Hello
I am playing STO for 5 years now. I poured more than 300 USD into this game and I became a life subscriber when Cryptic released the Mac version of the game. Now STO has discontinued the Mac version, so I have to play on the wine wrapper (the unofficial version) again. Now I get the message, that the game will not support my graphics card (probably the wrapper) after 2017 March 1. The wrapper is running X11, so it should be simulate DirectX 11, or not? But this is not the point: I subscribed as a lifer when the Mac version was released. Now what should I do? No, I don't want to run windows on my mac, otherwise I would have a windows PC. I payed money when I was given the Mac version, because I believed that it will stay with a mac version.
Now what should I do Cryptic? I just would like to know if you have any understanding for my/our (because I am not alone in this) situation?
Thanks and greets.
Everybody looks right, but you pass left...

But ultimately, you're in the same situation as anyone that has unsupported hardware, just that you have the special case of using a Wine wrapper on a MAC. And Cryptic obviously thinks that it's okay if you cannot play anymore, unless you buy new hardware.
Your lifetime subscription does give you a subscription for the lifetime of the game, but it makes no guarantees on whether any computer system you happen to have will be forever supported. It is still your responsibility to get a computer system that can play STO, whatever its hardware, software or internet access requirements.
Your best hope currently is probably that the WineWrapper will be improved in a manner that DirectX11 support will be sufficient for Star Trek Online, and that the warning you get is only temporary until the WineWrapper works well with STO. It is possible howevever that your hardware is really inadequate and simply will not be supported anymore, in that case you might need a new graphics card or even an entirely new machine.
try contacting Support and sending in a ticket about your question.
Pulled up this article http://www.mmogames.com/gamenews/star-trek-online-cancelling-mac-support and it recommended using Wine. but as far as your problem, try support.
there have been other threads tossing around theories on how the loss of service for WinXP will affect mac users in this situation, but they didn't come to a conclusion about it.
if you find you cant run sto on the hardware you have its either that or see that investment go down the drain and miss out on the years of fun you might have had.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I think the OP's comment "I don't want to run windows on my mac" rules out that option.

Here they gather overall feedback, e.g. if there are dozens of threads popping up for several days on a specific topic, they will likely think about how they can address what is discussed there. But if you personally need some form of help, customer support exists for that purpose. The forums are too chaotic to track every detail, and there can also be a lot of information required for support that Cryptic will treat as private (to you or them) and won't share publically.
Think this sums it up: You signed up for the life of the game. The version of the game you're playing for Mac ended when it was discontinued. You got the full value and use of the game for that period of time (from the day you set it up, to the day it ended). Thus you received the Life-time subscription in full, minus any promises Cryptic may have made aside from that. Once the game ends, so did the 'Lifer' membership.
Unless there was some fine print?
