It seems most bizarre that you require a console from an unobtainable ship in order to unlock the 4-piece set bonus on the flagships set called 'Flagship Technologies'.
It encourages playing anniversay content to earn said ship. More play time during sweeps periods mean boosts to metrics, something to show on paper how popular the game or event is. Popularity and loggons equate money for game business.
If you want them to remove the requirement for the fourth Console, you'd then have a three Console set and you already have that. I don't understand the problem unless you don't like seeing something that looks incomplete with a 3/4.

Fourth year actually, Dyson ships were the first to include a 4th equipment piece to a c-store 3-set.

Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
I would not mind if they had opened the other consoles that are part of the sets that the anniversary ships are apart of to be used on the anniversary ship. It just feels abit odd that even though the anniversary ship's console is part of a set that has other consoles fully excluded from being used on it. Like with the Kobali cruiser an the command platform set from the command battle-cruiser, or more recently the Lukari science ship an the multi-mission system set from themulti-mission explorer science ships.

This. I find it unusual that you can't use the multi-mission consoles on the Lukari ship. Or the command consoles on the Samsar
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
This whole system of requiring a console from an Event Ship to complete the set of the C-Store ships you purchased has to end.
This is coming from someone who has all the consoles, it's not about me being upset because I missed something. It's just an incredibly stupid system that is frankly disheartening and unfair to those that were away from the game during an event or those who are new to STO.
While exclusivity does make people sit and play for the events, once the event is over for a period of time and most players have moved on to their next 'shiny object' it is somewhat silly that Cryptic would not opt to MAKE MONEY by putting event consoles (or ships) in the lobi store. Say they waited 1yr to do it; by then 95% of the people who got it during the event won't still be using it. So the whole exclusivity thing is passé.
Either that or let people choose what event ship they want for the event. For example: Summer Event. Say someone didn't really care about this year's ship so instead opted to unlock the Risian Corvette instead. They still only get 1 new ship from the event, they just choose which one.
I've managed to keep up with all the important stuff since I started playing. I think the only event thingies that I've failed to earn in recent years have been the current weekend event reward and the agony rifle. The point of these events is to get people to play. And the phoenix box is now a thing so I'm sure that we'll see more stuff added to it for those people that fail to play the events.

Correct me if I'm wrong but secondary deflectors were added to the game well after the original solanae c-store ships were released which would only make this a retroactively created event/cstore set instead of the first one.

I actually have no problem with exclusive items, I just think that if you purchase a 3 pack of a ship then you should get everything that comes with it. It's fine with me if consoles like the Samsar Console or Krenim Console are 'exclusive,' I just don't like them being part of a set with purchased ships.
I know they won't change it, but I still think it's a bad idea.

I disagree with locking console sets behind events that people may miss due to real life circumstances or promotions like the Command Enterprise E not having enough stock.
Surely the ship itself is the exclusive part ? as once the promotion/event ends, then sorry you missed it. Most people can live with that. I know I can.
But locking Console set bonuses behind this train of thought def feels like a brain TRIBBLE moment. It may even put some people off purchasing the C-Store ships with the knowledge they can't complete the console set.
Place these consoles in the Lobi or better yet Dil store please

Hello rubber banding my old friend, time to bounce around the battlezone again, where are all my bug reports going?, out of love with this game I am falling, As Cryptic fail to acknowledge a problem exists, Shakes an angry fist, And from Support all I'm hearing are the sounds of silence.
The Anniversary Dyson Science Destroyer also had the Warp Core/Singularity Core, which was part of the four piece Solanae set as well.

The Console sets really need an update pass and made Very Rare to begin with. The newest Sphere Builder set came out that way. I mean for 200 Lobi they should be VR to begin with.

Personally, I've missed the Dyson ships since I started playing just after that I believe, which is now lobi store (character or account bind on purchase, not sure which of the two), and so only bought the Harpia as opposed to all 3 Dyson Sci Destroyer Warbirds which would have really maximized protonic polaron build despite how totally underwhelming and expensive it is.
I speculate their model is primarily set up to encourage players to participate, and as incentive to buy ship packs as opposed to individual ships because of set bonuses. The problem is, many if not the majority of ship consoles limit a ship's real potential, and those ready to gamble away phoenix boxes for the ships would presumably already have disposable resources that would be used to acquire proper lobi/lockbox/rep/crafted/fleet gear instead.
One instance I can think of ship console set bonuses being useful is on alts who don't have proper gear, or when one wants to just role-play with more fun clickies, in which case being character bound from phoenix boxes totally nullifies incentive in the former scenario.
I'd support an account wide console unlock in the lobi store. No ship for you, but lets you play those sets in peace on all your characters.
I definitely agree with this. Even if they keep it as it is, phoenix box, acquiring any ship there should at least make its console(s) account-wide reclaimable even if the ship itself follows the lockbox/lobi bound to character model.
I also have all of the event ships. I think this whole thing of locking a set to a limited time ship would work if ALL of the SHIPS involved in the set are limited as well. By having one ship and thereby one console limited, then releasing a freely available ship, (Yes I know its got to be purchased but you know what I mean.) Is just going to hurt a lot of players.
I know several people in my fleet, were going to purchase the sets in the c store but when they found out they had no way of finishing the sets, they changed there mind real fast. There have been posts in here from people who had bought the sets then looked for ways to finish it and they started raging about it.
If you want the ships exclusive then fine, set it so people who have the ships get the console for free, and add the console to the event store or Dill store, or Lobi store. Heck even add it to the GPL store and give Latinium a use at the same time.
The Dyson Science Destroyer in the Lobi Store is Bind on Acquire. It is the only ship in the Store to be so. You can never ever get it for EC on the Exchange because of that.

i have 2 sets that require equipment from lobi ships that have yet to be released on ps4 (elachi monbosh and obelisk carrier)
3 sets that require purchasing of numerous ships from the c-store (over 10k zen)
1 set that requires the 2015 anniversary kobali ship that consoles have yet to get the chance to do.
the anniversary krenim ship will finally allow me to complete the chronometric calculations mission set as it requires the krenim torpedo launcher, but tying all these universal consoles to unobtainable ships forcing players to wait until cryptic decides to release them or requiring players to gouge their wallets to obtain is insane and unfair.

Agreed. I almost feel bad for having bought the t6 scimi bundle when it came out, as I wasn't aware there was a fourth piece, and neither was I around during the Krenim ship event (I was busy with something else). I hope they change this... make the console available in the c-store somehow or include the fourth piece in the bundle or just revise the set to 3 pieces only.
Or even if you are there at the time and wait too long to do something about it, you can't enjoy the spoils either.

Show to who?! I always wondered, LOL. Is this like Geko 'forcing' you to play that highly annoying middle DR mission (lest you can't progress), just so he can pat himself on the back and think ppl are really into DR!? I mean, who are they trying to fool here? Themselves?! Their Chinese Overlords? I never understood this. It would be one thing if they actually published those metrics (as then we'd be the ones they're trying to dub), but they're not even doing that. So, they're basically just showing themselves.

You're wrong (and right).
The DSD was the first ship with a secondary deflector, the other deflectors were rolled out a while after it once some "live-testing" was done by the players.
