Pc players, as I'm on console and still waiting the release of the pilot escorts, I have a question for you since you already have these.
If I own all 3 variants of the Fed Pilot escorts, can I change the appearance of a tactical escort by having the hull/pylon/nacelles/etc of the sci or eng escort?

Thanks for the replay and the heads up. I can't wait til consoles get these ships. I'm very very happy with my t6 defiant class ship, but I haven't found an escort for the romulan or klingon factions that I like as much as I do the defiant.
I'm seriously hoping the p-escorts for those factions I'll like. I don't play my romulan or klingon characters as much because I'm not overly thrilled with the ships.
You need all three to get the console set.
You may also need the Defiant types to get either the Cloak (don't remember which or if it can work on those escorts) or the Quad Cannons. may be some other stuff I'm forgetting (haven't finished my coffee so not thinking straight atm.)
good luck!
You're right, I needed to buy one for the cloak and one for the quad cannons. I also had to get one for the sao paulo warp engines.
I'm putting all my hopes in the pilot escorts for klingon and romulan faction in hopes to get something close to the defiant in performance and capabilities.
I want to get a fleet defiant, I have the fleet credits, but there some other symbol next to the credit I don't know what it is or how to get it. The ship requisition officer says I need 1 of whatever that thing is and 20k fleet credits

You know you can just look at their stats and appearances right now.

Depends on what he replaces the set with. You have any recommendations for him?
Reputation, mission, fleet, lockbox, lobi, crafted, or event ship consoles. I regard almost all ship console and console bonuses inferior to those, even if they are fun to use or useful on alts that don't have anything else to slot. Some Rom and many KDF ships don't appeal to me either visually, but they are always much more fun to use than Fed, and highly effective.
Here's a more list of sets and set bonuses. Doesn't include everything (although it does have some Lukari stuff on it already). You might find something interesting to toy around with if you can get them. I've actually found that the unexpected effects of some of two or more different sets working together can be interesting. But when I asked others to recommend some things, I was hoping they'd toss you a Build or two. *shrug* I'm having trouble with STO atm, so can't toss you mine atm. anyway, here's some info:

Unfortunately for console players, we haven't had the r&d and fleet mechanic for very long, so I can't even buy a fleet ship. It'll be a while until our starbase is T3. I didn't event know there was a such a thing as a fleet console.
Sometimes I feel like I have a solid base on how this game works, then in just 7 replies I learn much more. I started crafting level 15 consoles and equipment, but it's not lIke they're overly different. I have an upgraded RCS accelerator, for example, but the difference from a regular RCS isn't overly different.
I have level 15 or higher with cannons, beam, projectile, shield, ground weapons, and engineering. And although there's some interesting options that has opened at 15, nothing overly earth shattering. No tactical consoles.
Reputation consoles get used/take precedence if you're looking for a particular set bonus. Lobi store consoles tend to trump all of the above AND can give set bonuses with the two lobi store weapons that go with each console.
If you've picked a particular way of doing damage or a flavor of energy you want to use, just sing out. I keep a document with all the damage buffs sorted by damage dealing style and might be able to point you to a few bonuses you didn't expect .
As I usually try to cling to the "theme" of the ship I'm flying, I generally shoehorn in the that-ship-only console set, but realize you often give up a little bit of maximum performance to enjoy the unique gameplay for that ship. If you plan to be here a while, you should definitely enjoy what makes each ship different instead of showing how alarmingly close all of them can come to being the exact same ship in the quest for 99th percentile DPS.
