Hey all.
I was fortunate enough to acquire a Kelvin Command Cruiser during the last run of infinity lock-boxes. It's exactly what I wanted, so needless to say I was pretty stoked. What's more, I had thought I wouldn't be able to use it until max-level. It's double awesome that I was able to use it right away.
The trouble is the bridge.
You see, I love walking around the inside of my ship. I spend a lot of time in the ready room. That's where I do all my DOFF assignments, accept/turn in missions, and walk around to really feel like I'm
there, in my own starship. I go to engineering, my captain's quarters, the bar, hell even the transporter room (I sort of visit the inside of my ship when I'm about to beam into a place, then exit the interior on a transport pad to beam out, then select to dock/beam down/whatever...and it looks like I beamed from the transporter froom!...that's super nerdy, I know...does anyone else do that...I'm rambling, sorry).
Unfortunately, the Kelvin constitution bridge is only one room, allowing only three bridge officers to appear at a time.
Now, to be clear, this is not a complaint that the rest of the Kelvin Constitution interior is not modeled. That would be cool, but it's not something I expected. What I really would like, however, (and don't quite understand why I can't currently do this) is to swap out the bridge with one of the many other Federation bridges, like my beloved Origin bridge. While I'm sure it'll sound ridiculous to many--especially those who have tried unsuccessfully to get the ship--not being able to walk around the interior of the ship is a deal breaker. So I simply don't use it. Which, I think, is a real shame. Because it's a beautiful ship and I'm sure a hell of a lot of fun in battle.
That I am able to swap out the bridge of my Romulan's Scimitar/Falchion/Tulwar Dreadnought, for the standard Romulan bridge, was actually a determining factor in my using it (even after I already purchased the whole bundle!
) To be clear, the Scimitar interior (that thalaron generator tho) and the Kelvin bridge are very nice. But they are limited and I don't want limited. I want FREEDOM!!!! At least, with the Dreadnought, I have a little bit of that.
So, I guess...
Am I missing something? Is it a bug? Is there a way to swap the bridge out? And if not, has there been any rationale for the state of things; or, better yet, discussion of allowing the use of other bridges?
Sorry for the wall of text! ((Edit: Also sorry if this has come up before. I searched but couldn't find anything. I'm terrible at this sort of thing...))

The only time i know you cant do this if its a non faction ship ie the kobali or lukari so unless because its from another universe its classed a non fed ship it sounds like a bug.

im aware of that but he was asking about switching the bridge to the default one origin which for some reason you cant.

You aren't actually able to choose any others because there's only the one option in the selection menu. They are limited to only using the Bridge that comes with the ship and you can't "retrofit" it to use something else.
I totally feel with you. Aside from the nasty attempt at copying the movies lensflare its a great looking bridge; even teasing with two equally great turbolifts which you ca enter to go nowhere.
The overall style would IMO not be completely out of place with optionally adding the small/medium/large standard SF interiors. While that still leaves out the ready room it would have everything else then; including some trophy spots.
*cough* itsnotliketheymadeenoughmoneywithittowarrantafullfledgedkelvininterior *cough* Damn this flu and its weird coughing.
But, and this may display my extreme ignorance of the lobi system, the ship came out of a lockbox. I didn't buy it with lobi crystals. Are lockbox ships lobi ships?
And if so, that's a good answer for why I am unable to switch bridges, in that it answers the question "Why?" But I don't see the rationale behind it. That I can switch out the default, custom bridge on the Scimitar Dreadnought for the standard Romulan Bridge, implies that it does work. Considering how small the Romulan bridge is compared to the Dreadnought, one of the biggest ships in the game, it's clearly not an inside/outside issue.
It's one thing to not be able to put a Fed/Rom/KDF bridge on, say, a Jem'Hadar ship. But I can't use Federation bridges on a Federation ship? Does this also apply for ships from the mirror universe lockbox? Or is it the case with Kelvin ships because they're not only "from another universe," but because they're "from another universe AND are assigned a custom bridge?"
Yo soy muy perplexed. I don't suppose Cryptic has addressed this before on the forums or in a blog, eh?
P.S.
Thanks everyone for the replies so far!
Why not? It *should* be a complaint. And I thought Kelvin interior was a remake of the full TOS one (like the one I got for my T1 Connie). Guess not. But then, yes, T6 Connie owners should at least be able to use the T1 full TOS interior, IMHO.
No one besides the devs know why things like that are locked off the way they are and to my knowledge none have ever posted anywhere as to why. I don't currently own any mirror universe ships to check but if I had to guess, and I may be wrong, they're locked out of using faction bridges as well. Things that are locked to one faction SHOULD have all their faction options available as well as the unique bridge that comes with them. For whatever reason they don't. It's annoying for things like the Kelvin Constitution but at this point since they haven't given us the reasoning why I doubt we'll ever know or it'll be changed.
The mirror Sovereign has no unique bridge; it has the stock selection of free and purchased Starfleet bridges and small/medium/large interior choice. My guess based on that is thats the way with all MU vessels.
I do not think they have addressed that Kelvin thing specifically but towards interiors in general every now and then claim that, like it is now, it would not be profitable enough to them to dive in full steam ahead compared to even moar new ships. Not a direct quote but thats usually what it boils down to.
So first they need to invent something that kind of revamps interiors (without devaluing the spend-money-on stuff too much) and makes it possible to do more with it design and gameplay wise. But for that to happen ppls interest in new ships must sink first otherwise there is no incentive for Cryptic to look for greener pastures. Chances are they'd rather risk a T7 line of ships before adding what would most likely be a whole new level of gameplay addition.
eventually they have to... either that or take the radical step of selling us other shiny in the z-store like races and outfits. maybe even customizable "player housing" and they could sell us furniture and thematic sets...
so basically t7 is all but guaranteed, just a question of when
I think they can find another avenue for sales, new variants of already released T6s with different specs for example. T7 would honestly make me feel somewhat exhausted considering that after several years I finally have most of the end game ships I want, and a 7th tier would restart that whole process.
oh sure they CAN find other stuff to sell, there's a ton of f2p and b2p games out there for them to see how its done... I just don't think they WILL
Seems I have some soul searching to do...
just noticed this? The devs gave up on interiors years ago and have flat out said the only time we'll ever get to see interiors, especially new ones, is if they have to make one for a mission. Even then we don't get to buy/add it to our ships.
For example we get to run around inside the Lleiset, a full Scimitard interior, but people who own them cannot do so.
I thought that when I first bought Gorn ships for cash... didn't work for me either
The big difference is that c-store ships pretty much never get unique bridges, whereas lobi and lockbox ships always get a unique bridge. Even the Vengeance, the first ever faction-locked lobi ship, had it's own bridge even though it has not and probably will not ever be used for anything else. Now, the Fed undiscovered ship I can understand because the appropriate bridge and interior is already available, however the romulan and klingon ships should have at least got a recolored connie interior (I believe they said that's how the alien TOS interiors were originally done anyway), and the NX absolutely should have had a unique bridge.
