MAJOR KIT BUG!!!

My two engineering toons and science toon had kit issues that I fixed "fairly" easily. But my tactical toon? The kit and one module are completely missing! What's WORSE? This toon can't find a single kit ANYWHERE (the exchange or otherwise) that shows in the description box the number and types of module slots it has. Bought one anyway in case the slot types might become visible once I owned the kit. But they didn't...AND the kit could not even be equipped! MAJOR bug! This one will have to sit out the ground battles for a while!

Gonna try buying a kit with one of my good toons and transferring it to the bad one.

    Wait 5-7 min's and if the KIT's do not reappear then try changing instances that should RESOLVE the issue for you. My AoY toon took longer than some others, yet all reappeared within a few minutes as KIT MODULES had to check for what needed quality upgrades (for Lockbox kit modules), plus to recreate them so they would allow being upgradable to Ultra or EPIC Mk XIV quality depending on the type.

    Okay...finally noticed that ALL kits for ALL toons no longer display the number and type of module slots. But I still didn't buy my tactical toon a kit from any of the fleet holdings until they fix my inability to equip a kit (and yes I ensured it was a tactical kit).

    Thanks. Good news is I found my wayward kit and module. The bad news is I still can't equip the kit.

    Devs. To be more specific, if I attempt to equip a kit, I get the box that warns me I won't be able to trade it later. But when I click ok, nothing happens. Also, if I left-click on the empty kit slot, the "EQUIP" box pops up, but there is nothing listed there...does not matter if my kits are in inventory or in my bank. Hope this helps.

    Same exact problem here. Its liek there was some blank item in the kit slot. Even if you hover cursor over any kit in your inventory, there is a small "Current" toolkit showing next to the kit stats window. Like it was comparing that kit to some invisible slotted item.

    Also, when i left-click kit slot, an "EQUIP" window shows up, but there is nothign on the list, despite few kits in the inventory. It also says "Can't remove item from this slot" in that window.

    I know there are a few exceptions with a few KITS still showing up black, but the vast majority of KITS should load and work properly. Also some KIT modules after the upgrade that were previously equipped and bound to character/account after the upgrade were updated to *bind on equip*. So if you plan to use to still use them equipping them should be no different than before.

    Also please note IF you still having problems with a SPECIFIC KIT make sure you REPORT the ITEM to SUPPORT / Bug Fixes FORUM and in the mean while you may want to TRY doing UNEASY ALLIES: select KIT REWARD. :)<3

    If you really adventurous maybe even do it more than once too compare. o:)

    1) to answer your question, kits no longer have module slots. All characters have 5 slots for modules from creation
    2) I am also experiencing this bug on my KDF Tac Alien 'Shelkeja'. Kits cannot be equipped at all, but the modules can. It simply acts as if nothing happened when you try. If it's a green+ kit it asks if you're sure you want to bind it, but then it does nothing. I've tried double clicking, right clicking and click+dragging, nothing happens.

    Same for me on my AoY Tactical Captain I made 2 weeks ago.
    Since creation I have not been able to equip any kit.
    Modules np at all.

    What do we need to do for cryptic to recognize this? I submitted a ticket through the game (which they require), yet it doesn't show up in my tickets (done this twice btw on both characters with this issue! Really, cryptic...really?!

    The other BUG someone identified is being unable to FIND kit modules on the EXCHANGE in their respective category where they should be; however, you can still find them searching generic or specific keywords using the ALL catagory. :'( Some are just not showing up in Kit Modules under (ENG/SCI/TAC) or in KITS under Personal Devices.

    Secondly it should be noted that there are NO LONGER specific type's of Kit Modules like there used to be. Previously Science officer's had Medical & Research type kit modules, they are all now just Science Kit Modules plain and simple. The same goes for TAC & ENG being now just Tactical Kit Module or Engineering Kit Module.

    If your having the last problem of your 'KIT' still showing up as BLACK when equipped & you can equip KIT modules, please trying scrolling over your KIT with your mouse, try to view the kit module BUFFS: Try selecting them, clicking them, or getting INFO about them with the mouse... even if nothing shows up doing that followed by changing map instances on a ground maps resolves most issues within a few minutes. :) Others have reported success by instead beaming up & down to a ground map 2 or 3 times consecutively.

    I have tried buying kits off the exchange, changing instance 5-10 times, still unable to equip any kit frame on my toon.

    Thanks for posting the VIDEO and replying to my message. I'm sure it will be helpful for the developers. I know how frustrating it is when issues like this occur.

    Your video will help clearly showcase what you are experiencing--so thank you!

    I've also spoken to someone with a Fed Tactical Officer (AoY) they created a month (3wks+) ago and is now level 60. They have apparently been unable to equip a Kit since character creation, yet none of their characters created afterwards have that issue.

    Your issue however seems similar, yet I wanted to confirm, in your video at 4:45 you identified no option to unequip or see a kit or buffs slotted--the space appears completely vacant. Your issue is what she is experiencing with a blank kit slot, is also unable to equip kits but has a Federation character. If she double clicks on a new KIT it comes up and gives the warning to bind to account/character; yet clicking OK on the item it is not slotted, and the item is still in inventory reporting BIND ON EQUIP.

    I can tell you that this is slightly different situation your describing than many others who've been able to correct & have KITS working again using the steps identified. I've checked with others in our FED & KDF Armada's which has membership in the 1000's. I suspect your issue is not directly linked to Romulan characters, but a particular KIT type that failed to update--yet as inconvenient as it may be, they are aware and working to correct.

    In trying to identify the cause I had just hoped the one of the options that worked most people would have work as well for you. Please try to be patient... :/

    Certain kits, such as standard-issue kits, were not converted properly. If you had one of these kits when the conversion happened, you will now have a blank item that you cannot move or discard. The only options available when you right-click on the blank item are "Info" and "Cancel". If you had the kit equipped before the patch, you will now have a blank item stuck in your kit slot.

    I reported the problem with standard-issue kits on the day "Agents of Yesterday: Artifacts" was released.

    Holodeck ticket 4,129,904: Standard-issue kit frames replaced by blank items

    I do not know if you have one of these standard-issue kits or some other kit. You mentioned that one of your Romulan characters was created after the kit change. That would mean the game is still giving out these broken kits; I wonder if they are also auto-equipped.

    EDIT: By the way, I don't know if viewing old tickets in-game has ever worked. It certainly didn't work when I tried it years ago.

    Indeed a major kit issue! The silence of patch notes writes/devs about it being known now is even a more major concern though in my opinion. Do they read remarks on patch notes? Bug reports?


    I have this same issue. I tried to write about it. I gave support screenshots. Are they not even aware?
    Very frustrating. Amazing. Support act as if they aware of that being continuing after 3/11, yet no dev is really acting as if he/she aware to it in real yet? Or prioritize it enough to mention it in known issue?

    It was removed from known issue after it was re-added after 3/11. Why? No it is not fixed!


    Note that it is now known to affect starter kit frames, at least, (possibly as no passive and maybe non discardable non sell-able/too low) and like the video shows, it completely disables not only the kit frame but the slot it was on after the 25/10 patch applied. Not exclusive to romulan or, as showed by the tact romulan in the video, engineers.


    It can affect KIT FRAME slot/BANK slot or INVENTORY slot. Same phenomenon, different faces!

    I have some characters affected. Almost gave up in fixing but decided to do my best so info will be collaborated, and, as said, some things especially are frustrating here. Affected chars: AoY: sci/eng STARTER kit frames (bank slots disabled by kit frame blackening), A NON AoY FED non rom with a low garbage NON holding's NON romulan kit frame - all those 3 characters are affected in various ways.

    It was reported on holodeck ~25/10 by frtoaster, but persisting after 3/11.
    Was proved to support at 4-5/11 that the bug PERSISTS after 3/11. I posted and thought people understood what is about. It was reported by others before and after me gazillions (non literally) times ago and yet it is in a way ignored by devs/those who mind the patch notes, it seems. Why is that silence?


    Redirecting to a bug report on Holodeck by another player, which I found out today to probably be looking like at least the half official post for this regard as it included the official bug report.
    note that this exists AFTER 3/11 and even now. Note that not only bank slots could be affected, this report should be broader to include inventory/bank/KIT FRAME blackened disabled slot.

    Sorry that I lost my calmness but people work to report and it seems no one who should be working on it, or possibly nobody who cares to inform us about patch notes priority and changes, aware or cares, and it looks like some official people don't at least internally update other helpful knowledgeable people/staff such as the nice bug hunters we have who care for real and who could help if they were informed, who could help in what they know and about info which was already gathered in places in which it's easier to upload screenshots than in forum. It also looks like one KIT FRAME issue is splited to many while it is one issue (in the cases it's the same issue I mean. I don't claim there are no other ones). and maybe this is why people are overwhelmed/get confused about fixing it.

    @frtoaster I managed to more carefully read frtoaster post now (sorry if I related to same things as you did while I was too frustrated to notice much) and I can say that I saw like you too that when I tried to make an in-game bug repport on OTHER issue, I could not click on reference to ticket/see tickets while reporting in reporting interface/search, and couldn't chose screenshots to upload there too. Note that links into topics seems not to be direct links, too, so it's hard to redir to a specific comment.

    P.S.
    1/9 of my chars is badly affected (1 char with a degenerated blackened kit frame disabling kit frame slot), 2/9 are affected (discovered the starter kit frames hindered a bank slot unusable in each, after realized there is a rapid way to check affected inventory/bank slots, (thought about the possibility when failed to use my bank slot on ground on a char) so checked all my chars) It could be some chars are affected by a kit blackening on their inventory/bank without yet knowing it. I wrote about it recently and need not to put it here again, I understand.

    @strathkin starter kit frames, as noted by others, are notorious in causing this. In fact I would be surprise if ANY starter kit which was not deleted before the 25/10 patch was not affected, crashing into a useless black hole and completely disabling the slot it is in. Also check kits without passives, non discard-able or low - no idea. I tried to summarize some ways regarding how to rapidly identify slots affected and disabled by this blackening kit issue elsewhere, since I can't write so eloquently I don't write it here now again but maybe you can find it. Check especially chars which saved their initial kits for nostalgy and you can find such a disabled kit frame/bank/inventory slot there.

    If you re-read what I stated, I never said his issue was new or unique just a different issue. I've suggested 3 things that correct many issues for many players. When you stated, "Holodeck ticket 4,129,904: Standard-issue kit frames replaced by blank items" they are well aware of these as am I.

    Try hovering your mouse over the KIT slot see if info displays OR clicking "Info" and "Cancel". If you had the kit equipped before the patch, you will now have a blank item stuck there, as I identified to others before and the reason new kits could not be slotted. For some not all (depending on the kit) interacting with it by hovering over it to look for description, clicking INFO, then changing ground map instances 3 times (10sec apart) -- has corrected some issues within a few minutes later. Still it doesn't hurt to try? :) It's worked for some...

    I'm only trying to help resolve some or issues many can correct, others require follow up by developers, so please don't get upset with me. :/You afterall did state, "The only options available when you right-click on the blank item are 'Info' and 'Cancel'. If you had the kit equipped before the patch, you will now have a blank item stuck in your kit slot.

    Sorry, I indeed misunderstood some things then but my frustration and criticism was NOT directed toward you (or any poster in this topic) at all. Anyway I apologize, strathkin, for my misunderstanding. Thanks for clarification though off course.

    Also wanted to note 3 chars out of my 9 are BTW affected (until fixed, for real) not only 2 as implied by my accidental way of writing there. (I meant I have 1 badly affected and other 2 moderately affected characters, so to speak)

    P.S.
    I think this should be my last post on this specific thread, so if I don't answer something directed to me here (unlikely there will be such, just noting just in case) know I just try to stand by my own decision - not to cumbersome this topic and that I also think this bug issue itself, (in my view at least) should better be discussed in other location. My opinion only, though :)

    Still having some kits not showing properly, not to mention upgraded 23c. modules whose abilities don't appear in the power bar if one tries to equip them...

    We're approaching a month of this...

    No. It was fixed/sorted up for your char, allegedly, but the bug is definitely not fixed "for real".
    This despite being declared fixed at 3/11 long ago, was not fixed then, and was declared as known issue ~5/11 and strangely this note removed from the notes around ~15/11. Sorry if the dates are wrong.



    Please do NOT spread "this issue was fixed" info on this regard, EVEN IF it was: 1. Either fixed specifically in your case (your char was bugged really and issue was fixed in that char's case specifically) or 2. Your character was finally updated and was not even bugged for real.

    To clarify: this issue was NOT FIXED FOR STARTER/TUTORIAL etc KIT FRAME at least, (for chars which carried that kit frame at the patch time of 25.10) or at least not "in general", as my still bugged 3 out of 9 chars show... Please refer to the post linked above, a bug report by Frtoaster.

    If we want ANY HOPE to fix this bug ever, (we ask to) please don't say "this issue was globally/generally/really/fully fixed" (in case your char isn't bugged anymore/was updated etc) while we (can) still tell it's not.
    Bug happened at 25/10 (artifact's/kit revamp patch), declared (unknowingly) wrongly as generally/globally/fully fixed at 3/11, acknowledged non fixed at 4-5/11 about, and despite being added and removed into and from known issues later (~15/11), is not yet fixed as of now at 31/12/2016.

    P.S.
    Sorry for updating this topic so to speak after I said I should probably not do so here, however this was in my opinion crucial to avoid a critical potential misunderstanding leading to this bug being abandoned possibly.

    I have the exact same "ghost" kit problem the OP has and it started at the same time (edit-October). Had a science starter kit in slot when update came, now, a non removable black box. Sent them a ticket a few weeks ago, got an automated response to "force verify patch from launcher option menu", which i did. Did nothing for the kit problem. Now character is permanently crippled on the ground for months (maybe months/years to come also?).

    Still not fixed... and this is quite frustrating. No response on tickets. Are they even working on it? In my defense I had been away from STO for several months so coming back to discover this kit issue and being basically ignored concerns me greatly.
