whos qualified for free ship?

in Star Trek Online General Discussion
anyone know what who where or if anyone is qualified or are only a select few special whales picked for this free ship and spec points?

    Im no whale, im F2P, and thou i buyed some things from the c-store, i got the ship, so as my brother, it's random, consider it a giveaway, the first i win in 7 years. :smile:

    Not going to flame. I got one of these this time around. First time ever and I am thankful.

    Always was disappointed when I didn't get the others, but never angry. My son got the Guardian giveaway and I didn't. Was I envious? Yes. He loves his Guardian. Still, if I want one, it's in the c-store.

    Getting angry serves no purpose except to raise stress levels and BP. Don't need none of that.
    Now a LTS and loving it.

    I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

    Also, I think if you've checked the box in your profile to receive promo emails, that gives you a better chance of getting a free ship. I did this after the gold Ferengi ship promo and now I have a Sovvie. I am happy even if I don't get another giveaway.

    Well I have a friend who hasn't played in over two years get a free Sovereign and spec points so the accusation that only whales won falls flat on it's face. Another thread failed to prove that only US/Canada players received the ship. Seems there's a lot of negative energy directed towards the players that were given the ship. This isn't good for you or your fellow players.

    It is likely random. Cryptic decided to give away X number of ships so they probably randomly selected X number of active accounts to award to the ships to. What qualifies as an active account? Maybe accounts where players have logged in to participate in the Winter Event.

    You can always decided to spend $9,999 of real money this year on STO. If you do not get a free ship in the next giveaway (whenever that is), then you can assume that you do not have to be a whale to qualify for the free ship... unless the magic number is $24,999.

    I've spent real money on this game from time to time, but probably haven't even hit the $1000 mark yet. So no, whales do not receive all the ship promos. The only thing I did differently between the last promo and this one is to allow them to send me promo emails.
    Now a LTS and loving it.

    I haven't been on the forums in quite some time, so I didn't see where there was a survey. I didn't even know about the email till I saw the thread about it that said to check it and see. That was earlier today and I checked and found it. Told my son in law and he found his.

    The survey was similarly emailed out last week, I believe...
    It focused primarily on the lockboxes...

    Ah, then I missed it. I probably accidentally deleted it when I cleaned out my box. If I'd seen it I would have definitely filled it out.

    It seems random. I got the Sovereign giveaway, and in the past I got the T6 Galaxy (Andromeda class?). I didn't get the other giveaways I've heard about. I've played more frequently in the last 12 months than ever before, got the Sovy. When I got the Andromeda, I hadn't logged in at all for almost a year.

    Your guess is as good as mine as to who gets these and why. I think it really truly is random.

    When I think about everything we've been through together,

    maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

     and if that journey takes a little longer,

    so we can do something we all believe in,

     I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

    can someone tell me how to find that page where you can check the box to receive emails is? I have looked at my Profile page and the account settings but it doesn't seem to be there. Is it in the arc launcher where you can do that or here in the forums profile?

    Okay, click your name at the top of the page (next to your country flag) and choose My Profile. When you get there, click the three lines next to Settings and choose Settings. Once there choose the Language preferences tab. Once there, there is a box to click labeled Allow us to send occasional newsletters and updates to your registered email address. Click it.

    not sure if there is a way you can do this through the web site though there probably is, the only way I know is if you install arc if you don't already have it and sign in, click on the settings icon (next to the shopping trolley icon on the right) select notifications and tick the box under get news and updates by star trek online.
    you can always uninstall arc if you don't want it once this is done I assume.
