PC and console player here. I'm happy just to be able to play the game, sure it was a bit annoying but it's also only a 5 month old game. Mistakes can happen.

and it's not just that mistakes happen, it's that it's not something that they can just immediately fix like in PC either since all patches have to go through even lengthier processes to get pushed to XBOne and PS4. They will likely get it fixed in the next patch or two, but they can't just make a quick change the same way they can on PC and it's not their fault, it's Microsoft and Sony's fault.

Couldn't agree more, don't shoot me down here, but they should of caught it sooner than the day of it actually meaning to happen, there must be a way of contacting players and letting them know, but I dunno.

But I imagine the brunt of their focus will be on porting stuff over. Not catching minor glitches, because it is a minor issue after all.
I don't know why people complain so much, I'm just happy to play a Star Trek game on the console.

They may have seen it sooner and just chose not to say anything. If they did say something, what would it have been? "Sorry, we messed up, but we can't fix it until the next patch." If they posted that in the news or facebook or whatever, how many people would actually have seen it? 10% of the player base? What good would that do. All it would have done is cause the people that did see it to be upset and cause even more complaints.

They likely waited until the day it was supposed to happen because that's the day most players would log in, see that there was nothing and they go look to find out why. That's the thing people don't understand. Those of us here now posting are really the exception to the rule. The vast majority of players, and I think this is probably more true for console players than PC players, don't go to forums and stuff and read about the games they play. They just want to sit down and play the game. I think it's even more true for console players as they may not even want to go sit at their PC and go to a website at all. They want to sit down on their couch and play.

I think you have a gross misunderstanding of what it means to be a console player. hell yeah, it's bloody convenient to play from one's couch (or in my case recliner) but we are just as invested in our games. we go to reddit for ship builds, we check the official announcements on the website regularly, we grind out for our gear just like the PC players do. but we also are more reliant on the ingame newsfeeds to be accurate because we ARE away from our computers. they could have done a mail message, they could have actually done a post on this website addressing it, they could have pushed an update (while a bit of work for consoles they really just look lazy for not addressing it.), or they even could have done an email to our registered email addresses. instead there's a one liner on their facebook and twitter. the places even fewer folks check for official updates.

Check the news post on your console in-game. I could have sworn there was an anniversary event Feb 14. It may be for the star trek franchise, not this game though, I'm not totally sure.

Now, in terms of this continued argument of console vs pc anniversary. I interpreted sto's anniversary as the anniversary of the IP/Franchise... NOT the system it was made on.

I play mostly on Console. The only reason I play on PC games is that they are better for games like STO which can have 40+ abilities available to trigger at will, something which can't be achieved on a Console until they release a compatible Keyboard.

But back to the point at hand, whether PC or Console player, I find it amusing when people think the world is crashing down over the little things. I'm am rarely bothered by any type of bug as I understand the complexity of programming and bug-hunting (I have the patience of a Saint!). Some people just don't, and think it's a case of it can be fixed in a couple of minutes. With the Consoles, it's well documented how hard it actually is just to get a fix to be published, even if it is a tiny one.

My finally, often repeated point, is that in Cryptic, you have a small Dev team who have recently had their work-load tripled. They are working with the limited funds that STO provides, with it being Free To Play. Things can and will get missed, but if it's not a game-breaking bug (a date on a calendar does not qualify for this), then it will be done 'later'. They have a test-server that isn't live, and Tribble (which is the publis test-server), and if a bug doesn't show on there, but later shows on the live servers, it's not entirely their fault as the Live servers are different beasts with millions upon millions of things happening, which doesn't occur on the test server.

Yes, they could've said something sooner, but at the end of the day, they change the calendar on the PC version more often than not.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

if they updated it, then it rolled out today, as of 12:15 this morning it was still saying 2/2/17 was the start date.

and I interpreted it as STO's anniversary as well, not just the PC version.

I think you need to understand that people like you and me are a very very small minority in the STO console player base. Yeah we check the forums, reddit, wiki etc.... But the vast majority of players will just log in, read the in-game news and play.
To put it insensitively, they're just dumb... They'll blindly follow the crowd.

Unfortunately we just don't have any sort of pull.

You're off to a wonderfully glorious start to your forum posting career. Short-lived as it will be.

you guys post a lot,do you think that cryptic need you to say nothings wrong....when obviously something is wrong.

Are you certain that it was supposed to come out last week and not in September? The devs might have separated the PC Anniversary and Console Anniversary to their respective launch dates instead of using the PC anniversary. So late January for the PC Anniversary and early September for the Console Anniversary.

The only big news for consoles on the Console news page seems to be Agents of Yesterday coming February 14. There is a good chance that the Temporal Recruitment event will launch at that time as well. Getting to the 25th Century and talking to a certain contact is a necessity before the event ends so any console user can earn all the rewards like most Reputation gear projects being upgraded to Ultra-Rare Mk XIII instead of Very Rare Mk XII.

everybody seems to misunderstand what an anniversary is.it is not a celebration of the anniversary of when the game came out on console.it is an anniversary of the game itself.

I am quite amused at all the kissassery going on here from pc users with ALOT of posts.u mad bro? don't want the console side of things to have what you have? u jelous?

they screwed up,we can handle it.it is an omen though of things to come.for some reason I'm not privy to,they want the console monies without the effort that, that would require.but seem to bend over backwards to make sure that the pc side is ok .if the game was so great on pc why do they need console money?

I still remember a game called city of heroes. do you?

p.s. the event is STILL listed .
as well they said that we didn't need a update or patch this week because of...ninja magic.perhaps if they fixed things, they would have notced.

but it seems that my console of choice is not something that they feel like fixing,or include in an anniversary,or tellus whats going on.
last time they messed up, I said they seem to be run by interns and the janitor.they have surpassed bungie in the sanfus .neverwinter wasn't like this.there were no game breaking bugs that went unpatched.there was no communication ,but things wernt broken. this must be a different group, one where its ok to make mistakes that cost the company money and annous its customers.perhaps your understaffed, too much of a workload?im the customer that's not my problem.

    I definitely understand your pain.

but let's be fair, Bungie is still worse... Cryptic/Perfect World have not taken away any content I purchased yet...

I'm a console player and read forums constantly on any game I play to get updates, help, or any info on games, so that isn't true at all. They did not announce it as a bug till the very last second. Their timing is terrible and they still have not fix the calendar issue it still shows up on console events at the main screen and in the news/events in gameplay. They drop the ball on this one - I'm with the person who started this forum I was looking forward to that event. And for them to say oooh oops that's a bug sorry is unacceptable. This should have been handle a long time ago. They need to compensate something to console players for that TRIBBLE it wouldn't be as big of a deal if a day after the event was posted they took it down and announced it as a bug. But they left it up and at the last sec said it was a bug and then still haven't taken it down off console events.
