the hangar pets, the elite scorps are still the best fighters.

Thanks for the feedback. And yes, I definitely take a more tactical approach in my gameplay, but using the goodies engineers have to offer. When I made an alt to try something different, I rolled tactical, and to be honest, found that I missed having those engineering abilities to hand. Every alt since, even just the dilithium miners, are all engineers. Thanks again for the input ^_^

I agree with nekofury86, the elite scorpion fighters are awesome. I have them on my Fed sci lady and she uses them in her Chronos Temporal Dreadnought, which is outfitted with Romplasma beams, arrays and the Romship set. I also have the Rom weapon three piece set from the RomRep. That ship is a real killer. No, it isn't maxed into the stratosphere DPS-wise, but she still melts anything that gets in her way.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

For what's available to Feds, it sounds like a Warship like the Husnock or Krenim Imperium would suit you better. They don't have the typical Fed look, though, if you meant that and not availability.

Depending on the skin you're talking about for the Vengeance, you might need both the Vengeance and the KT Connie to get that look. Also, it's not the fastest turning cruiser, having a base turnrate of 7, which doesn't hold a candle to any of the escorts or raiders you listed. If you've flown other cruisers with that turnrate, such as the Assault Cruiser/Sovereign class and are happy with them, it'll meet your requirements if you dip into Intel abilities on the Commander Eng/Intel and use the Lt. Comm. Uni as Sci. It won't be able to put much into Sci output with only two Science console slots, though.

The Atlus turns a bit faster at base 8 (bigger difference than it might first seem,) but otherwise doesn't meet any of your wants with having a fixed Commander Eng and no way to slot a Lt. Comm. Sci. The Cruiser itself is mediocre performance wise, but the console it comes with is very impressive offering a clicky giving both an impressive amount of extra durability with a surge of healing and, pending your health is above 80% (checked once a second), which won't take long to get above even at low numbers unless under extremely heavy fire, a large boost to your firepower too. That console is fit-able to any ship on that character too (So's the Vengeance's, but it's active isn't as impressive, though much better passive on it).

They may both be ugly, but that kelvin one tears things up good. Mechanically, it is a great ship. If you cared about looks, you should be a romulan or KDF anyways. We have REAL ships in those factions instead of pizza cutters in space.

    I like pizza cutters. o.o

That's really helpful, thank you :) I don't really bother with Intel abilities, although I do have several Intel-qualified boffs. But if it has Lt.Cmdr universal, then yes, that's where a science boff will be sitting. If the Atlas can't sit a Lt.Cmdr science, that's enough to disqualify it for me, so thank you very much for the input. Vengeance it is, time to start saving :D

Thanks to all who voted and posted :)

    Why? o_O

I didn't want to find out what dreadnoughts 'most' players use, nor solicit recommendations of other dreadnoughts, I wanted folks input on those two specific ships. I wasn't really interested in other ships, so the poll gave me the information I needed :)

I think you misunderstood the entire purpose of this poll....

Evidently. They were asking for other opinions on which one to get for themselves. I understood that.

Someone doesn't seem to understand that design follows function. If they look like pizza cutters, then clearly for their environments and purpose toward which they are made- that is the most effective design. That you don't understand why is a limit of yourself exposed, nothing more.

If that is true, why is the defiant different? Or anything from the klingons or romulans. Or vulcans. Or tellerites. Or basically EVERYONE ELSE. The fact that you are feddie bear centric in a universe full of different ship design says a a pretty damn exposing of your limits I would say. Wanna try a battle of wits? Come armed next time...k.

They optimize for different things of course. You may was well say the F-22 sucks because it doesn't look like a A-10, or a B1 or 747.

Here's a simple rule for people like yourself- if you don't know the answer why in fiction (and you don't), and if the fiction says it works great- go with it. Otherwise you're just being a wet rag.

You apparently cared enough to screenager edgelord post, so that's something.

To the OP, I'd not go for either, and instead drop the cash on a Yamato.

Thanks for the suggestion, but in addition to not being a fan of the three-nacelle look, a check of the Yamato specs shows it only has Lt Sci seating, so it simply doesn't meet my requirement of Lt. Cmdr Science seating. Thanks again for the input :)
