My fear is that queues like these will attract many players who are perfectly fine with whatever reward they get when their team loses. As a result they won't even try to win which is gonna make it even more frustrating for those who do.

I have to agree with you on this. AFKers are everywhere now days.
As soon as I saw more puzzle solving and team working where it wasn't a necessity to be the most efficient by being a tactical class, all I thought was OMG I WANT TO PLAY. If you can spam this kind of completion in the way of puzzle solving then I'm game.
That said, if this truly plays like it sounds, then I might give it a go. This sounds like it might actually have zero direct interaction with the opposing team and it's just a matter of getting finished first. Oh sure it says "you can still trip them up from a distance!", but I'm hoping that's more along the lines of 'Team A flips a switch and opens a door for NPC's to get to Team B' type scenario.
Unlike Core Assault which, let's be honest, is PvP with an opening salvo of PvE. That thing is just going to turn into a frag fest at the end. No thanks.
I'll wait until more information is released, but I'm actually holding out hope that this may be good.

You're right on the money there. Core Assault is sort of a hybrid that includes some PVP at the very end, Binary Circuit has no direct fighting with the other team but a lot of little ways to slow them down.

Okay then, sign me up. I doubt I'll be of much use to a team, but I'm willing to try.

And the AFKers will probably lose rating faster than the non-AFKers. Thus getting sifted to the bottom with others of their kind.

This pleases me; after all, there's more to the PvP space than head-to-head combat. Hopefully, this won't be the sole queue in this vein.
This looks interesting and maybe even good. Hopefully the puzzles and tasks are variable enough that people won't be able to memorize them once, then grind endlessly.
That too would be welcome; it should not be that difficult a thing to do, coding-wise.

The answer is the same as it has been since the 1980s FIDOnet multiplayer games.
Choose your teams. Don't expect a computer to do It for you. Computers can be gamed, which is your point. But you are not willing to take the next step.
Choose your own teams. Join a fleet that is willing to organize matches.
Maybe you could be one of those organizers...........

Not sure how that will work when the queue is the way to get marks.
Hi, I know I may sound like a newbee to this (I really don't care) but I would just like clarification. The new war game scenarios that will be released with Season 13, are you able to create your own private PVP games? Reason I ask is because my fleet would like to create a in-house 'tournament' and want to be able to have people battle it out with each other. If not, then we will just use the current PVP games. Just thought we could take up on the opportunity of the new release. Thanks.
Wow, it's not just the word PvP that incites rage and fury from the PvE space-Barbie crowd. It's the word competitive too.
You'll still get a reward for being second. Perhaps being more attentive to the chat box or helping players who don't know what they're doing so that you can achieve the common goal will be something hat you might want to try. Not everything needs DPS at the end of the day. Some things need teamwork. After all, teamwork is OP.
This looks like a recipe for disaster.
Sure, in the beginning there's going to be a learning curve, but, what I am referring to is later on, when most new players are just going to skip the Normal level and jump in to the Elite level and totally ruin the experience and create frustration when one or more players utter the very cringy phrase, "How do you do this mission?" Right in the middle of the race.
From what I have seen, this is the perfect place for trolls to just have fun and as usual Cryptic will totally be ignorant of the complaints because of their complaint Bot will just file it away in some dark corner never to be seen until an uproar is made on the forums.
Just found a player exploiting the Privateer lockbox kit module 'Stabilized folded space transporter'. He always spawned right at our teams initial spawn in point of the mission, making it impossible for us to even complete the first challenge. There should be NO WAY players can exploit the module in this way, making it supremely un-fun to even try to play that mission once more. Please make it impossible for trolls like that to use this module in this way in this mission! And besides, the mission description doesn't allow that behavior, so it can't really be what you wanted Cryptic, can it?

sounds like they are not working advance and elite queues always hand out elite marks so this seems to be a bug that needs a bit of attention
