Probably best to just slow down and post with deliberation.
Actually I do slow down and post with consideration on the forums. It's the people who try to profit off other players should be the ones slowing down.
How else do you suggest people earn profit?
Other players have all the space money, if you want it you have to get it from them...
Easy, you earn profit by selling crafting material and doing simple farming missions.
Um no, If I want the space money I just go get it myself thank you.
No, what you are seeing is an anti-conman agenda. I can't stand it when people try to profit off other players misery in STO. There is plenty of ways of becoming rich without being a Jerk to other players. People selling the Enterprise-J for 1.5 billion plus are just being greedy Ferengi. If people didn't want that ship they should have never bought the lockboxes in the first place.
This is a star trek game you're supposed to be a Ferengi...
I'd rather not be a Ferengi, thank you.
That's fine, but it's not very friendly to shame folks who embrace the Ferengi traditions.

Get it from where? NPCs dont pay much for crafting materials. NPCs are desperately poor and only pay scrap value for stuff.
You get crafting materials from the R&D tab. You be surprise how much people will pay for crafting materials on the exchange. I seen very rare to epic loot sell for millions.

Considering Druk's ridiculous in-game wealth, I don't think he'd be too surprised by what people pay for things.
What kind of epic R&D materials are you talking about, out of curiosity?

Weren't you just going on about how you're not supposed to get money from other players?
Uh? I never say that you are not supposed to get money from other players. I don't mind that people try to make money off the exchange. That what the exchange was made for so people can make money off it. It when people try to sell icon ships like the Enterprise-J for 1.5 billion plus I do mind.

They cost more than 1.5 billion to intentionally produce in bulk. Are you drawing the line there simply because the market price has a lot of digits or is there some other reason?

What gives you a say in it though? No money no talk.
If you have one you want to give away cheap, do it. But no money no talk.
Simple, I been playing the game before it went free to play. I am one of the guys who been footing the bill for this game. I have every right to speak my mind just as non-paying members do.

If you want to sell your enterprise-J ship cheap then do it... what's the issue?
You do you, let other people do other people you feel me?
If I have the Enterprise-J I would sell it for cheap. I wouldn't mind selling it for 900 million or less. That will be more than enough to buy a couple ships off the exchange.

Pretty sure Cryptic didn't use energy credits to make the Enterprise-J.

The in-game promo ships that are being traded by folks are being produced by players.

Indeed. Right now promo packs are going for 17.5m. On average, about 100 are opened for each ship produced.
So, 17.5m x 100 = 1,750,000,000.
These 100 packs also give you 1000 lobi and 100 R&D boxes.
1000 lobi is something in the neighborhood of 300m, 100 R&D boxes is 145m.
So we can do math:
1,750,000,000
-300,000,000
-145,000,000 =
1,305,000,000 cost to produce each ship.
Thieves and scammers try to rob you by demanding you give them your valuable property for less than its worth, but never be bullied by their greed! If you have a valuable item, get what its worth, don't be a victim of scams!
Yep, that sounds about right. It usually takes people a hundred boxes before they get their ship. Sometimes people will open up hundreds of boxes and still get nothing.
The people selling the ships are giving you a guaranteed drop on the ship you want.
Because of them, there is no gambling, no random chance, just you getting exactly what you want with no gamble. They charge what the market dictates for items they sell. If they put the ship up for 1.5B and no one bought one, they would lower the price, it's basic supply and demand.
They're taking all the risk and giving you a guaranteed way to get the item you want. The fact that people are flocking to pay the asking price is all the proof you need to show that it's a fair transaction. They have a right to pocket some profit, they're the one doing the gambling so you don't have to.
If you object to their asking price, then crack open your wallet and get the ship yourself.

Right on point here
If people are willing to pay the 1.5B then the price will stay at 1.5B, if no one buys their ship and it is collecting dust in their inventory then the price will drop, simple as that.

Seems like some folks buy into the myth that a small group of people are cornering the market of some ships and fixing the price. They seem to believe nobody is willing to pay those prices and that the sellers are somehow colluding with each other to only offer to sell those ships at that price.

My Klingon character would say otherwise.

Tin foil, really.
Some people wanted ec and some people wanted keys but promo boxes were selling better on the exchange.
I finally just bought boxes and sold them to get as close to a billion ec as possible and just bought the keys the seller wanted at the sale.
I did run afoul of the daily Zen limit but fortunately the seller accepted what remaining boxes I had.
( I was only short 20 Keys how frustrating)
Please note that's the 2nd awesome seller for the 2nd awesome ship I have encountered so it's not hard to get a ship you want.
