Extended downtime ruined my chance of getting Anniversary ship

reaper#7623 reaper Member Posts: 3 Arc User
I had exactly enough days to get the anniversary ship complete and had been doing the daily every day for the past few weeks. If the servers had come up at noon like they said they would have I would have had exactly enough points. But since they didn't have the servers up until hours later I am left without the ship that I spent every day working towards. I sent in a ticket and they said they would like to help but there is nothing they can do, that they would love to give me the missing 40 anniversary marks but they don't have the capacity to give items? really, this is stupid. I started playing the game a week or more well into this anniversary event and if they had fulfilled their duty and done the patch on time I would have the ship. So now I have the event at 960/1000. Every other MMO I have ever played the GM could fix such things, are the GM's in this game so powerless, did Cryptic really not give them the tools to fix their mistakes? what a shame, especially since I've spent all the hours needed towards this event and spent money on the game in the short time I have played it. I wish I'd have known this before I spent money because no MMO is worth playing if the GM's cant do anything

It's not their mistake. Per the event blog, the anniversary event ended when maint ends (although it really should state when maint begins). In reality, most people should count the day before the event ends as the last day, since maint is usually over.

But I believe you're not gonna get a GM to give you 40 tokens because the event ended on time.

This. An event always ends at maintenance. Also the avenue to get more vouchers via Lobi is always there during the event also. I'll also point out that there is also more days than there is required for people to earn the vouchers, in this case well over 10 extra days.

To be honest...there is lots of time to do the event...you didn't need almost every day of the event...I didn't start on time and I didn't do the grind every day and I still got it done without spending any Lobi.

I'm sorry if you had RL priorities that prevented you from doing the event many of the days it was available...but that isn't the Devs fault.

Keep the project slotted and grab it next year with that year's vouchers or spend the lobi.

Every time we have an event like this..we have a thread like this.

The event took place from January 26th till Feb 23rd, a total of 28 days. The featured episode gave 400 of the anniversary vouchers leaving the player to acquire 600 for the ship. The daily event awards 40 vouchers meaning the player had to participate in 15 total runs of the event. So you had to do 15 runs in 28 days.

Add to that, the fact that the Omega Event was actually once every 20 hours, not 24.. you didn't even have to wait a full day. The fact that you couldn't do a 5 minute event 15 times in 28 days is not Cryptics fault.. it's yours. The deadline was clearly given at the starting of the event, the fact that maintenance lasted a couple extra hours is irrelevant. The issue is you waited until the very last possible second to complete the event and it ended up costing you.

Learn your lesson and move on. If you were too busy to do the event, then that's fine, but it's still not Cryptics fault.

OP, not Cryptic's fault you couldn't find enough days to play the event. Certainly enough time is given as I'll have ten spare days when finished.

I always find this kind of threads, fascinating, due to how they keep showing up, yet all the previous events worked the same way: the event always finishes during (or on rarer occasions, just after when the maintenance is shorter than expected) the maintenance.

I guess the devs should try and say all their next events will last one day shorter (but still letting them run until the update), to see if those threads will disappear or not.

They would not. Instead, they would be joined by people complaining that they gave up on trying to get the reward because they were told the event would end.

Cryptic is wise to just ignore the whining.

I have to agree with everyone else. You lost out and it was your own fault. I started the event the moment it started and got my ship exactly on time. Thankfully I got it just before my computer decided to fry its processor too. Still, I could have finished it on my laptop too, I just wouldn't have picked up many traces and no slivers due to lag.

These events always, ALWAYS, give plenty of time to acquire 1000 tokens, even if you must acquire them 40 at a time, as you do during the Summer/Winter Events.

I have never not been able to acquire 1000 tokens in the time given in these events. The activity required usually only takes a few minutes each time and now only needs to be completed by one captain per account.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

Open up about a dozen Infinity Lockboxes and use the Lobi to buy the remaining 40 Vouchers and you got your Ship. Otherwise, leave the Project slotted and use 40 of the 400 Eighth Anniversary Vouchers you get for running next year's Featured Episode.

Never cut it this close if you can avoid it. Akways consider the last day, when the Event ends, as a non-day to get the Event done and you will never go wrong.

    Lesson Learned, I hope.

Threads like this are always interesting. Here's a thought. Maybe the person is new to the game so doesn't know how things work. Maybe they heard there was a free ship give away and joined because of that. I guess for some people that sort of thing doesn't even enter their mind as they simply look for people to attack on the forums for any reason.

Hey guys, give the man a break. He says right there in the OP that he just started playing the game well into the Anniversary Event. He had exactly enough days to get the ship, according to his calculations. As a new player, he's not going to know how everything works just yet. Could he have acquired Lobi to complete the project? Of course, but maybe he didn't know about Lobi yet. Who knows? I feel for you, OP, to have come so close. But don't cancel the project. Maybe you can still buy some Vouchers from the Lobi Store. If not, there's always the possibility of finishing it off next year.

Y'know, we could have an event that lasts 365 days and only requires you to run it 15 times and you'd still get people complaining that they need an extra day...

Temporal Recruiting lasted for 6 weeks, you could do the time-limited part all in one sitting, and people still complained they just missed it.

Welcome to your first experience of 'cryptic time'. Try to finish the event at least one or two days early to combat it. Worse uk/eu as we had one or two unanounced extra dowtime during peak hours aswell. Imo this event should have been extended a until monday because of those. But I guess the pheonix box put an end to that.

And yes, it is clearly your fault that the servers were down longer than they said they would be.

P.S. vouchers aren't meant to be used from one year to the next anymore(was a bug this year that got patched out), so unfortunatley don't count on that as an option.

You use next year's Vouchers to finish the last year's slotted project.

This reminds me of my highschool days, where ppl were complaining they fell like 0.1 points short of passing their final exams. To which I invariably responded: "You didn't flunk because you were 0.1 points short, but because you were stupid enough to let it come down to a 0.1 points margin."

Same difference here: the game gives you a *very* comfortable margin for these (what, like 1/3rd extra of the time needed?). Don't let it all come down to the last minute, and then complain because an extended downtime pushed you over said minute.

I'm with @meimeitoo on this. It's not like cryptic gives you 30 days to earn 30 tokens. I claimed my ship and had at least two weeks to spare. If you can't get it within that time period you weren't trying very hard.
