ok, so here's what i noticed, and yes they mostly appear to be clipping issues:
The rank insignias on all uniforms
ToS chest insignias (ship and formal)
Enterprise patches (main and mirror universe)
Jupiter Veteran belt
Formal belt
WoK belt
Also some of the hairstyles:
New Style Elegant
Short 01-07
Buzz Cut
Short Flared
Faux Hawk
Spikey Bangs
Pigtails 01
Pony Tail 01-05
Short
TopKnot
Remember, getting mad at me and taking it out on your keyboard.... just means you need a new keyboard
Same thing has happened to me also. Occurred after the new season release. The hair has some square shapes in it, the rank insignias on some uniforms have large rectangles around them taking up half the chest. Seems like pixels gone wild. On some hairstyles, especially long hair, it gives the characters massive bangs like to the point its covering their eyes and with the ponytails the ponytail is encompassed in a rectangle edging like a pixel. New release new problems.
I have discovered a partial fix to this bug. It only fixes how our captains and BOFFs look like in a ground map. It does not fix how they look in any of the interface windows.
- click options
- click graphics
- click "use sliders"
- slide "Graphic Detail (cpu)" all the way to the left and then back to its original position (for me it was all the way to the right)
- click apply (u should see the improvement even before clicking apply on your captain if u are on a ground map)
Hope this works for everyone else. I have signed off and back on a couple times and the fix seems til be holding....at least til tomorrow lol. Again this will not work for their appearances in any of the interface windows, haven't figured how to fix that yet. Hopefully Cryptic will have a patch for it all soon. Good luck.
Yes, I'm having the issue too (though now partially).
Frtoaster offered a workaround for that as well - will later try to find the topic to link to this too.

Until they fix the bug, a temporary workaround is to turn on both "Postprocessing" and "Cinematic focus (depth of field)". Some people have suggested turning on "Screen-space ambient occlusion", but if you don't turn on "Postprocessing", then certain hairstyles, such as the one worn by the Cardassian tailor on ESD, will still look wrong.
Tacofangs said, "This will only occur if you have SSAO, Shadows AND Depth-of-Field turned off." But it's clear to me that this bug has several cases, some of which don't depend on "Shadows" or SSAO. You read my discussion with him here:
