I've mostly gone for cannons/turrets. Beams are okay, but it feels more action filled to watch a hailstorm of cannon bolts shooting out.

Emitters! KT Phaser and Vaadwaur Polaron. They look awesome when you cut loose with beam overload.

Well, yeah, I know YOU GUYS are talking about cannons on canon ships. LOL :D

I meant which did the OP actually mean, since, you know, there are many who mistakenly use cannon for canon (which I suspect is part of the good-natured ribbing in your posts. ;) ).

We will never know since this is a "fire in the hole" kind of posting - toss something in and never return, probably in the hope of seeing it explode. But OPs question makes basically no sense no matter wether you use "canon" or "cannon" so it's nothing that can be answered/replied to anyway, so we just create our own thread out of it.

There have been discussions on the merits of cannons vs beams, of people using cannon when they mean canon or vice versa, and the latter could probably springboard a lot of other discussions.

What do you actually want to talk about?

Personally, I like cannons to get a more canon looking Defiant and could use with less BFAW dominance.

I've also enjoyed trying out cannons for a more canon feeling to my ships. Even when it makes no in-game sense. Take the T6 D'Deridex. It's a big slow moving, slow turning mess. Throw cannons on it, instead of beams which are much more effective, and you get a nice canon feeling when flying it despite it being way less effective.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

On some ships I like to mix as well. My Klingon Negh'Var uses beams and cannons, since canonically and logically it has both. It also makes a nice visual diversity shooting big cannon blasts and some beams while turning about to the target pig-1.gif

I think it helps when you have a Tactical Commander seat, because that way you can use Scatter Volley III.

I just got a Mercury Tactical Escort and put all cannons on it. It's pretty impressive. And thanks to the pilot maneuvers (which I was skeptical about) it's much easier to keep on target than cruisers or raiders (or I guess not pilot escots)

Cannons, obviously. In context to canon.

Depends on the ship. I have one of my pilot escorts on a full 360 setup. 3 360 arrays and the rest cannon turrets. Quite a fun setup actually. Granted my DPS isn't as high as normal, but I never have to worry about keeping my ship on target AND I can roll BFAW and CSV at the same time.

And then I have a full beam escort in my Phantom, and then my Defiant full cannon setup. Then a torp heavy setup. Kinda have a ship for any situation I fell like going into.

Unless you mount lead ball cannons on your ships, you are doing it wrong canon wise.

A lot of people speak to dps, unfortunately, I haven't been playing enough to figure out how dps is measured after all boosts and capt modifiers.

The ship plays a big part. A cannon doesn't work to well on a Yamato dreadnought.

Having said that, on ships where cannons or beams will work, I tend to go with cannon forward and beam aft. I will always try to use cannons over beam if possible. I just like them more.

I have a question has anyone made an all turret ship?
I have some ships with cannons but im kinda sick of them as most of the time i have to constantly face them which means im either moving slow or at a dead stop.

most of my ships are now using beams but id like to go for a turret ship but not sure if id do decent damage (not bothered about top ending damage just good enough for advanced)

Yes, frequently. All-turret builds are extremely dangerous if you go for the right procs, for example drain builds with polaron turrets are rather deadly or carriers where the pets provide a lot of damage are great supporting them with disruptor turrets. They have a faster firing cycle and as such have more/faster rolls for their procs compared to beams. Of course the base damage is less, but you should be still good for elite, especially if you have some non-energy weapon damage in the mix.

I have a ton of builds, beamboats and cannonboats but my current favourite cannon build is my Fleet Mat'ha Raptor Disruptor build, its the most fun I have ever had with cannons.

I have a question: has anyone made an all turret ship?

Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser packed full of Elachi crescent turrets = ludicrously violent.

Turret builds are all about finding/exploiting the heck out of the right procs. Cannons/turrets have the shortest native firing cycle, which means they roll the dice for once-per-cycle procs faster than any other kind of build.

Always fly a mix when possible for this Cannons to knock the TRIBBLE out of the shields and beams to finish the job with their highrate of fire.

Totally forgot I posted this because I wasn't expecting soo many responses. Thank you all who did. I was in fact referring to cannons. And thanks to the responses, going to do a canon post. As for the cannons, I like their damage & dps, but they feel, as you guys brought up, non-canonical (sp?) on anything non Klingon. Of course at the time of posting, I did not know about the scatter volley option, was a noob.
