Best Polaron Weapon?

I'm trying to make a Polaron build and I'm getting conflicting advice.
One person told me the Vaadwaur weapons are trash and I should use Dominion. At least 2 people told me the Vaadwaur is the best option. And one person told me to go with Protonic...

I don't know a lot about the game mechanics but it seems to me that a chance to drain all systems AND a chance to damage all shield facings is better than a chance at a measly 10% more shield piercing. Am I wrong? Is shield piercing THAT good?

As of right now I plan to use my Fleet Arbiter, with the entire Chronometric Calculations set, the Piezo beam (seriously is +80 Crit Severity a typo?) and console, and the KCB...so I need 3 good Polaron beam arrays.

As of right now it's best to sit and wait for awhile with all the "nerfs" currently happening. No one is going to be able to answer the question for several weeks at least I would think. At the end of the day though, unless you're someone who wants to be one of the 1% in terms of DPS, just going with crafted with whatever the "best" mods are (once this all shakes out and is known), would be more than adequate.

Honestly, it's gonna come down to what you want it to do.

In terms of hybrid weapons, Dominion Polaron is one of the best as it combines the Polaron and Tetryon procs without sacrificing a mod to do it. However, they only come in beam array and dual cannon flavors and ONLY come from Boldly They Rode. So getting a full set of beams is a hassle. Also they only come in Mk XI Blue, so you'd have to upgrade them.

Vaadwaur Polaron's proc, I believe, allows for some shield bypass. So whoever told you it was garbage probably just doesn't like it. Also, the Beam weapons fire in bolts instead, but still function as beams so visually its something cool and different. However getting a full set may be expensive on the Exchange. But they come in all flavors of beams and cannons.

Protonic I'm not that familiar with, but I do know that it has a chance to cause extra Proton damage, of which there really isn't a way to buff resistance to. But again, its only a CHANCE to get that extra bit of Proton in.

So really its all down to personal preference.

Dominion Polaron: 2.5% chance to reduce all enemy subsystem power levels by 25 for 5 sec and 2.5% chance to deal additional shield damage
Vaadwaur Polaron: 2.5% chance to reduce enemy shield hardness by 10% vs energy weapons, and by 50% vs kinetic for 10 sec
Protonic Polaron: 2.5% chance to reduce all enemy subsystem power levels by 25 for 5 sec and 25% chance on critical to deal additional damage
Thoron Infused Polaron: 2.5% chance to apply a non-stacking damage-over-time debuff, lower the target's critical chance by 1% and critical severity by 15% for 5 sec and placate the target once every 15 sec
Chronometric Polaron: 2.5% chance +15% shield penetration to self; +20% critical severity

I got a fleetmate who made a decent Polaron build. If you're interested, PM me or something and I'll direct him to you for advice.

I like Vaudwaur, but for looks and just doing a different energy type and gear, not any drain stuff.

Looking to try the Lukari Rep ones or go with the Dominion ones from New Link (I think) if I was to try any type of using Polaron for the actual Polaron abilities.

There is also Phased Polaron to consider.

I don't think to highly of Protonic or Thoron infused Polaron.

Yea... the Lukari Piezo Polaron isn't listed in the Wiki yet so can't really compare that.

The beam has a 5% chance to boost hull and shield regen and +80% Crit Severity(for some reason). The console increases Polaron dmg, Shield Cap and Turn Rate. And the 2-piece set bonus gives +15 Polaron and Proton dmg and +20 Drain.
