So, have been looking forward to the advertised anniversary event that was advertised for the last month. Only to log on and find no Q on earth spacedock. Wtf is the BS?
Are you certain that it was supposed to come out last week and not in September? The devs might have separated the PC Anniversary and Console Anniversary to their respective launch dates instead of using the PC anniversary. So late January for the PC Anniversary and early September for the Console Anniversary.
The only big news for consoles on the Console news page seems to be Agents of Yesterday coming February 14. There is a good chance that the Temporal Recruitment event will launch at that time as well. Getting to the 25th Century and talking to a certain contact is a necessity before the event ends so any console user can earn all the rewards like most Reputation gear projects being upgraded to Ultra-Rare Mk XIII instead of Very Rare Mk XII.
While the consoles' calendar listed the event to start on Feb 2nd for about a month, it was a typo. There was a Tweet yesterday from Cryptic apologizing for the error. That is a little bit too late though.

This was never advertised for the Console, only for the PC, and the fact it was showing in the Console calendar, it was confirmed by Cryptic as an unintended bug.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
if it was a bug they should have removed it from the calendar asap, it was left up until the night before and then it was announced as a bug. what console players are mad about is the timing of the situation.
and pcplayerare nothing but little bitchs like always theiy ain't got the a balls to play on a console and thiey stated that the anniversary was going to be on the console to

You're off to a wonderfully glorious start to your forum posting career. Short-lived as it will be.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

Given what little I've heard of console update restrictions, it's possible (albeit unlikely) that they couldn't fix the calendar without jumping through all the hoops again for a new patch.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
I too was excited for the advertised console anniversary event. I am glad to know it'll be happening for us Feb 14th rather than not at all. As for the divide in some of these threads... Not all console players are bad.

They posted hours before the event was meant to start saying it was a bug they had just picked up on despite the fact there has been posts asking for details dating back two weeks on this forums, facebook, reddit and twitter.... The fact this bug was on the live server for over a month and no one at Cryptic them selves noticed it tells us that no one in their office plays/monitors the console version and no QC is done... this is what most concerns players are fed up with the lack of communication and care that they seem to take with consoles.
Also they have not stated that the anniversary event is coming with AOY they have just said more information on the event is coming soon..... I would guess the consoles will get AOY and the Temporal Agent recruitment event and they will say the anniversary is coming in September but anything they may say could be a typo or a bug at this point based on their track record.....
There is a reddit post from a Cryptic CM stating they plan to have the PC and Console version only a few weeks apart in content as soon as possible so by September we may have caught up to the PC and things like this will be a thing of the past.
P.S A sub set of vocal PC players dont like console players you will have to get used to that lol
They have announced that the anniversary event will start on console on Feb 14 along with aoy on the same day. I guess this means the devs are celebrating "the release of STO" and not "the release of STO on PC" a subtle difference but a pertinent one with regards to this whole situation.

actually, it was advertised in-game for over a month. we have also been asking for details for several weeks. but all this has been stated already.
and to everyone, I apologize for the rectal blockages of some of my console compatriots. but on the flip side it would have been nice if they would acknowledge this on the news page for the Consoles on this website because some of us don't use twitter or follow them on facebook.

I agree!
Forums using gamertags or other aliases allow far too many people to just blast away in the harshest of manners under the disguise of anonymity (and in a fashion that they know would earn them a class A butt-kicking in person). It is however a good idea to grow a pair, not take the bait, and simply write that juvenile contingent off with the contempt that a real adult can live with.
I am sure most of us can agree that this situation with the Anniversary Event for console has been mismanaged by Cryptic.
Having a typo in the calendar is one thing. Waiting until February 1st to finally disclose it was an error is another. It's time to simply drop the matter and move on. Hopefully the Cryptic will learn from this and communicate better with the player community especially when they release incorrect information.

Yes, it appears they should've just quietly fixed the typo and pretended it never existed. Like they did with the PC version, which somehow avoided all of these useless complaining threads.

ain;t got the balls to play on console? WTF is that even supposed to mean? We don't have the balls to play on a dumbed down UI with a dumbed down control scheme? Maybe it's you who doesn't have the balls the actually build a PC and play without the dumbed down UI and control scheme.
The laugh is that it's still being advertised in the menu under news and events
PC and console player here. I'm happy just to be able to play the game, sure it was a bit annoying but it's also only a 5 month old game. Mistakes can happen.

and it's not just that mistakes happen, it's that it's not something that they can just immediately fix like in PC either since all patches have to go through even lengthier processes to get pushed to XBOne and PS4. They will likely get it fixed in the next patch or two, but they can't just make a quick change the same way they can on PC and it's not their fault, it's Microsoft and Sony's fault.

Couldn't agree more, don't shoot me down here, but they should of caught it sooner than the day of it actually meaning to happen, there must be a way of contacting players and letting them know, but I dunno.
But I imagine the brunt of their focus will be on porting stuff over. Not catching minor glitches, because it is a minor issue after all.
I don't know why people complain so much, I'm just happy to play a Star Trek game on the console.

I mean, they COULD post something on the official News section of the Website Dedicated to the console versions of the game... where MOST people check for game updates...

They may have seen it sooner and just chose not to say anything. If they did say something, what would it have been? "Sorry, we messed up, but we can't fix it until the next patch." If they posted that in the news or facebook or whatever, how many people would actually have seen it? 10% of the player base? What good would that do. All it would have done is cause the people that did see it to be upset and cause even more complaints.
They likely waited until the day it was supposed to happen because that's the day most players would log in, see that there was nothing and they go look to find out why. That's the thing people don't understand. Those of us here now posting are really the exception to the rule. The vast majority of players, and I think this is probably more true for console players than PC players, don't go to forums and stuff and read about the games they play. They just want to sit down and play the game. I think it's even more true for console players as they may not even want to go sit at their PC and go to a website at all. They want to sit down on their couch and play.

Also, there have already been a bazillion pointless threads crying about this.
