Ok kinda cool the Miranda's getting T-6 but...

So yeah it's kinda cool the Miranda's getting a T-6 version. Not crazy about it but hey I understand the devotion some have to it. That said...
Folks have been asking for it for a very long time and now the wishes of the masses has been granted and t's a C-store purchase. I feel the T-6 Miranda should have been released in the same fashion as the TOS T-6 ships. Why? Cash flow for Cryptic. Given that the Reliant is kind of iconic maybe not as much as the rest of the TOS era ships it is still iconic. On top of that seeing that the 35th anniversary of TWOK is coming up it should have been a special very limited time release in a extremely low probability lockbox just like the TOS ships were for the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. I think Cryptic would make a heck of a lot more money via key sales doing it that way.

They've done enough gamblebox chiseling to tide them over for awhile. Let us enjoy the occasional straightforward transaction.

I think they are being told by the franchise holder how certain iconic ships are to be sold. A T6 version of the original Constitution class for example couldn't be released because they didn't allow it as an endgame ship (until very recently). Cryptic (or Perfect World) might not be as free in their decisions how to sell canon ships as we think.

True enough but as I said in my post iconic ships like it should be handled the same way they did for the TOS ships. Sales of keys spiked and brought in a lot of cash. Plus when they did the TOs ships they kind of set a standard for how future iconic t-6 ships would be released one exception is the NX-refit being a charecter locked Lobi ship. By doing the NXR lobi they also made key purchases a long run revenue maker if you want that ship on several charecters. So it is a staright up purcahse as well and the T-6 Mirandas could have been marketed the same way again creating more cash flow via key sales for lobi from boxes. It would also create long term cash flow given you would need to have TRIBBLE lobi for the purcahse and lobi is only from lockboxes. With the C-store model you get a one time sale from an account as the ships are account wide unlocks while a lobi ship is a charecter bound purchase and as I said to get lobi you need to have keys to have keys someone had to buy them with cash.

True enough but a standard was kind of set as far as how T-6 franchise ships were sold.

From now on all ships should be in a promo pack or lockbox. Wouldn't that be spectacular?

That's a bad idea and you should feel bad for having it.

I was fine with the TOS Conni being in a pack because we know that's CBS' stipulation to keep it rare but I never agreed with the temporal (Wells, Universe etc.), mirror, or Kelvin Timeline ships and uniforms or the D7/T'Liss and TOS dreadnoughts being in packs as they're all main faction material. Same with the TWoK uniforms and weapons languishing in the dil and Lobi stores. I feel they would sell as well if not better in the C-Store.

You do realize it is different people complaining, right? It's almost as if posters here are not a uniform hivemind...

I don't understand the idea behind this topic. "It's not fair I had to invest more to receive my favorite ship than someone else had to invest to receive their favorite ship". So what? Obviously, the ship has enough value to you or you would not pay the asking price. Who cares what someone else pays for their favorite ship?

If the issue is "my favorite ship is too expensive", then that is what you need to address, not how much someone else spends for their shiny pixels.

I think some folks think my topic is complaining about the cost. Far from it if you read my first post it is about cash flow into cryptic's pockets to keep the lights on and pay for content development.

The only logical reason for T6 Miranda being a C-Store ship is that they don't expect the level of demand for it as the T6 TOS Connie. It IS that plain and simple.

You have that a bit backwards.

The only reason why the T6 Kelvin Connie was a lockbox ship is because CBS doesn't want certain ships, such as alien ships, some future ships, and alt unvierse ships, to be super common. Hence the lockbox.

The only reason why the T6 TOS Connie was a R&D promo ship was because CBS REALLY didn't want that to be a common ship, and because it was supposed to be an "older" ship, and thus not that powerful.

Miranda being T-6 and a C-store ship is because its neither that iconic, nor is it that out of date. Mirandas were still being used frequently during the Dominion War, whereas the Connie had been retired ages ago.

No actually I don't have it backwards. The comment was aimed as to why it's not in a Lockbox considering the TOS Connie was.

I'm no fan of them releasing the TOS/TMP revamps because of my head-canon. Whilst the Miranda's innards are easier to re-jig, the Connie's wouldn't, but neither of those ships should have the DPS potential of ships 4 times their size. There's an awful lot of lack of engineering and 'physics' common sense in this game compared to the canon.

No, you do have it backwards, because your comment on why it isn't a lockbox ship was fundamentally incorrect, and I corrected it

You're seriously going to attempt to troll this!? My reasoning on why it isn't in a Lockbox is sound. It would be backwards if I said it SHOULD BE in a Lockbox.

Lumping it all on CBS again. :(

I'm confused. Is the Ferengi posting on someone else's Forum Handle?????

No, I'm wrong, there was no pretense about making it the 'Logical Vulcan' thing to do by releasing it in a Promo R&D Pack.

I feel like this is a thread created just to complain that it's unfair. I find it funny that OP made a post about shoving things in a lockbox/ R&D box in past claiming that Cryptic is losing out on sales and yet he wants the Miranda's put in luck box claiming it would make them more money. Kinda selfish in my opinion that one would think that the new ships should be put in a lockbox promo just because he didn't like the fact the TOS connie was a promo.

Again someone has missed why I posted this thread. It has nothing to do with me but rather cash flow into the game. Case in point: With C-store ships be it a bundle or single ship sale they become an account wide unlock. With me so far? Say you have ten charecters you buy 3000 Zen for 30 bucks and get the C-store ship and wow it's unlocked for you entire spread of ten charecters wheee goodie! So compare that to say the NX-refit that is lobi. Okay you unlock boxes and get enough lobi call it 60 bucks for sake of this comment. Wow Cryptic has doubled it's income from that C-store ship just on one charecter alone. Oh wait you notice it is charecter locked not account unlocked oh wow you want it on your other nine charecters. Well you go and buy 540 dollars worth of keys for enough lobi via the lockboxs to do that. So wow Cryptic has made 18 times the revenue for doing a lobi release over the C-store release. Or another way of creating more revenue would be to make the C-store purchase unlockable only by one charecter they already have this for items drydock slots and so on. So for ten charecters that would be 300 dollars total revenue comapred to just 30 dollars for all ten charecters. That's my point Cryptic could make a lot more revenue to keep the lights on and pay for new content this way. That is the ENTIRE point of my post revenue into the company so they can keep this game growing. You are reading things into it that are not there.
