It could always be a perk of the lockbox ships. (EXP. Get the Tholian ship and you unlock the Tholian interior theme.)
Yes, that would be nice. Hmmm we don't really have a good simulation of a Xenomorph interior though. I think the closest we have in game are Khellid assets, but those aren't part of a ship interior.

Also.... are @artan42 's pantaloons made from Tholian silk?

If implemented the way I envision it, owning a Lock Box Ship would unlock unique textures that would/could be applied to the default Ship Interior map (Another way to further monetize the idea). A player could then possibly either apply said textures to the Interior, or the textures could automatically apply (linking bridge aesthetics to the interior) when switching to that ship. For example, using a Guardian with the Origins bridge would give the rest of the ship a typical 2410 Starfleet decor, but when the player switches to their Tholian Tarantula, the Ship Interior map takes on a Tholian aesthetic automatically without need of visiting a Ship Tailor.
I think there is some limitation in what you can do with mere textures. Tholian hallways and doors have different physical measures then a typical Starfleet interior. The same for Klingons. It might not look all that satisfying. But I'd accept it that if it jut meant they could start making missions that take place in our ship interiors.

As to a Xenomorph interior, what does the inside of an Undine ship look like?
Ah, that does have some similarities as well.

Well, I don't mean that the interior would become a Tholian interior, or Undine interior, or Jem'Hadar interior, or whichever. No, the existing hallways, doors, ceilings, etc. would just apply the same textures, colors, lights, like the way various Reputation Space Gear applies a visual to the ship's hull, etc. A Starfleet Starship doesn't become a Tholian Recluse just because it uses Nukara gear, it just gets a new texture applied. It would work the same way with the interior.

JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Besides the gazillion ideas already in this thread why it is indeed financial sound (also we are not really talking about something flashy never done in MMOs before here) why don't you tell what YOU would like to see/use/customize interiors for; tell whats your favorite in-ship moments from the ST shows/movies are and let Cryptic ponder on how to get your money based on that ;)

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't complaining at all. I'd very much like to see the suggestions brought up here come to life.

However, what I would like to see for interiors is essentially irrelevant if the cost to produce it is beyond what Cryptic/PWE are willing to invest.

Keep in mind, this isn't the first rodeo Cryptic has had with "interiors/player housing". They struggled with what to do with supergroup bases back in CoX and I can recall many a Dev post on the CoX forums as to the (sometimes extreme) amount of work involved in adding spawn points etc. to available maps for use in the Mission Architect. They added very limited player housing/hideouts in CO. No doubt, housing/ship interiors is a lot of work for them as we've heard many times here.

Nothing is impossible, however from what I've read and heard from Devs over the years, interiors are a costly venture and to do anything meaningful with them would probably lead to less customization, otherwise they would have to price things so high no one would buy them.

I play since... some time between 1st and 2nd anniversary. So yeah, I think I have heard all excuses :p

And "beyond cost", well... full deckplan like interior ? :D

I would not complain, but would already be satisfied with something smaller. Variations of what we have with some customization options (here again based on of what we have) added. Something I'm convinced is within the realm of realistic possible like crew-uniform for the no-name NPCs walking around or direct boffs to ship/bridge-stations; a modernization of the free interiors or a general new "use with any bridge" interior.

"Build your own decks" like in these @thegreendragoon1 examples while awesome is something I simply do not believe will happen.

I like the idea of making our own starship interiors.

Saw someone say no one uses the interior so what is the point?

No one uses it because there is nothing to do and they are all the same basically.

I think they could make plenty of money on customizing interiors.....want a plant in that corner...pay a buck....people would spend hours of time and considerable dilemma or zen making unique interiors. Players would have reasons to invite others since there would be something different to see.

The outside of the ship is nice but, the interiors were the home for our hero's on the shows.
